@eddiana: Beth is getting errors with my build script for ZLib, but it works fine on my computer. If it is not too much trouble, could you please try running this script ("python build.py build_zlib.py") if you get a chance? Thank you.

sure, give me a sec and I'll try it
@surge-cmcgeorge looks to run ok. It builds zlib.dll, zlib.lib, zlib.pdb, zlib_d.dll, zlib_d.lib, zlib_d.pdb

Thanks, Guys........I appreciate your time.........I'll take a look at it and I'll let you know when I figure it out..........might uninstall the previous versions of Visual Studio that are on this machine........might just go out and get another one.........the machine I'm running on is only 2 years old, but it was a Windows 8 (bought it for testing) which I had to bump up to 8.1 in order to bump up to Windows 10......who knows? Thanks again......sorry to bother you.......

Hello again............After further review, I'm not totally convinced that the problem is my machine, mostly because I've run multiple other scripts that are running correctly..........if it's okay with you guys, I'd like to get in there and debug it, since it only seems to be manifesting on this machine...........if you guys don't want me to do that, please just let me know...........thanks............

@BethOkun: Hi, Beth. Of course I do not mind you debugging my script, but I feel bad that you have to go through the trouble. Is there anything that I can do to help?

What kind of errors is it giving?

Hi guys.............there's an error "can't find sys\types.h" coming from "zconf.h"....then it can't find zlib1.dll..............I looked on my machine and there are several sys\types.h files......
I hate to spend the day uninstalling previous versions of Visual Studio..............I guess it would be worth it if it fixes the problem...........what do you think?
It's also true that I haven't seen this behavior in some other scripts I looked at..........I think I'll look at some more to see if I find the problem anywhere else before I start uninstalling everything.............
Thank you all ......

@BethOkun: I think that I figured out the issue! ZLib requires what is called "Windows Kits," which I thought was installed automatically with Visual Studio 2015. Did you do a full install when you installed Visual Studio 2015?

@BethOkun: Sorry for the all of the trouble. To save you time, I can simply send you the compiled ZLib files, and we can revisit this issue if it occurs on the virtual machines.

Thanks, Chris......that sounds good......the entire Professional 2015 is still installing (almost done).......If you don't mind sending me the ZLib files I'll get going on it, and then I'll let you know after the install is done if that fixed the problem. I really appreciate it......thanks.....

@BethOkun: I am having trouble sending the ZLib files using our SURGE e-mails, so I uploaded it to Dropbox:

Please let me know if you have trouble downloading from Dropbox.

@BethOkun: You're welcome, Beth. I would hate for you to get a new machine, though, and I am sorry that you spent so much time on this issue!

@BethOkun I just checked my machine... here's all the sys/types.h files if you want to compare with the ones you have in case it gives a clue about why it can't find it:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\crt\src\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\include\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\VC\crt\src\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\VC\include\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\VC\WPSDK\WP80\crt\src\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\VC\WPSDK\WP80\include\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\crt\src\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\include\sys\types.h
c:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Include\10.0.10150.0\ucrt\sys\types.h

@eddiana: Thank you, Ed.
@BethOkun: Please notice the Visual Studio version numbers (11.0, 12.0) in this list. (We are, of course, using Visual Studio 2015 (14.0).) And please notice the "Windows Kits" at the end of this list.
