@l0k3ndr
Hi guys, you can check out my repo of mostly python notes here :- https://github.com/l0k3ndr/programming-notes
Also, feel free to ping hi, if you are working on something and just need a sound board for discussion.. especially datascience, ML, algorithm, DS and anything pythonic :D

@Adser89 I don't know if you've found an answer to your question, and I am not able to help, but you can try asking in the Programming Help category of FreeCodeCamp's forum

Hello , I have been working with Spark for my past two years . I am fascinated by its ease of use and the performance . I want to learn about its internals . I found some online resources but I do not understand in which I should proceed to dismantle the code . Whenever I want to learn from others code , I go to main function and then move inside . In this case , it is confusing . Any suggestions
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
Oh! I love Spark! I've never looked at it's internals, though. Have you tried looking for a developer blog or some kind of explanation for the code? @HG1112

Has anyone here seen The Fix on Netflix? I have mixed-but-leaning-poor feelings about the data they present and especially with the way they present it. :/
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
Okay so their data expert just presented data on my home state and the information she gave was correct, but had nothing to do with the subject she was trying to provide insight on. I'm actually in awe of how poor her research was...
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
If you guys are still planning on having a resource discussion group, might I suggest either the Data Science or Machine Learning subforums? The FCC forum already has a bit of momentum and it would allow a more broad participation. Besides, those subforums could use a little push into activity :wink:
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin
makes sense
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
Heya @pdurbin ! Long time, no see! You should head on over as well and see if there's anything you can ask or contribute as well :wink:
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin
Yeah. And you should come to DataFest next month. :)
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
Oof.... Timing is awful depending on what dates. I'll look into it, though
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
The Azure Data and AI fest?
I have two doctor appointments that day
On that Tuesday* I don't know that I'll be up for going out on Wednesday, either
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
OH that I should be free for. I'll know better closer to the date, of course
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin

@becausealice2 are you talking about the comedy show?

Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
okay now it sounds ridiculous. Yes, it is a comedy show but they do have a segment each episode where they have a "resident data expert" and I take issue with her analyses
@erictleung
Eric Leung
@erictleung
@becausealice2 ah I see. Good to know! I'll take a look when I have the chance. Thanks for sharing though!
frankieliu
@frankieliu
@becausealice2 @erictleung @AlexKara I decided to invest more time in another book https://github.com/d2l-ai, I generated a pull request to contribute to the book and think it is a good way of self-learning: by contributing to the book.
Please pm me if you would like to join in this effort.

@pdurbin
Does d3 count as data science? Because I'm struggling. :)
Eric Leung
@erictleung
@frankieliu thanks for sharing! I'll take a look when I have some time.
@pdurbin I'd consider it a part of data science :) what are you struggling with? I have to help teach it in a couple weeks but I'm not an expert, so I'd be great to get a head start on troubleshooting haha.
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin
@erictleung well, it's a long story but you can see the d3 stuff I'm working on in IQSS/dataverse#5603 :)
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
@pdurbin Of course D3 counts as data science! I've been working on all of absolutely nothing for many months now and I've had a bit of a hankering to get back into D3 and visualization, so let me know if I can be of any help!
@erictleung you too, let me know if there's anything you have questions about and we can see how well my memory serves (or how much of what I remember even applies to current versions of the library :worried: )
Eric Leung
@erictleung
Oh no :laughing: https://xkcd.com/2237/
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin
@becausealice2 oh! Well we have a meeting on Monday at 11:30 if you'd like to come. :)
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
I won't be able to make it, but I'll be available online sporadically over the next month if there's any questions @pdurbin
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin
sounds good, thanks :)
Hmm, maybe I should invite you to our #dataviz Slack channel. :)
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
I forgot Slack even existed. I don't know if I have it installed anymore
Philip Durbin
@pdurbin
There's a web interface for Slack that's pretty popular. But yeah, I use the fat client. I usually try to keep the app off my phone. :)

@MarkMcKinney
Hey everyone, got a quick question for you guys: I have users submitting open ended feedback and questions that I need to basically apply topics and keywords to. Any idea of how to build up those classification connections in the very beginning?
Alice Jiang
@becausealice2
@MarkMcKinney If you can use R, you can try having a look at this

@arita37

Hello,

Pytorch and TensorFlow version are missing.

For python, I wrote doc auto-extractor

How LSTM gets its name?
DJ Tinkers
@TinkersDj_twitter

ML QUESTION.

Underneath the hood for the statistical cross examinations.
Does the encoding column/row data remain the same?

I know the data get's translate to the programming languages encoding, but did the programmers encode further?

Eric Leung
@erictleung

@zzj0402_gitlab if you take a look at the more classic RNNs, they just have long-term dependencies among the data. In other words, just "long memory".

So the concept of LSTM (or long short-term memory) varies how much of this memory exists. Hence having long segments of short-term memory. Hope that helps.

@TinkersDj_twitter are you talking about cross validation? I'm not familiar with cross examination in statistics.
DJ Tinkers
@TinkersDj_twitter
Not cross validation. I'm referring to the initial examinations. A dataset gets uploaded. It has it's feature/attributes & the data in each column/feature. You send a command to search for patterns between each column/feature.
