Hi, anyone here? having a hard time with changing the color of input box on materialize. it is working for some input, but for others it is not. can you help? here is the code pen
@doughballs i found a way to insert it but inside a button and the css code is too long.
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@weirdjon show us what you got...

also did you see this pen re text inputs?:

https://codepen.io/doughballs/pen/ExjmXKo

Also, when you say inside select - do you mean the text input that you click into to open the dropdown?
weirdjon
@weirdjon
maybe on the its left side? maybe whch one is better
checking that pencode now. not sure if i can search any resolved questions here. sorry if that has been raised before
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@weirdjon no I just meant did I already show it to you, a lot of people ask and I lose track.
weirdjon
@weirdjon
ohh no. this is the first time seeing it. can this also be used for the textarea element? trying it with that and does not seem to work
nvm
i got it! hahaha
Sean Doherty
@doughballs

@weirdjon great. I recommend taking a look at the sass files here:

https://github.com/Dogfalo/materialize/tree/v1-dev/sass/components

and in particular for input fields:

https://github.com/Dogfalo/materialize/blob/v1-dev/sass/components/forms/_input-fields.scss

You can see exactly what rules are being set, and if you use Sass in your projects, you can set new values at root, rather than overriding, in your own css.

weirdjon
@weirdjon
let me try that. i haven't use Sass to be honest since I am not actually a front-end dev. haha
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@weirdjon Sass is AWESOME!

@ChildishGiant
https://github.com/Dogfalo/materialize/blob/v1-dev/js/dropdown.js#L532 This line seems to be causing an error when using dropdown from local builds (npm run release). Any ideas?

Hi Guys, Im facing a problem using select and im unable delete the elements .im destroying the instance and when i intializing it the old data is still showing up.How to handle the dynamic data manipulation in the select?any help would be appriciated.
Thank you

@YARDSKY
Hey guys! I've got one question about materialize carousel. How can I add buttons to click on another image? Thx
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@nikith14 you need to target the original hidden select element, make your changes, then re-init.

@YARDSKY sorry, I din't understand what you mean. Do you mean previous/next buttons? If so - there are included functions .next() and .prev() that you can attach to any old button.

see https://codepen.io/doughballs/pen/PoNGLER

@ChildishGiant when you npm install, are you fixing all the vulernabilities? (I had to run sudo audit fix force)
Sadovsky Sergey
@YARDSKY
@doughballs yeah, I meant this one)
Thx a lot
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@YARDSKY great, that example is a little overcomplicated, to handle multiple carousels on screen. If you just have one, you can simple call instances[0].next()
Sadovsky Sergey
@YARDSKY
@doughballs well, understood)
thx

Hello I am trying to use the Materialize Content Carousel, and I was wondering how to resize it so it does not take up the width of the whole page

@bluewolf2072
What is the best over htlm/css guide-line to use for applying any form of Text Body on top of Responsive videos regardless if its for background or non background... ie, H1 -H5 etc and P elements.

Hi @doughballs , unfortunately, my Select becomes like this instead of going on a downward direction when I used css to change font color of labels. any possible reason for that so I can force it to go downward instea of upward?
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@aadoshi link or codepen to what you have so far please?

@bluewolf2072:

Not sure there are concrete rules but it's thought to sensible to start with H1 and work down, so whatever kind fo content the video overlay wouod fit into, use that heading + p.

https://yoast.com/how-to-use-headings-on-your-site/

"Firstly, you are limited to using one H1 heading on each page. The H1 heading should be the name/title of the page or post.

Then, as you write your content, you can use H2 and H3 subheadings to introduce different sections
"

Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@weirdjon css adjustments to font color won't change the direction of a select.
nikith14
@nikith14
@doughballs this is the structure of select .How do i manipulate data on it .
image.png
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@nikith14 that’s the structure of the dropdown, no the select. Look below this for the original select that you used. That’s what you need to update using JavaScript/jQuery

@eliasnemr
Hey, I have a quick question - how come my form select (which I put in a <li> tag) is being overlay-ed by the parenting-div.. how do i overcome that? I want the select window to be appended to the body instead
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@eliasnemr we'd need to see this...

Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@doughballs do you mean you'd like the dropdown to appear below the trigger, rather than cover it?
Elias
@eliasnemr
Yes
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
when you initialise the select, pass dropdownOptions = {coverTrigger: false}

So:

M.FormSelect.init(elems, { dropdownOptions = {coverTrigger: false} })

Elias
@eliasnemr
Great, thanks
Sean Doherty
@doughballs
@eliasnemr let me know if it doesn't work, that was off the top of my head (untested) but should be right...

<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/materialize/1.0.0/js/materialize.min.js"></script>

<h4 style="text-align: center">Hello Rooster 🐔</h4>

<div class="row">
<div class="input-field col s6">
<input id="fname" type="text" class="validate">
<label for='name'>Name</label>
</div>
</div>

<div class="row">
<div class="col s6">
<a onclick="M.toast({html: fname})" class="btn">Toast!</a>
</div>
</div>```

When clicking toast, the input field is moving

@eliasnemr
It wasn't what I was looking for, but I got it working by setting overflow: unset on the <ul>
hcrev
@hcrev
Heya, is it possible to pass options or select to the select form (and select an option) via js? Found dropdownOptions in the Select docu but does not seem to specify the syntax for passing in data.
M.FormSelect.init(elem, {
          'dropdownOptions':{
               'data':[
                   {'option': 'Option 1', 'selected': true},
                   {'option': 'Option 2}
               ]
          }
 });
hcrev
@hcrev
just in theory.. but looking for something like this.
