    Hi, I am using web3j to deploy contract. Does anyone know how to listen to events on the deployed contract using Infura?

    also, while deploying on local this time I am getting TypeError: unhashable type: 'dict' error
    this was not coming in my previous system. I am the only one who is facing the issue or its for most of us.

    Hello. I am new comer here and stuck by an issue when trying to create a contract. Hope I could get some help here. I have a public function inside a main contract that keeps on leading "truffle migrate" to "out of gas" error when I turn it public. This function only creates a new child contract with something like "p = new contract(...)". As long as I keep it internal / private, it works fine and does the job within the main contract constructor. However when I want to call it publicly it fails from the migration step... Any idea? I tried to upper the gas limit but it seems to be endless... Thanks a lot...

    Have you tried supplying the transaction with a gas amount of lets say
    2 million?
    Juan Castellon
    @Juan-cc
    @fdervillez it could be possible that you are getting gas issues changing the function visibility. Check this out: https://medium.com/@gus_tavo_guim/public-vs-external-functions-in-solidity-b46bcf0ba3ac

    Thanks a lot for the advise. Actually I changed the code structure and now it seems to work fine. May be it was related to function visibility indeed. Thanks again.

    Hello, I'm Isaque, leading a team to build a P2P crypto AgriFintech in South America, and we are looking for people interested in participate of the project.

    Our project is a decentralized investment platform which connects farmers (which ones out of the credit and bank system) to investors (individual or institutional) using the Ethereum platform, smart contracts and web applications.

    All the solicitation of loams will be analysed and validated using our data science engine already developed (which uses a combination of satellite images, wheatear forecast, crops informations and parameters and so on).

    We are looking forward developers who knows solidity, web3, truffle, javascript, react.js.

    Any interested people can send the CV and Portfolio to fewnickels@fewnickels.com

    Thanks!

    Please let me know if it is possible to calculate for array types with web3 soliditySha3.

    Can someone suggest me how to use estimateGas for function calls like below:

    hi - i have a newbie question. I've built a solidity smart contract with nodejs front end, its all hooked in and communicating. How do I actually send values between the front end and backend?

    constructor(string memory _firstName, string memory _lastName, string memory _SID) public {
            owner = msg.sender;
            firstName = _firstName;
            lastName = _lastName;
            SID = _SID;
        }

        modifier checkAccess(bool access) {
            require(
                access == true,
                "Access denied"
            );
            _;
        }

        function getAccess() public view returns(bool access){
            if(msg.sender == owner){
                access = true;
            }
            else{
                access = false;
            }
        }

        function getFirstName() public view checkAccess(this.getAccess()) returns (string memory _firstName){
            _firstName = firstName;
        }
    even if the getAccess gives me true, the modifier checkAccess don't let me use the function, someone have some idea?

    pragma solidity ^0.5.2;

    contract Test {
        bool public access;
        address public owner;
        string public _firstName = "";

        constructor() public  {
            owner = msg.sender;
        }
       modifier checkAccess(bool _access) {
            require(
                access == _access,
                "Access denied"
            );
            _;
        }

        function getAccess() public returns (bool success){
            if(msg.sender == owner){
                access = true;
            }
            else{
                access = false;
            }
        }

        function getFirstName() public checkAccess(this.getAccess()) returns (string memory firstName){
            return (_firstName);
        }

        function setFirstName(string memory name) public {
            _firstName = name;
        }

    }

    Since in your case you are using public view getAccess and view functions do not modify the state, thus even if you were getting true for that instance, however it was not persisted in the state, thus, you were getting a transaction revert.
    I have tested above code on Remix compiler and it works as expected.

    Hi @NNAF98 you need chance in the methods
    string by string memory
    function getGreeting() public view returns (string memory) {
    return greeting;
    }
    function setGreeting(string memory _greeting) public {
    greeting = _greeting;
    }
    because you have storage var, and you need work with memory var

    I'm facing a problem of deploying my smart contract on Remix. When I try to deploy the contract, for some reason the library that my main smart contract uses gets deployed instead of the smart contract. I make sure that the main contract is selected in the drop down as well. Has anyone faced a similar issue?
