@sobeyharker_twitter Firstly, you need to sort out your subreddit. I get that you have a busy schedule, which is exactly why /u/LillyKitteh asked you to mod her and /u/hypertextpp a while back. You need a public face.
Secondly, set up a PGP system for private comms rather than trying to manage people with a million different programs and methods. If someone doesn't recognise the value of GnuPGP and the fact that math and system hasn't been cracked for 25 years despite attempts to do so by GCHQ and NSA, they aren't worth having onboard. I get that they might be wary of Gitter, but PGP is solid security, and you can be damn sure we'd hear about it if it wasn't. It only took about an hour for the leaders to set up this system.
Thank you for the feedback and I'll take that under advisement. I can understand why you're keen to get Lil/Hyper on /r/DigitalRightsTrust and I know we have to get the subreddit up but essentially once we start moving we cannot stop or we lose momentum this week (and past) I've not had the time to oversee things. Modding people I've had minimal contact with to push an agenda that I am not completely familiar with does not seem like a wise action imo. I am sure they're completely trustworthy but allow for me to get up to speed with the team I'm forming here first.
Cheers.
@sobeyharker_twitter The rest of your comment, fair enough, but just to clarify:
push an agenda that I am not completely familiar with
The only agendas we have are pro-whistleblower (and thereby pro-transparency), pro-privacy, pro-freedom, pro-human-rights, pro-open-source (and thereby Linux), pro-libre (and thereby pro-Free-Software-Foundation, hence the image on our subreddit sidebar) and anti-surveillance. I'm sure none of those are disagreeable inclinations to you. I know /u/LillyKitteh is anti-state given she's an anarchocapitalist atm, but that's not an official standpoint.
