Hi everyone. This project looks amazing. And good to know that you are considering polymer/web-components + meteor. I'd like to contribute. :)

@JakeHartnell If you come across any issues while using polymer with meteor just tag me. I'll be happy to help.

If anybody is interested I have a pretty sweet hardware neopixel led ring using particle, I have two rings for each room that uses a seperate base station photon, one humidity and one temperature ring, the rest going through blynk.
It's basically, overkill....and so pretty and functionally useful at same time, your girlfriend will like it......or won't hate it, same thing anyways right!

Speaking of Particle. It might be quicker to try to implement the DDP protocol in C, Java, or whatever rather than having to wait on mqtt support.
JF

So is it MQTT in meteor waiting on?

Yeah. CommonGarden/Grow-IoT#224
Of course now we're rewriting things, but it would be nice if we didn't have to worry about MQTT for the time being...

Hmm. See this is where I am less useful, implementing hardware like that, why not just use particle js?

Link?
Its just probably a tottttalllly different route for the hardware/firmware
because particle

Yeah...

Oct 02 2016 05:54
it means it would still be in c++
Not updated in three years but I don't think the core protocol has changed much...

3 years old and no updates since
That could get....hairy

I believe in the particle stuff though man, I think its the best way to ever launch a hardware product coming in to this fresh
I have homemade GFCI outlets with a relay shield and simple web page to turn stuff on and off
Could launch a product, and still update the dang thing over time with new functionality or sensors depending on scope of design etc.

Indeed, it's very useful. I think we can do the same thing but with #blockchain ledgers rather than particle.

Updating firmware in the cloud?
Jake Hartnell
@JakeHartnell
Oct 02 2016 06:00
Yep. It's a big security problem.

Oct 02 2016 06:01
It would take designing the hardware too though would it not?
unless repurposing and existing wifi connected board with custom firmware somehow
ala; voodoospark on photon for johnny five etc.
im big on bitcoin as a currency, blockchain's themselves aren't great unless you have the hashing power behind them to secure with sha256 Proof of work miners

Blockchains can be used for other purposes besides curenncy.
JF

Not securely
The reason bitcoin IS secure is the miners....
The physical miners
That is the SOLE reason...

But the split to ETC did it in to me
Its a bankers coin now

Anything with a currency controlled by ANYONE will fail, game theory applies to bitcoin
and bitcoin wins for thousands of reasons
its STATELESS currency that cannot be controlled if used outside of fiat
game, set, match bitcoin

630 TRILLION $ in derivate exposure Jake. 630 trillion
world GDP is estimated 110 Trillion
Derivative exposure alone is 6x our worlds production of wealth in a year.....
Only a matter of time now, they inflated currency too much, too fast.
