@GarthDB — figured this was easier than opening an issue… any specific reason why you didn't disable_external in the Rakefile?
anyone alive here? :)
so, i have a question for the Open Source Design peoples...
I'm just starting to develop a new project. It is founded in open source licenses and principles of sharing, transparency etc
It is pretty dead here :)
ah. howdy :)
its a pity
i thought it to be a good initiative, is a shame if it died so early
Truly. I'm active on a few other gitter pages, so I saw this pop right up.
I think people are still kind of interested, but not sure how to actually contribute/ask for help
so, who started this and who is still involved?
because i have a proposition
I first heard of this from a talk at ConvergeSE. Who is still involved, I don't know. The concept of Open Source is that everyone is involved. I just don't think as of right now there's a popular open source community for this
Well shoot out your proposition, maybe we can get something moving
so.... I think Open Source culture is pretty much not tooled for the development of good user facing products
it is a tech-centric development methodology-culture, essentially
so anyways...i want to change that in my own project (which uses open source licences)
i think the question is not 'how can designers particpate'..i think the question is 'how do we set the right culture from the beginning'
one where all contribs are contribs and valued equally
we need the right tools, processes, language...the whole shooboodle
and i'm prepared to put resources behind it to make it happen
what i want to know, is how to start it off on the right foot and get designers in from the beginning (we are only just 4 months old)
so i'd be keen to talk to anyone that would like to be part of creating amore diverse culture for the development of fantastic open source products (as opposed to infratruture)
So you're talking about putting resources out ahead of time to develop good ui components in an open source community (a community that has good ui components here and there, but mostly not)
im talking about wanting to work with people that want to develop an inclusive, diverse culture for making products that are open source
Hello, I'm workin as a UI/UX Designer at Tril. I'm planning to "open" all the editable files of the app, the styleguide, the animations, etc. I'm not sure if I should upload them to a public repo in GitHub or link them in Dribble shoots, or both. But anyway I where thinking in using the "open design" logo.
