I finally got SOMETHING working again (thanks to Hankinson’s help and some fudging around), but now Marionette click events aren’t working.

define "not working"
failing silently?
failing with errors?
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:34
Yup. I click and nothign happens (silently).

link to your code?
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:35
One second...
You can look at that if you wish, however the package.json file has changed considerably.
Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson
Jun 09 2015 15:36
any particular stuff that isn't working?
Note that this.events links click handlers to ui IDs I created.
This is just one example. It would seem that all Marionette handlers of this style (defined via this.ui, this.events) are not working.
Ever since the snafu yesterday with package.json

debugging in _handleClickScoreCount doesn't work?
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:41
It never gets there. The click isn’t captured by Marionette (I’m guessing).
Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson
Jun 09 2015 15:42
the view is rendering, though?
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:42
Indeed.
Thank god! :)
Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson

Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson
Jun 09 2015 15:46

Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:46
Yes.
Here’s better documentation
Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson
Jun 09 2015 15:46
can you drop to the debugger in the initialize method?
and see if that's getting called?
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:47
Already did. It is.
evan magoni
@magoni
Jun 09 2015 15:47
and maybe also see if you can access jquery from there?
although i guess jquery needs to be accessed somewhere else by marionette
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:47
jquery must be accessible if everything else is being rendered
Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson
Jun 09 2015 15:47

what's in the UI hash?
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:48
One second...
Where would I be able to see that in the debugger?
Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson
Jun 09 2015 15:50
this.ui?
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:50
Well, that has what you’d expect.
scoreCount: "#score_count"
workflowCount: "#workflow_count"
I’m going to see if it works when rolling back to 1.1.2
Andrew Horwitz
@ahwitz
Jun 09 2015 15:51

Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:52
No, it is not.
Andrew Hankinson
@ahankinson
Jun 09 2015 15:52

:)
Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 15:53
It is not not not null
Anyways, thanks. I’m going to rollback and see if that helps.
It worked with an older version, so I’ll try to get that up and running.

evan magoni
@magoni
Jun 09 2015 16:51

Ryan Bannon
@mrbannon
Jun 09 2015 17:10
@magoni what backbone are you using and have you setup any View events?
evan magoni
@magoni
Jun 09 2015 18:17
i'm using backbone 1.1.2, backbone.marionette 2.4.1
i'm using 'click' events but not using the UI object to set them up
