cisinkt Hello Everyone, I need to export these attributes(marked with red rectangle https://screenshot.net/neekltk) of a diagram into CSV. Is there any plugin avaialble for that if now what would be best approch to achieve this.
cisinkt I need a feature to reimport it back in the system as well.

keesj Hi
keesj I like the parametric drawing of freecad (and created quite a few designs in the past for additive manufacturing on 3d printer). I am now working on a different type of project (pcb design and possibly drawing components in 3d). Right now I want to export a sketch as dxf (to import it into kicad as contour).
keesj The way I did it.. was create part,create sketch, draw, export 3d part to openscad , load into openscad and use projection to make it 2d again and export as dxf
keesj .. I am guessing there must be a better way but this does work.

@FreeCADGitter
keesj The main problem (currently) is that with the export to openscad the segments of the cicle I was drawing become visible
keesj can this be tweaked? I remember having similar issues with stl export
keesj https://i.imgur.com/ZJOdutP.png (import of openscad looks like this in freecad)

@FreeCADGitter
keesj it turns out I can select my shape and directly export to dxf

dagb I want to have a look at freecad. I intend to build from source. How stable is head?
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
trygvis I would use one of the binaries TBH
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
dagb trygvis: I see that the dependencies are... extensive. :-)
dagb trygvis: is your recommendation based on the work required to build the application, or due to stability issues?
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
trygvis dagb: on that installing the binary from debian is the least effort
Kurt Kremitzki
@kkremitzki
dagb: We are nearing a feature freeze so HEAD should be fairly stable

Knaldgas Why is this sketch under-constrained? https://pasteboard.co/HLgQkLo.png
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
Knaldgas Hmm, appeared that the lower right tangent constraint wasn't set properly... It solves now.

@aaryal
i must have missed something basic. i have a solid with a sketch attached on the bottom face, and another sketch attached on the top face. when i change the pocket dimension on the bottom sketch, the top sketch becomes invalid. it seems like i have to "fix" references etc.. anytime i change any parameter (that i reference from a spreadsheet). is there something i'm missing? is there another way to add sketch to a face so that the references don't go bad anytime i chance any parameter?
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
XXCoder you used sketches on same version of body? thats not recommanded, you just do one a time, do bottom sketch first then do pocket or whatever, then use new body to sketch on top
aaryal
@aaryal
ok. that makes sense.. how do i create the new body?
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
XXCoder "body" isnt right word really sorry
XXCoder just the object
XXCoder just do sketches one a time
XXCoder sketch, pad or pocket, then sketch on other side
aaryal
@aaryal
i did. i created sketch1. padded it. added sketch on the bottom face. pocketed it (pocket 1). added third sketch on the top face (sketch 3). pocketed it. if i go back and change the depth of "pocket 1", "sketch 3" gets broken.
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
XXCoder ahh thought you said you sketched both sides at same time then pocketed one
XXCoder sorry :)
aaryal
@aaryal
the error is "AttachEngine3D: subshape not found"
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
XXCoder wonder if thats bug
aaryal
@aaryal
I've seen lots of references to it and the general thread seems to be to go back and resolve references (re-attach the sketch to the face). I've also looked at "ShapeBinder" but my understanding is that that is for when you have two parts that need to share a "face" so that they fit together (?)..
i'm on v0.18 with Assembly3 workbench..
