    hello everyone. I just want to ask, how to make a portfolio in web development when you are beginner?
    Mohammed Jumail Shibily
    Is this group dead? because I am not seeing anyone reply to anything for past couple of hours. Or is it because of the timeline.
    You have to check out the bootstrap section for nav bar ,jumbotron,div icons and other things that will help you to create portfolio
    Hello to you ! :smile:
    Hey everyone. I'm just starting this course. I'm attending Utah State University pursuing my master's degree in Management Information Systems. I have experience with ASP.NET Web Forms, Python, and some Polymer/Python web development.
    I'm excited to get started!

    Quick QUESTION:
    Im trying to make my navbar have a login part to the right but when i make it its own div or ul it creates a login thats tiny and underlined in blue.. When i do it as an LI it doesnt move it to the right tho.
    How do I make my login navbar go to the right of the page???

    Hey Guys
    Hi there. I want to ask if its possible to check for a certain word in a certain url using javascript and do a specific action
    James Hall
    @Panormitis Yes, this possible. A url is just as string.
    @James-H33 Thanks great. I want to check this url "http://www.ebay.com/itm/381829545317" if there is the phrase "More than 10 available"
    Any idea on how to search for this phrase and get an alert for example if the phrase is there
    @James-H33 You can check if the url has a substring of the phrase youre looking for. If yes, then do alert
    James Hall
    @Panormitis Do you have an actual example?
    But @James-H33, isnt a bad practice that your url shows some data or info? If it's a title, thats fine. If not, idk so. Can you clear this to me
    *i dont think so
    James Hall

    @imrockwell_twitter No, it's pretty common practice. I wouldn't suggest throwing your password as up as url parameter. haha

    I am working on a site right now that places the users id in the search query parameter. Look like this:

    Haha got it
    $(document).ready(function () {
    if((window.location.href = "http://www.ebay.com/itm/381829545317").indexOf("available") > -1) {
    alert("your url contains the word available");
    I think you should not use "="
    var url = "http://www.ebay..."
    James Hall
    if(window.location.href == url && url.indexOf("available") > -1)
    James Hall
    Not really the best solution but it can work for now. This only looks for the word and not the order of the words in question.

    Hello, just beginning this class and looking forward to learning with you all!
    Hello everyone, recently joined the class & went through a few lectures already. Trying to learn web dev out of curiosity. Looking forward to learn and collaborate here!
    was working on the tic tac toe exercise & came up with a different solution. However, noticed something strange - when I comment out the border-collapse property in the table css, the vertical lines of the tic tac toe board vanish. Why would this property be necessary for the vertical lines? Link to code here: https://codepen.io/yasharth02/pen/qRmXRj
    I am stuck on an issue with cloud9; I can not copy text from a url or text editor, etc; then paste into cloud9. I need to always manually type. Is there a fix around? Really do not want to spend tons of time typing out lines of code from scratch :worried:

How can i manipulate the DOM and the database consistenly at the same time? Has anyone done a project like that? (sorry for bad english)
    Evan Davis
