The disconnect between ‘brownie points’ and the cookie icon is bothering me. xD

@m-henderson
@hallaathrad looking good. Am I being to picky if i suggest we add the "s" to http?
Anders Richardsson
@caravinci

@caravinci
there :)
thank you guys for catching that, rather
soo... about the link to the local group finder... any chance anyone can take a minute to add it somewhere in the onboarding steps?
pretty sure it was there at some point, when we were keeping the list at the forums
Eric Leung
@erictleung
@hallaathrad it changed to .org :smile:
@hallaathrad the link is already in the production site https://www.freecodecamp.org/challenges/join-a-freecodecamp-study-group-in-your-city
@hallaathrad unless you're wanting a different link there. The link goes to a search box instead of the forum now.
Anders Richardsson
@caravinci
@erictleung ah, no! thanks :D it is there where you've said. that's great. I was just checking. it's been an odd pattern of people starting to ask

Austin Wiggins
@austinwiggins
@QuincyLarson how do you help with those?
Alan Luo
@alan-luo
@QuincyLarson @austinwiggins Yes, I would also like to know!
@erictleung @hallaathrad I thought the concern was that people miss it for whatever reason. Perhaps we could add a one-time pop up after they complete 3 challenges or something?
either way, I think it should be made more accessible, because it’s not obvious that you need to go to the map to find it
it’s possible that advanced users who are skipping the html5/css3 section never see the challenge
Alan Luo
@alan-luo
I’m about to start writing guides based on the issue I opened a few days ago. I’m wondering, should I open PRs every step of the way, or when I’ve finished the whole thing?
Anders Richardsson
@caravinci
@alan-luo you're right on that. We want people to join the groups.
And as of right now, that link seems to be the main gateway for them, yet a few seem to miss it for some reason
Alan Luo
@alan-luo
@hallaathrad I really don’t think it’s that surprising that they miss it, it’s kind of hidden away.
A simple solution is just to put more links to it around the site - headers, footers, etc.
I’ll open an issue and get on it if this is worth pursuing. (I have a lot of time this summer.)
Anders Richardsson
@caravinci

not sure how hidden it is to most newbies, but it could for sure be more visible in general.

Now, while adding it on the headers and footers may be a bit much, we could certainly make a point of promoting joining groups in our emails and medium posts.
One shouldn't need to know what challenge they've mentioned this at in order to find it

Alan Luo
@alan-luo
So, apparently it’s already in the header.
Community -> in your city
But that page redirects to a forum post rather than the challenge link.
So, perhaps we should change that link.
But the forum post is helpful, so maybe put a new page which says “Want to join? here’s a challenge and a forum post” or something like that

@hsribei sure

@m-henderson
could one of you give some response to this post on the forum ? (https://forum.freecodecamp.org/t/error-when-logging-in-with-facebook/138920) i dont know what to say because I thought logins to freeCodeCamp could only be authenticated with github.
mstellaluna
@mstellaluna
@m-henderson the only place that FCC uses that you can login with facebook is Codepen.
the beta seems disabled.. and the production its email or github
I replied asking him what link he was trying to access and mentioned it was codepen that's the only place I know that uses facebook authentication
