@luzpaz
(sorry, don't mean to vent, but i was driven here by first-world problems :smirk: )

@luzpaz
kkremitzki, also another Known issue: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Install_on_Linux&action=edit (asadmins we can't even move this page)

@FreeCADGitter
GenTooMan I would like to replace part of a join / cut object how does one do this apart from redoing the entire object, I can copy and paste of the object to be replaced obviously.
GenTooMan I mean I can't copy and paste over the object I want to be replaced.

@FreeCADGitter
kkremitzki luzpaz: The page moving issue should be resolved/resolvable in the new staging environment
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
kkremitzki We have not changed any mediawiki/PHP session settings recently, they're still the defaults, so I don't really know where to go as far as troubleshooting the issue besides hoping it also would be resolved once things get moved over
kkremitzki The session should end when you close your browser or log out
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
kkremitzki If you can btw, please try to trigger the same page moving issue in the staging environment so we can confirm if that actually fixes it

markvandenborre what is the best way to clone a frame stud, so I can still:
markvandenborre - change the individual cloned stud properties (location mostly)
markvandenborre - do a kind of bill of materials when finished with the plan

raub I am trying to translate an object but the translation window only lets me move integer units, not fractions.
raub Suggestions?
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
raub NVM. Upgraded to 0.19 and all is well
luzpaz
@luzpaz
kkremitzki, I don't know how to trigger the issue in the new mediawiki. I wasn't the one who triggered it FWIW

The session should end when you close your browser or log out

kkremitzki, the question is what is the default duration of time the session times-out ? because I'm getting kicked off the wiki every 8-10 minutes or so (rough estimation) usually while im in the middle of editing a page.

Also..regarding MantisBT. It's not displaying images correctly AFAICT. Check out the first comment on https://tracker.freecadweb.org/view.php?id=3901

andre_kal Hi. Does anyone know if in FreeCAD I can make the MillFace operation go beyond the bound of the face but only where there is no more material? Example: the face mill operation doesn't go to the borders even though there is no material there: https://ibb.co/cNvGCzd
andre_kal *the boundary of the face
andre_kal The result is something like this (the problem areas are encircled)

@FreeCADGitter
scgtrp andre_kal: i've looked into it before and didn't find anything
scgtrp i keep meaning to try implementing it but i have too many other projects already
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
andre_kal scgtrp, Ok, I see, thanks!

@FreeCADGitter
markvandenborre ok, so this is silly; I forgot to add an 18mm layer of osb in my design
markvandenborre in the mean time, I have a group of ~50 pieces
markvandenborre that would all need to move up 18mm in the z axis
markvandenborre is that possible to do with freecad?
markvandenborre (except for moving every single piece higher individually?)
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
markvandenborre or is that only possible with something like a macro?
markvandenborre "find every member of this group and move it up 18mm"
markvandenborre ?
andre_kal markvandenborre, It works to just select multiple parts and change the position, doesn't it?
andre_kal Works for me at least. I can select multiple parts or bodies and when I change the position, it affects them all
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
markvandenborre andre_kal: I've found several solutions right now, not sure which one is preferable
markvandenborre andre_kal: select all objects in the groups
markvandenborre then go to edit -> placement...
andre_kal Well, the python console would be the most flexible I guess, especially if you have loads of objects.
markvandenborre thank you for the hint
markvandenborre it's been a productive day
markvandenborre I've modeled most of the foundation for our countryside house, and the first bits above ground
markvandenborre I believe it's the fourth or fifth time I'm starting to use FreeCAD, but now I really have a very practical goal
markvandenborre and somewhat of a deadline, for our contractor will soon be starting to work...
andre_kal You're going to use FreeCAD for architecture? I heard it wasn't the most intuitive thing to do, good luck!
FreeCADGitter
@FreeCADGitter
markvandenborre andre_kal: yes, it helps that the house is fairly simple in terms of structure
markvandenborre wood framed, rectangular
markvandenborre fairly symmetrical
