@all ,
I see that, except Zaak and me, there is no interest to have a common/shared guidelines for the Group. However, I suspect that this Gitter room has "low-visibility". As a consequence, I am going to do the following steps:

  • create a new group's repo for our best practices that has no contents at all;
  • open some issues as open discussion where I like to discuss with all of you, expecially the most experienced of you like @zbeekman @certik @rouson @jacobwilliams @francescosalvadore @muellermichel .... in few words all except me :-), on some of my doubts;
  • wait some times to see if the discussion progress.

Aside, I would like to know how many of you read this Gitter room regularly. I often miss some posts because my try icon alerts are very.... small/fast for me :-( I am wondering why my email notification is not working properly (or not why it does not notificate all posts). Maybe the email notification works only if you add my nickname ( @szaghi ) explicitely?

See you soon.

I do keep track of the Gitter room, either through the desktop client (when I bother to have it open) or through the email alerts. I suspect that the reason you aren't getting the alerts is because you have the desktop client open in your tray--I'm pretty sure it considers you as having been notified in that case and doesn't bother with the email.
As for the best-practices, I would be open to such a thing being established for the group. However, I'm far less experienced with Fortran than you are @szaghi, so other than putting forward a few basic preferences I wouldn't feel hugely confident in contributing.

@cmacmackin wow, I never thinked that the desktop client could disable email notifications! Thank you very much! Af the Fortran stuff... your help is very appreciated! See you soon. P.S. very nice your new blog "suit"!

I ready this chat regularly, also thanks to Gitter Android app, that helps me to don't miss any message. My Fortran experience is very very limited, but I think that a dedicated chat for "Best Fortran practices" could be an interesting alternative to a dedicated repo... In a chat is very easy to discuss also in real time, while a repo is more difficult to follow

@giacombum I disagree. I think a repo offer more space to discuss (with quoted example, different issue for different topi). Hopefully, we could collect all the agreeded opinions to collective document.
I know chat is more fast, but I hope to have a more opionated list, with sources/documentations/examples...

@szaghi yes, you're right: a repo is more organized, clean and can contain code examples, but I'm fear that the discussion on a repo could be too much "dispersive"... maybe the right choiche is a discussion on a chat with links to your repo :-)
