JohnS
@JohnSpahr
Sorry about the confusion, DateTime.Now does work. Thanks!
Quajak
@quajak
does DateTime.TimeOfDay also work or not?
JohnS
@JohnSpahr
I wasn't able to get DateTime.TimeOfDay to work, unfortunately
DateTime.Now works flawlessly, though
Quajak
@quajak
For me DateTime.TimeOfDay works

How might one prevent corruption of file system on restart?
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
The file system doesn't need to be closed
When the system is powered down nothing needs to be done for the file system
If you aren't in the middle of writing data then there's no problem
Seth G. R. Herendeen
@sherendeen
What is the shutdown is caused by power loss? How do you prevent corruption in such a situation where a file is being written
Jim Jones
@RICKASHEYE
i opened a new issue on #1236
Jim Jones
@RICKASHEYE
this is actually on CGSE
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
Is the issue present in master? I dont see anything in the CGSE branch that would affect the Builder
Do you have any local changes?
Jim Jones
@RICKASHEYE
nope
i just downloaded it and pressed install once i extracted it also renamed the folder too
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
so you downloaded a zip of Cosmos repo and it pulled master for XSharp,Il2cpu and Common
one thing i did notice
the VsPropertyPages project in Common complained that it was from a web download
if you right cluck on the VsPropertyPages.csproj then hit Properties then Unblock button on the bootom right
then try again

@Nik300
Guys I have a question: is possible to modify/create partitions on a Cosmos Project??
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
No. Not yet. It is possible to do a "quick" format of an existing partition, but I wouldn't do it on real hardware yet
F4lc0131
@Nik300
Ok but, if I programm it in CPP... can I import the .cpp???
And can I create a different FileSystem instead of VFAT??
*instead of using
VFAT
Quajak
@quajak
Currently only Fat32 is supported if you want to use a different one you would have to implement it
F4lc0131
@Nik300
How can I do it??
Quajak
@quajak
Look at https://github.com/CosmosOS/Cosmos/tree/master/source/Cosmos.System2/FileSystem, it would be a lot of work but you would have to implement something similar to the code in the FAT directory for the other filesystem

@reybatacjr
hello, i have time to spare for cosmos. is there's a 'how to' available on how to set it up on vs2019?
Jim Jones
@RICKASHEYE
download the latest master pack then press installvs2019 once youve extracted it into a folder with being rename to Cosmos
reybatacjr
@reybatacjr
thanks
wachess1234
@wachess1234
Is there a good gui for Cosmos yet?
Jim Jones
@RICKASHEYE
nope @wachess1234 they havent figured out to transfer bits to the gpu memory fast enough but it is semi-usable now it renders much faster than the original i think it was VBE
Jim Jones
@RICKASHEYE
@charlesbetros theres no VsPropertyPages.csproj
even on the master branch i downloaded
Jim Jones
@RICKASHEYE
worked fine when i cloned the master branch
Phil Garcia
@tgiphil
@Nik300 C# source for FAT12/16 can be found here: https://github.com/mosa/MOSA-Project/tree/master/Source/Mosa.FileSystem/FAT

Is there a way to copy directly to vram memory?
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
There is a MemoryOperations class in Core that may help
wachess
@wachess
I get the error:
1>Kernel.cs(3,14,3,24): error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'TestRunner' does not exist in the namespace 'Cosmos' (are you missing an assembly reference?)
when I try and run the code
Charles Betros
@charlesbetros
I didn't mean copy the whole thing :) I meant take a look for examples of how the memory operation class is used
F4lc0131
@Nik300
@tgiphil thanks man!!! You just saved me
@tgiphil can I create partitions with the FAT16 FileSystem or not??
