@kbartek05
Heres the code I wanna implement https://stackoverflow.com/a/12366307
Kudzu
@czhower
no becuase DLLs are Windows specific. Cosmos cannot use any Windows binaries.
kbartek05
@kbartek05
hey, I have a (yet another, sorry) quick question -- if you cannot use any DLLs, is it possible to make a console [ms-dos style] cursor?
Kudzu
@czhower
yes, just manually the way DOS used to. Text mode is long supported.
kbartek05
@kbartek05
could you give me an example? not used to write dos programs lol
I've normally achieved something like this with kernel32.dll
Kudzu
@czhower
Cursor is just blinking character. I dont have time to write samples unfortunately, maybe some one else will.
kbartek05
@kbartek05
Oh no, I mean a mouse cursor
Like the one you would see in the edit ms-dos program
Kudzu
@czhower
yes, in text mode its usually a blinking square interleaved wtih the character because of how text mode works.
kbartek05
@kbartek05
Oh, so Console.SetCursorPosition would work?
Kudzu
@czhower
maybe, I havent looked in a long time to see if its plugged or not
kbartek05
@kbartek05
uhhh I have a very serious problem, I can't compile anything
occurred    System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.CSharp, Version=4.0.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'.
I've deleted a nuget package and it uninstalled quite a lot of things
so idk if that's the cause of the problem
kbartek05
@kbartek05
Ok I've found a workaround, I've made a new solution and copied everything to it and it works now
kbartek05
@kbartek05
wtf why does my visual studio crash every time I get a cpu exception
Also there are sooo much cpu exception for no reason
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
No reason?
I don't think the system raises exceptions for fun :)
kbartek05
@kbartek05
does the cosmos image converter still work? If it doesn't then how can I "embed" images in my ISO to render them?
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
i don't think it works, but ypu can fix it up and submit a pull-request if you are interested
kbartek05
@kbartek05
oh, well how can I embed a bitmap?
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
you can use ManifestResourceStreamAttribute
kbartek05
@kbartek05
So I need to just add a resource like if I would with a normal .NET app?
example
kbartek05
@kbartek05
Oh, ok, thanks
wait, how would I load it within a method
nvm

@Alumniminium
Hello, whats the state of Cosmos? I've worked with the userkit in 2014 and just thought I'd check back now with .netcore and xplatform .net/mono, has there been any progress?

@BluRael_twitter
Is VS Workloads installation stalling on VS2019 for anyone else?
Or should I stick to the 2017 version?
ArtyIF
@ArtyIF
@BluRael_twitter yeah it is for me. i just installed the ".NET Core cross-platform development" and "Visual Studio extension development" workloads in vs installer and it worked for me
so, here's what i wanted to ask - i can't find a way to use asm in my c# code. the "plugs" page in official documentation states that there's a Cosmos.Compiler.Assembler.X86 namespace somewhere that lets you do just that. is it removed now? what's the alternative (besides x#)? using latest devkit
ArtyIF
@ArtyIF
ok so the current source has an XSharp namespace in it, but i can't access it (example: https://github.com/CosmosOS/Cosmos/blob/master/source/Cosmos.Core_Asm/CPU/CPUGetAmountOfRAMAsm.cs). what do i need to do to use it? do i need to include xsharp's project in references somehow?
ok i found it! had to include XSharp.dll somewhere in the project after it's built
BluRael (13 days left)
@BluRael_twitter
Okay, thanks Arty
BluRael (13 days left)
@BluRael_twitter
I can't seem to get it to build now
BluRael (13 days left)
@BluRael_twitter
nvm, think I got it going
BluRael (13 days left)
@BluRael_twitter
Does anyone know if there is a way of getting back to text after activating a canvas?
ArtyIF
@ArtyIF
there doesn't seem to be one
BluRael (13 days left)
@BluRael_twitter
Ahh kay. Thanks

Hi
massdivide
@massdivide
I really wanted to try the BasicOS listed under examples, but the MouseDriver code is depreciated. Has anyone had any luck with modernizing it?
Kudzu
@czhower
Mouse isnt complicated, so shouldnt be a big issue.
massdivide
@massdivide
@czhower I guess i'm a reverse learner, i understand things better if I can interact with them and tinker, then BOOM epiphany! Any chance you could collab with me on the code?
Kudzu
@czhower
I would love to but currently I simply don't have the time. :(
