Hi all,
am trying to find my way in the python types of freecad objects.
Am on 0.19.
I have a cube created with the part workbench.
Am trying to find a way to get an understanding of what an "App::Part" and is my cube now an "App:Part".
Is there a way to explore this from the python console?
I got the reference to the cube by selecting it the GUI and running in the console:
>>> my_cube = App.ActiveDocument.ActiveObject
>>> my_cube
<Part::PartFeature>

@sliptonic
@TheMeaningfulEngineer Have you found some answers yet?
You can select objects in the tree, then under the edit menu "send to python console" This will give you a reference to the object in the console that you can use to explore it.

@sliptonic
Any object in the tree will be a Document object. That means it'll be persisted with the document. It'll generally have a viewobject which is it's visible aspect..colors, transparency, visibility, etc. geometric objects will generally have a Shape object property. The shape gives you access to the underlying geometry like volume, Boundbox, edges, faces, etc.

kryptokommunist Howdy everyone. Is there anyone with some knowledge of how GSoC @FreeCAD works who can check out my proposal drafts? So far of the people I contacted no one replied yet. I now plan on submitting two proposals tomorrow, assuming that submitting two proposals to FreeCAD is allowed. I'd highly appreciate some feedback :) Here's my first one: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lxe3MTVMQYnv6r3W7KuuzcKgY_rLS2Qgd6FjZlstwaU/edit?usp=sharing (You can directly comment in the document)
