... failed for me. It is because I did not ...
        import_service_options (l_options)
So, the server was operating without any options being set. I realized this today and now have it tested and running on the website.

@jvelilla
Hi Larry, did you check the video about SSL and AWS
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
I did, but it was very late and I was too tired to get the details correct. I have some client work to do for folks in NJ today and will get back after it this evening.
Javier Velilla
@jvelilla
yes, it was very late, talk to you later.
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
ALSO: I was thinking about this performance testing site that I found and wondered if I might be able to write something myself as a local utility that performs the same thing creating "Virtual Users" as SCOOP threads, where each one is just uses a cURL call to access a site page and load it. What do you think?
It would be nice to have such a tool that I can run locally at my leisure and have it collect the data and present it back to me when it is done.
Javier Velilla
@jvelilla
yes, it's interesting
Javier Velilla
@jvelilla
@ljr1981 Have you been able to test AWS Certificate Manager with your app?

I have not followed through on that

Good morning, guys!
Blocking error on EWF library code

@jocelyn
Hi Larry, I replied .. waiting for your answer
(sorry gitter.im notification does not seem great)
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
16.11 beta
(see group reply)
Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn
ok, just noticed your reply.
which version of 16.11 ?
latest dev (nightly) is 16.11.9.9675
By the way, why do you use 16.11 beta?
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
long story--my 16.05 went haywire and lost the debugger callstack feature and the only way i could get it back was to uninstall/reinstall ES. I chose 16.11 beta
haywire = ES encountered an internal error, which caused it to split all of its internal "windowed features" into separate OS-level windows (e.g. my taskbar in Windows suddenly had about 10 "windows"--one for each ES windowed-feature, like each editor, the groups, features, auto-test, and many others.
Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn

16.11 will be supported once it is officially released.

For now, all I can say, is that 16.11.9.9675 is working.
But still this is "dev" version.

If you download an old dev release .. I can not guarentee that you have one working fine for EiffelWeb
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
Ah,okay
will try soon
Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn
About your 16.05 installation
you can try to reset the preferences (via the preferences tool)
and also reset the docking layout, from the "View" menu ..
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
Good morning, All! :)
So--I have attempted a new install of ES 16.11 beta (linked above). And the results are in ...

Error code: VD01

Error: A library used by the current project or a parent target used by the current target cannot be used under the selected settings.
What to do: Lower your requirements or update the library or the parent target to match them.

Capability "Concurrency" of dependent target has value "Thread" insufficient for current target setting "SCOOP".
Current target
Name: edray_client
System: edray
File: C:\Users\LJR19\Documents\GitHub\edray\edray.ecf
Dependent target
Name: process
System: process
File: c:\program files\eiffel software\eiffelstudio 16.11 gpl\library\process\process.ecf

Interestingly enough -- I changed from SCOOP to Thread and she's compiling. However, it was SCOOP'd before with no issues. Now, I am wondering what's up with that? :)
Once compiled on my client, I will attempt to compile the test target, which is where I had the EWF issues.
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
YAY! My EWF-based ECF compiles as well!
I am officially unblocked once again
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
Hmmmmm ... well, I am returning to 16.05 and staying put. 16.11 has turned all of my projects into a royal mess!
Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn
All depends which version of 16.11 you are using.
we went throught many version to get the new notion of capability implemented right.
But now, with version 16.11.9.9675 projects using the new capabilities and also the older ecf project file based on previous ecf version are compiling fine. Or with minimal changes. And project can be compiled with 16.05 and upcoming 16.11 version.

Good morning, all!

I want to easily send email to and from a gmail account. I have tried cURL without success. I think it is because of the need for some kind of private local key (certification file). I have tried a few other generic and open source CLI programs as well, but they do not work—for the same reason I think.

The goal is: To install a program on a machine that has access to the internet, but does not have an internal email server, but the user relies on internet-based email like gmail.

Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn

Hi Larry

I guess your target machine is Windows?

Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn

I don't remember is gmail smtp server access simple smtp client
if yes, you can try the %ISE_LIBRARY%\contrib\library\runtime\process\notification_email\ Eiffel library. It includes among other a smtp solution.

Maybe gmail smtp requires TLS/SSL in this case, the notification_email lib does not yet support it.
But I guess this could be possible since we have the EiffelNet SSL extension now.
When the notification_email was built, we didn't had yet SSL support.

Note that Google smtp restricts the number of messages sent per day to 99 mails.
So it may not be the appropriate solution.
Alternative are web api sending mail for you.
Or dedicated smtp server without limit restriction.
(this page could help as well http://blog.mashape.com/list-of-10-email-apis/ )
Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn
typo in my previous message "I don't remember is gmail smtp server" .. read "I don't remember IF gmail smtp server ..."
Larry Rix
@ljr1981
It turns out that there were a number of issues with creating well-formed cURL calls from Eiffel to Mailgun. However, I handled them all and I am now communicating perfectly with Mailgun. I started with the sandbox and have started moving to the production version now.
Jocelyn Fiat
@jocelyn
Ok, good, note that if a service has a OAuth based web api, using "cypress", the Eiffel OAuth consumer, it is possible to wrap quite easily such web API.
It may be easier that using cURL directly.
Javier Velilla
@jvelilla
Hi @ljr1981 I saw your post about EiffelWeb and SSL maybe you can create a blog on Eiffel.org.
