    hello all...

    Hi guys, Nice to be here.
    Quick question. Just tried to run the basic example from the RC playground with the login button but I am getting unexpected token import on my line: Import { Connect, SimpleSigner } from 'uport-connect'. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Ronan Sandford
    @wighawag
    hi @ingcoders can't answer your question unfortunately, I myself have a question :) Regarding the competition, is it allowed to post an exisiting app with suport for uport ?
    blokaly
    @blokaly
    Reading the T&C, seems you have to submit codes and the codes IP will belong to topcoder...so unless you want your app to be owned by topcoder...I guess you have to modularize your solution to submit for the competition...that's my understanding...
    Ronan Sandford
    @wighawag
    wow, that's an unusual T&C for a competition. I will definitively not participate of that is the case

    Hey @blokaly, I am not the final source of truth, but I believe that, per standard Topcoder rules, any winning submission becomes a property of the Topcoder client (or Topcoder itself). For non-winning submissions you keep your rights on them. So, legally, once you won a challenge, it is considered as if you provided a paid service to Topcoder and their clients, and you get paid in exchange.
    @wighawag thus, according to my previous comment, as per standard Topcoder rules, you can submit only a code you have full rights for, and that you can pass these rights to Topcoder and their client. Thus, in standard challenges, if not permitted explicitely, you should stick with 3-rd party libraries covered by MIT or similar licenses.

    @blokaly
    @birdofpreyru you are right...the winning submission will become a property of Topcoder...so it IS a paid service in a sense

    @chuacw
    Hmm, looks like there's only 2 submissions.
    @birdofpreyru So, if that's the case, the 2 person will win definitely???
    Dr. Sergey Pogodin
    @birdofpreyru
    @chuacw but that's only the checkpoint; the hackathon itself we'll for a bit longer than two more weeks, so I believe, we'll have more submissions
    and the checkpoint is not obligatory / have no impact on the final chances to win, except of being an opportunity to get a feedback from uPort team on your idea, current direction you follow
    Chua Chee Wee
    @chuacw
    Yeah, I know. But how about the final submissions?
    Dr. Sergey Pogodin
    @birdofpreyru
    @chuacw so, yeah, if we end-up with just two submissions, and both are of a reasonable quality, then both will win.
    Chua Chee Wee
    @chuacw
    Great ;)
    Thanks for your response, @birdofpreyru .

    Hello all! Do anyone experience problems with login to the 'demo' app at https://demo.uport.me/ using uPort Android app? I am scanning the QR-code successfully with the uPort app and pressing 'SEND', but the 'demo' does not seem to receive anything.
    Dr. Sergey Pogodin
    @birdofpreyru
    @ToJen I was sure that any Hackathon works this way: you get an open-ended subject (in this case - something that uses uPort and Ethereum in a smart and creative way) and you are free to implement something cool, which will impress the judges, competitors, and anybody who will see what have you created.
    Btw, if you still have not seen it, here is the whitepaper on uPort: https://whitepaper.uport.me/uPort_whitepaper_DRAFT20170221.pdf which explains what was it created for, and thus outlines a good intial direction for your thoughts.

    @park_regis_twitter Thanks for your reply - it helped to know that it works for someone. I just found that I used the old uPort app version (1.4.219). With new one (1.5.279) it works indeed.

    Hi
    I've got a problem with depositing some eth onto my uPort eth address
    I need some eth on the account to use for gas etc
    I've tried opening two different accounts, but the problem remains
    Joel Thorstensson
    @oed
    @radek1st looks like you are sending to little gas for the tx to be confirmed
    Radek Ostrowski
    @radek1st
    thanks, sorted it out, but forgot to write back
    indeed gas was the problem
    can i link my existing eth address to uport?
    Joel Thorstensson
    @oed
    how do you mean?
    your uport account is not a regular account but a contract called a proxy
    Radek Ostrowski
    @radek1st
    @radek1st
    I have a weird issue. I'm trying to call payable function and send 0.1 eth
    but on the uport app I'm getting a request to send 295.1479... eth
    DApp.walletContract.at(walletAddress).topup({from: DApp.currentAccount, value: 100000000000000000})
    any idea why such a difference in eth value?
    IMG_4512.PNG
    Radek Ostrowski
    @radek1st
    trying to send 0.1 eth it attempts to send 295 eth
    trying to send 0.00001 eth it attempts 0.00450... eth
    and in between in case someone can figure it out:
    0.01 -> 18.44; 0.001 -> 1.1529; 0.0001 -> 0.0001 -> 0.07205
    Radek Ostrowski
    @radek1st
    and sending >= 1 ether generates the request for approval with no ether to be sent at all
    Radek Ostrowski
    @radek1st
    I created an issue here: uport-project/uport-connect#90
