ok so your checkbox only need checkbox.id = 'check' + taskNumber
and i think you can get taskNumber by doing document.getElementsByClassName('task').length

Hello....Having trouble figuring out where to put the I class in the submit button?
Eran Finkle
@finklez
Jan 23 2016 00:07

@ulans the for loop only needs

if ( contacts[i].firstName == firstName && contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop))
return contacts[i][prop]; or something like that

the 'else' part you only need return 'xx' after the for loop
@julianbetancourt yw, these things never easy

@ulans if you do else return you will never reach the other objects in the array if the first fails..
@zozoaco it should go between the closing > and the 'submit' text

Nest both of your div elements with the class "col-xs-6" within your div element with the class "row".

function lookUp(firstName, prop){
// Only change code below this line
  // first I should find the contacts array value where the firstName given by the user matches for me to do stuff

    // then lookup in that value to see if the prop exists

      //if it doesn't then return 'No such property'

      //if it does then just return the value of the prop

  // after the loop completes If no matches where found then return 'No Such contact'

// Only change code above this line
}

Miguel Palau

Jan 23 2016 02:24
I don't :(
haha
Hector Garcia
@augmt
Jan 23 2016 02:25
you've told me you want to use a while loop
so you can iterate over the contacts array with the while loop
looking at each item one at a time
if the contact's firstName matches the specified firstName then you move on to the lookup portion of your pseudo-code
if not, continue onto the next contact

Guys do you know how to set autofocus to a text input ?
I already looked it up: I can either set its attribute to autofocus, or use .focus(), but none of them seem to be working
var addTextInput = document.createElement('input');
    addTextInput.setAttribute('type', 'text');
    addTextInput.focus();
    addTextInput.id = 'new-task';
    addTextInput.className = 'new-task';
    addTaskContainer.appendChild(addTextInput);
=====================================================
var addTextInput = document.createElement('input');
    addTextInput.setAttribute('type', 'text');
   addTextInput.setAttribute('autofocus');
    addTextInput.id = 'new-task';
    addTextInput.className = 'new-task';

Nesting just means putting one element inside of another element.

Now nest your existing a element within a new p element (just after the existing h2 element) so that the surrounding paragraph says "View more cat photos", but where only "cat photos" is a link, and the rest of the text is plain text.

Just finished the "Chunky Monkey" challenge. This the code I used. I was wondering if there was a more elegant way to accomplish this?

"Write a function that splits an array (first argument) into groups the length of size (second argument) and returns them as a multidimensional array."

function chunk(arr, size) {
var newArr=[];
  var x=0;
  var y=size;
  for(var i=0;i<arr.length/size;i++){
    newArr.push(arr.slice(x,y));
    x+=size;
    y+=size;
  }return newArr;
}

chunk(["a", "b", "c", "d"], 2);

@tommygebru it makes sure you only run the function the amount of times it takes to divide the function into the required pieces.
So, if we run chunk(["a", "b", "c", "d"], 2)
it spits out ["a", "b"] and ["c", "d"]
but if i removed the " /size"
it spits out ["a", "b"],["c", "d"],[],[]
make sense?

i am trying to solve this waypoint so google alot and i didnot find any thing so i decide to write my own function but it is not working this is the function
function diff(a, b) {
    var differ = [];
    var common = [];
    for(var i = 0; i<a.length; i++) {
        common.push(a[i]);
        for(var j=0; j<b.length; j++) {
            if(!common) {
                differ.push(b[j]);
            }
        }
    }
    return differ;
}

Jacob Bass
@Jacob-Bass
Jan 23 2016 03:42
@tommygebru If change it to for(var i=0;i<size;i++) then it doesn't factor in varying sizes of arrays for the argument
say we used ([0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8], 4)
well we wouldnt need to run the function 4 times, we only need to run it 3 times. arr.length/size gives us 9/4=2 with a remainder of 1
javascript knows to run it three times.

@Jacob-Bass you're right :+1: thanks mate, my solution required changing the increment value
function chunk(arr, size) {
    var chunkBits = [];
    for (i = 0; i < arr.length; i += size) {
        chunkBits.push(arr.slice(i, i + size));
    }
    return chunkBits;
}
chunk(["a", "b", "c", "d"], 2);

change the font size of an element
FreddyAl
@FreddyAl
Jan 23 2016 05:11

Size your Images
CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Hello everyone! Need help! This is what it is asking me:

Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red. and my code is: <style>

h2{color:red;}

</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

Jan 23 2016 05:52

hey @kreyna01 - look at the example for how they declare the 'blue-text' class. Something like that should go between your style tags

the h2 {color:red;} sets the color to 'red' for all h2 elements. you want to set the color to red for all elements with class='red-text'

Brett

cannelflow
@cannelflow
Jan 23 2016 05:55
@willgorham yes like if i made focus time 22 the timer id should also be updated to 22
Will G
@willgorham
Jan 23 2016 05:56
it's more difficult because you're using text inputs instead of simple buttons - you'll have to use a jquery event listener
are you familiar with that at all?
cannelflow
@cannelflow
Jan 23 2016 05:58
@willgorham not much can you suggest any other way

@BLayman sorry I stepped away!
Will G
@willgorham
Jan 23 2016 06:01
@cannelflow well, now that I think about it an event listener would probably be the easiest, and it would be a cool thing to learn if you're up for it
here's an example:
tommy
@tommygebru
Jan 23 2016 06:02

@BLayman so the instructions ask to place the link they provide (in red) and place it above the html...
so that would be above the first html element:

<div class="container-fluid">
Now a language called bootstrap.css helps to modify the original & plain css :smile:

Will G
@willgorham
Jan 23 2016 06:03
If you want to listen for a click on a button with id='button1' you would do something like this:
$('#button1').click(function() {
  // do stuff here
});
@cannelflow in your case, you want to listen for a 'change' event on your text inputs. So for the first one:
$('#workT').change(function(){
  //do stuff
});
cannelflow
@cannelflow
Jan 23 2016 06:04

<link rel="stylesheet" href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>

<div class="container-fluid">
  <div class="row">
    <div class="col-xs-4">
      <button class="btn btn-block btn-primary">
        <i class="fa fa-thumbs-up"></i>Like</button>
    </div>
    <div class="col-xs-4">
      <button class="btn btn-block btn-info">
        <i class= "fa fa-info-circle"></i> Info</button>
    </div>
    <div class="col-xs-4">
      <button class="btn btn-block btn-danger">
        <i class="fa fa-trash"></i> Delete</button>
    </div>
</div>

Hi everyone. I would really like it if someone can help me with this one question I have. Does anyone have the solution for "Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors? It's part of the JQuery section all the way in the beginning and I just can't seem to understand what the problem is asking

@BLayman lol

the text on the "delete" button is still cut off, let me know if I'm missing something, or if that's just how it displays

that is probably the most common complaint on FCC :thumbsup:

@BLayman were you able to complete it ?
@vishalba What do you have ? :smile:

var string = "Split me into an array";
var array = [];

// Only change code below this line.
var arrayo = string.split('""');
array = arrayo;

myString.splice("""") is looking for extra quotation marks within the string
