very close in specs overall.... probably will wait for 2700x.. better to have a newer gen, far less power usage, a lot of extra CPU features (AES etc)
The only tempting part is 12/24 and more memory lanes etc... vs 8/16
and threadripper mobos as they are server boards are probably expensive
pfft.. yep.. sky high... will wait for r3 and can get a normal desktop board
Ryzen 3000 motherboards will probably be expensive as well due to pcie 4.0. sounds like manufacturers had trouble with signal integrity.
its still AMD4 socket. Boards are in normal range, start at about $60 although Im picky about board and will spend $100-$130 usually. For 6 years I ran a major service center and we were the exclusive MSI warranty center for dozens of countries.
My graphics card is a few years old.. (980Ti).. wil also go PCI SSD though upgrade from SATA SSD now
"but seeing as GPUs (with maybe the exception of the 2080Ti) aren't using the full bandwidth of 3.0"
Im not doing heavy processing anymore - just need faster compile times etc. When I ran the service center I would upgrade once a year at least, often more. Current rig is over 3 years old. SSD + quad core i5. Used to have i7, but the i7 I had was known with defects and even without overclocking 3 of them died.. Intel kept repalcing free but to where I am it was 1-2 months turn aruond each time so gave up and went to an i5 and never noticed any real loss.
And be able to run Chrome with lots of tabs and still use my PC.. Chrome by far is the biggest CPU eater on my system..even consdiering keeping my old PC and remote to it as a dedicated Chrome desktop :(\
Opera and Mozilla Firefox are better to use if you want to save CPU power and memory. I Don't know how good Microsoft Edge when you want to save CPU power. I have been hearing a lot of people been switching to Vivaldi browser.
FF Quantum is my current preferred. Way better than Chrome but still eats a lot of RAM and CPU
Matthijs ter Woord
isnt quantum the name for firefox 57 and later?
dont know if they merged them. they were separate for a whiel
Matthijs ter Woord
according to firefox quantum was the vNext engine, which was enabled as default in 57
Hey guys, quick question.
I installed the user pack to begin with ( just found Cosmos last night), the dev pack, and VS 2019. I cannot create a new project. \
Cosmos is not showing up in the new project dialog, nor the VS 2019 templates folder.
Is there any other way to get this thing working? I can't even create a new project.
Got it running, nvm.
glad you got it working.. best to ask such stuff on main chat though.. this is the "lounge"
