blitzkraft yes about a thousand lines, a block for each module saying it can't find pyside to load during module init.

PySide2/init.py: Unable to import shiboken2 from /home/mac/.FreeCAD/Mod/kicadStepUpMod

blitzkraft it seems just the path it is searching is wrong. test if symlinking works
blitzkraft check the source in pyside2/init.py. see the import paths. check python module paths.

I get back to it until morning. but I thought the appimage was self contained, why won't it run?

natrius Hello, how can i snap directly to a line? Like, i have the top line of a T and want to draw the bottom one and snap it to the top of the T.
natrius I cannot find any snap-setting for that.
natrius I thought "entity" will do the trick, but nope :/
natrius Activated now: endpoints, center, entity and intersections

natrius in Sketcher? In Draft workbench? sorry not a mind reader.😎
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
natrius Ouh, sorry.
natrius I guess Draft?
natrius I just opened LibreCAD and started drawing.
macdroid53
@macdroid53
umm...this is FreeCAD, LibreCAD is different
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
natrius Wait
natrius How the heck.
natrius I'm so sorry :D

daddmac For macdroid53, hyarion, and others who responded/followed my problem created tool paths:
daddmac When I created a tool path of a swept (sweeping?) profile and path, and their lines in the sketch converged, I was unable create a tool path that would simulate the cut. I had to place the line of the path inside the profile edges, and then the tool path process worked as expected.
daddmac thanks for the suggestions and comments all!
daddmac this seems like product knowledge to me, or is this not expected? should i file a bug?

@macdroid53 Did you figure out your pyside problem?

Git help needed: I am working on a branch on my fork of FC. I did a pull --rebase upstream master, then a pull, and I'm getting a conflict in a file that I have not myself modified (src/Mod/Fem/femobjects/mesh_gmsh.py)
I see two commits on April 9, 43a2bb9 and 7d94e1b, that shouldn't be in there.
Leaving aside how I accidentally added those, what is the best way to get rid of them?
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
pedja 'git revert -n $commithash' ?
pedja ('-n' is, iirc, to avoid the 'commit was reverted' in the logs, or something like that (man git-revert :)))
macdroid53
@macdroid53
@chennes No, FC is still DOA that PC
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
pedja 'that PC'? how many computers round the shed you have, anyway :)?
macdroid53
@macdroid53
pedja depends on how you count. 15 or 16 if you count the ESP32 SBC's, raspberryPi's in my home control system. That includes 6 PC's, one is the firewall/VNC

@chennes i'd use the interactive rebase on gitkraken which allows you to remove commits from a rebase
not sure how to do that without a git gui
Chris Hennes
@chennes
I tried some things and made an even bigger mess, so I resorted to an old fashioned "make a new branch and copy the changes manually"
Fortunately it is mostly new files, so not a huge deal
macdroid53
@macdroid53
@chennes theres a thread in install/compile. My best guess is that both python and pyside have lost the correct linked directories...but, that explan why an appimage won
'won't run?
Chris Hennes
@chennes
Yeah, I thought appimages were sort of "bullet proof", but I think I'm getting them mixed up with Snap
macdroid53
@macdroid53
I gues I'm also surprised that removing all the deps and re adding them didn't fix it either.

On a different note. Am I the only one who finds the internal structure of geometry really convoluted? If not, can some one enlighten me? It seems that getting geometry info is like playing whack-a-mole.
