If any body have troube with your code let me know, I would love to help
David Nunes

May 05 2017 20:39
THanks @128bytes I might hit you up on that. I know programming, but I'm pretty new to web. I hope people do post issues, though, so we can all figure it out and learn together. I know I've made stupid mistakes that take me hours to work through, when it was something I just didn't know was a big deal. Like console.log instead of console.Log >.<

@128bytes
May 05 2017 20:40
That's how it is, you'll start to find anf fix bug faster the more you code
especially JavaScript
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 20:41
Yeah. I am used to strongly typed strongly cased languages. scripting languages still throw me off. Only reason I can use Groovy is cause it's so close to Java.
Well, really IS java.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 20:43
I nevered code in Java. I wanted to learn Scala which runs ontop of a Java Runtime environment right?,
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 20:43
Yeah. Scala is a pretty good one too, but not used near as much.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 20:43
I know your used to OOP in Java but have you done any functional programming
I really like functional programming so I am doing it with javascript and haskell
I just started to learn haskell as it is a pure functional language but its pretty cool
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 20:45
My experience is VHDL on FPGA's, C (mostly Nginx modules), C++ and Unreal, C#/Java/Groovy/Python and some PHP, basic html5/css3 and a smattering of other crap.

May 05 2017 20:46
I really want to learn python because I'm looking to explore machine learning and data science
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 20:47
R is really good for that too, but I think Python is taking over. And you can use it on things like some of the Arduinos, Raspberry devices and almost everything else.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 20:48
yea I have a friend who is really good with python, he want to do a rasberry pi project
if you want to learn more about web dev then try freecodecamp
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 20:49
I'm working on a custom pi project for a friend right now using Python and C++ together. It's a lot of fun making something physical as well of digital.
I'll write that down and check it out! I'm getting a good list of resources to try.

thats cool, lol something I wouldn't understand. My main focus in web development
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 20:50
Web is a huge deal. And it's my biggest gap in knowledge right now. Hence this course, and wanting to help people with it. I find the best way to learn is to teach. You always run past new issues.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 20:51
I have a great grasp of javascript so let me know if you need help with that
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 20:51
I likely will. Thanks =-)
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:02
Haha, one of the first steps is to download Google Chrome. I forget that's a thing.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 21:07
and firefox
cause when it comes to web development you gotta test for different browser
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:07
That at least is one I've used at some point in the past 5 years. I'm in the process of getting it too, right now.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 21:08
each browser renders code a little bit different
plus theres like 3 or major different javascript rendering engine and there a little different so its good to test for all browser. the main ones being chrome, firefox, opera and safari, and maybe the new microsoft edge
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:10
I have had installed IE (for legacy) Edge, Opera Neon, and Vivaldi. I haven't had reason to reinstall Firefox recently so I haven't for that.
And we're not legally allowed to use Chrome where I work, so we literally never think to check it.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 21:17
Oh okay
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:18
Safari doesnt have an up to date Windows version, does it?
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 21:20
I really don't know cause I use a mac laptop so I really don't know about windows
I mean apple laptop
Mac would be desktop right?
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:20
Ah, fair enough. I see an old version thats about 2 years since the last update.\
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 21:20
I get confuse
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:20
Mac is the desktop OS, I htnk.
I mean, there's the macbook and what not.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 21:21
I tried it many years ago but the safari for windows had many bugs then
Always build for mobile first
Then scale up to tablet, laptop and then desktop

@Brift
May 05 2017 21:23
Responsive design should make that seamless
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:23
Almost all of my exeprience has been embedded and IoT devices, so I don't do much with UX/UI or mobile specifically
Dave Hardee
@Brift
May 05 2017 21:24
CSS3 has a lot of good features for automatically sizing a page
That way you don't have to make 10 versions of the same page
I have Safari 5.1.7 on windows, I don't think it is automatically updating
Apple would prefer that all other operating systems and hardware providers fail miserably so they can make more money
I'm pretty sure it is running on webkit, which is similar to Firefox
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:27
I'm not a big apple fan, but with my hardware choices I don't have a lot of room to talk.
Dave Hardee
@Brift
May 05 2017 21:28
Don't get me wrong, they make quality stuff. It is just really over priced and extremely locked down
And proprietary everything
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:29
That it is.
Dain Danny Ramnauth
@128bytes
May 05 2017 21:29
Firefox JavaScript engine is called spidermonkey
But the best so far is chrome v8 engine
Dave Hardee
@Brift
May 05 2017 21:31
Based on a really fast google search Safari for Windows is long dead and way out of date.
So you have to run it on a mac to see how it reacts there
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:32
Okay, that's what I've found as well. I just booted up Virtualbox and installed it on my mac instance.
Dave Hardee
@Brift
May 05 2017 21:32
That is a smart way to do that
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:32
I don't use that very often, but I've needed it for some Xamarin projects to compile into swift, or whatever their language is these days.
Dave Hardee
@Brift
May 05 2017 21:35
Virtual boxes are great for experimenting/checking for weird bugs on strange hardware/OS configs
David Nunes
@Zucce05
May 05 2017 21:36
I originally got it to test out device performance on FPGA designs. It's a bit funky using it that way, but it's a great system to test with.
