    It's that time of year, when AOC starts up again and I find myself waking up far too early to tackle these puzzles! ;-)

    It's good to see you all back on the AOC leaderboard again... lets see how far I get this year the challenge eats up too much of my brain power.. nice to see it's started simple for the first couple.

    bugger, I'm actually going to have to write some code. Day 3 part 1 in Excel was easy, part 2 would be a pain in Excel

    @jongeorge1
    Time to break out the VBA?

    Morning Guys, new earthware dev here - joining up, signing in and saying hi! Just finished day 2.
    Thanks @IainMNorman for the invite!

    I've written code in far worse languages than VBA this year 😉
    I spent some time this year with ExactTarget's AMPScript. A language that has no classes, no functions and no arrays
    was a blessed relief when I moved onto ExactTarget's server-side JS. Which is ECMAScript 3.0 from 20 years ago. And they stack has basically zero error handling, you put JS in a landing page, publish it and then load the page to see if there was a 500 error or not (with no detail beyond, there was a 500 error indicating either a syntax error or maybe you called an API the wrong way)
    but no, I won't be venturing into VBA for AoC, need to decide on python, js or c# 10

    Greetings @leewilkie!
    Haven't thought through part one yet, no time. I could go ahead and just loop over strings but...
    Andy Norman
    @andynormancx
    Or…
    Iain M Norman
    @IainMNorman
    Might wanna move that to spoilers :)
    Andy Norman
    @andynormancx
    Or not
    Iain M Norman
    @IainMNorman
    Or not what?
    Andy Norman
    @andynormancx
    Indeed
    Iain M Norman
    @IainMNorman
    Are you well?
    I'll have to think about part 2 later.
    Paul
    @Meakeel
    I just used loops!
    Lee Wilkie
    @leewilkie
    Have done... keep my cards to my chest and all that!
    Iain M Norman
    @IainMNorman
    :)

    I just used loops!

    They are getting you 2nd place!

    I presume @Scarecrowe you are getting up stupid early as usual.

    4:30 wake up for me
    Someone else on the nor dev leader board is starting at 5am also
    I did part one yesterday in 5.31 yet i still ranked 3618
    Scarecrowe
    @Scarecrowe
    Cant believe that out of over 100'000 people only 4000 odd completed part two yesterday
    I feel that submarine will come back in later puzzles

    That's 4% that DIDN'T do part 2 @Scarecrowe ?

    @gingemonster

    Iain M Norman
    @IainMNorman
    Can you do "function SolveAdventOfCode2021Day1Part1(input) TAB..."
    Brian Norman
    @gingemonster
    int SolveAdventOfCode2021Day1Part1(string input)
    {
        return 0;
    }
    no :-( or not till its indexed everyones
    Iain M Norman
    @IainMNorman
    LOL.
    How's day three going.
    You should livestream the pain.
    I'd watch.
    It sounds fun.
    Searching for the right function name etc.

    @gingemonster
    Trying to work out how to get it to split the grid into columns or anything that would allow me to sum each is proving a challenge
    Scarecrowe
    @Scarecrowe
    Certainly more challenging today :D
    Robert Giffin
    @RobGiffin
    Nice work Dan, I was so close to getting second place today, but Paul just beat me to completing part two. Was a good challenge.
    Iain M Norman
    @IainMNorman
    Oh ffs. Did we just play a ‘squid game’?

    Day 4 in the AOC house. Part 1 = 2 hours of OOP lovelyness... part 2 = 2 minutes (phew...)
    Scarecrowe
    @Scarecrowe
    Another enjoyable puzzle today, when is the GPS coming :D
    Andy Norman
    @andynormancx
    decided it was finally time to start writing code rather than using Excel, just spent 90 minutes getting my node based runner back up and running from last year 😥
    first modern JS I'd written since AoC2020, should be fun
    what are all these funny arrow things ?! ;)
