and give it the parameters you want just like you do in the class

@Melinaduffy90 is it "cat-photo-element" or "cat-photo-form"?
Maybe you would rather put definition of #cat-photo-form id between <style> and </style> tags?
Melina Duffy
@Melinaduffy90
Feb 02 2016 00:28

@Takumar Use an ID Attribute to Style an Element
Here's an example of how you can take your element with the id attribute of cat-photo-element and give it the background color of green. In your style element:

#cat-photo-element {
  background-color: green;
}

Note that inside your style element, you always reference classes by putting a . in front of their names. You always reference ids by putting a # in front of their names.

Try giving your form, which now has the id attribute of cat-photo-form, a green background.
Give your form element the id of cat-photo-form.
Your form element should have the background-color of green.
Make sure your form element has an id attribute.
Do not give your form any class or style attributes.

Thats the question. to make my form element green.

@Takumar
Feb 02 2016 00:29
@Melinaduffy90 yes but "cat-photo-element" is only example. In instruction you have:
Try giving your form, which now has the id attribute of cat-photo-form, a green background.
Give your form element the id of cat-photo-form.

So the answer is:
<style>
  // your previous code

#cat-photo-form {
  background-color: green;
}
</style>

function telephoneCheck(str) {

telephoneCheck("555-555-5555");
Return true if the passed string is a valid US phone number
The user may fill out the form field any way they choose as long as it is a valid US number. The following are all valid formats for US numbers:
555-555-5555, (555)555-5555, (555) 555-5555, 555 555 5555, 5555555555, 1 555 555 5555
For this challenge you will be presented with a string such as "800-692-7753" or "8oo-six427676;laskdjf". Your job is to validate or reject the US phone number based on any combination of the formats provided above. The area code is required. If the country code is provided, you must confirm that the country code is "1". Return true if the string is a valid US phone number; otherwise false.
Remember to use <a href='//github.com/FreeCodeCamp/freecodecamp/wiki/How-to-get-help-when-you-get-stuck' target='_blank'>RSAP</a> if you get stuck. Try to pair program. Write your own code.

I'm feeling confused. Working on Golf Code. Everything but Bogey works. Here's the code: function golfScore(par, strokes) {
// Only change code below this line
if (strokes == 1) {
return "Hole-in-one!";
} else if (strokes == 2) {
return "Eagle";
} else if (strokes == 3) {
return "Birdie";
} else if (strokes == 4 || strokes == 5) {
return "Par";
} else if (strokes == 5 && par == 4) {
return "Bogey";
} else if (strokes == 6) {
return "Double Bogey";
} else if (strokes == 7 || strokes == 9) {
return "Go Home!";
}
// Only change code above this line
}

// Change these values to test
golfScore(5, 4);

@JudyLW You're hard coding the strokes
@JudyLW You're assuming that no matter what when you get 5 or 4 strokes it's a BOGEY.. But if you read the instructions it says when you're between # and # OVER par.
Anyone do the roman numerals?

I am at javascript(stand in Line). Have to code a queue function. I don't no really how. Here is my code:

``function queue(arr, item) {
// Your code here

array = [arr];

array.push(item);

var deleted = array.shift();

return deleted; // Change this line
}

queue(1,2);

// Test Setup
var testArr = [1,2,3,4,5];

// Display Code
console.log("Before: " + JSON.stringify(testArr));
console.log(queue(testArr, 6)); // Modify this line to test
console.log("After: " + JSON.stringify(testArr));

@ikrougovoi 4 or 5 strokes is Par. But for Bogey, you must have par 4 and strokes 5. That's why I put in the &&. I think the problem may be that I don't know what Par means. Also instructions said that Par is not negative. But, there are items listed in the Par column that are negative.

Currently this is the code I have:

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
p {
font-size: 16px;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
<p>Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.</p>

But for some reason I cant get past the Font size challenge. I have my browser zoom at 100%. I would appreciate any help.

@NothingLeft can you give more details regarding the challenge
Aldana
@NothingLeft
Feb 02 2016 02:23

These are the instructions provided for the Change the Font Size of an Element challenge:

Font size is controlled by the font-size CSS property, like this:
h1 {
font-size: 30px;
}

Create a second p element with the following kitty ipsum text: Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.

Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.
Also, please do not add any extra classes to your new element.

I am confused on what I should do on the Golf Code waypoint.

function golfScore(par, strokes) {
  // Only change code below this line

  return "Change Me";
  // Only change code above this line
}

// Change these values to test
golfScore(5, 4);

This is the code and I just need to know how to get started.
Instructions: In the game of golf each hole has a par for the average number of strokes needed to sink the ball. Depending on how far above or below par your strokes are, there is a different nickname.

Your function will be passed a par and strokes. Return strings according to this table (based on order of priority - top (highest) to bottom (lowest)):
Strokes Return
1 "Hole-in-one!"
<= par - 2 "Eagle"
par - 1 "Birdie"
par "Par"
par + 1 "Bogey"
par + 2 "Double Bogey"

= par + 3 "Go Home!"
par and strokes will always be numeric and positive.

@y0el22 You know if 10 ÷ 3, you will get 3 because 3×3=9, and left 1 behind because 10-9=1. If 50 ÷ 8, you will get 6 because 6×8=48, and left 2 behind because 50-48=2. Remainder, is that "Left behind".
I hope you know what I mean......

Feb 02 2016 04:38
I believe you need to pass the parameters to the constructor... the public methods (wheels, seats, engines) already have variables assigned to them in the call to the constructor
so the public methods should be assigned the names of the variables (wheels, seats, engines)

Feb 02 2016 05:00
@marius1892 Into a dead link, or a link?
Marius
@marius1892
Feb 02 2016 05:00
Turn an Image into a Link

You can make elements into links by nesting them within an a element.

Nest your image within an a element. Here's an example:

<a href="#"><img src="http://bit.ly/fcc-running-cats"></a>

Remember to use # as your a element's href property in order to turn it into a dead link.

Once you've done this, hover over your image with your cursor. Your cursor's normal pointer should become the link clicking pointer. The photo is now a link.

Give a background color to a div element - not accepting it states that "div element should have a gray background" but I do have that does anyone know reason why it's not accepting this? Here is my code...

.thick-green-border {

border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {

Well it's the classification
seanvsville
@seanvsville
Feb 02 2016 06:05
I mean I thought the red-text class was defined in the style tag
RiRiiser33
@RiRiiser33
Feb 02 2016 06:05
CSS has to know what your talking about so you have to classify what you want to be edited
It is

When you do

```
Wait
Devin Gray
@dgray0229
Feb 02 2016 06:06
the style tag tells the class what to do, but you still have to assign the class to an element
RiRiiser33
@RiRiiser33
Feb 02 2016 06:06
<h2 class="red-text">
You're defining the specific h2 tab.
@seanvsville
Feb 02 2016 06:06
ohh ok
RiRiiser33
@RiRiiser33
Feb 02 2016 06:07
Then when you put it in the style tags...
seanvsville
@seanvsville
Feb 02 2016 06:07
so in other words the red.text defines the change then the h2 class, applies that definition?
Why does freecodecamp style this tag like this:
When it can be styled like this:
h2 {font-family: Lobster, Monospace;}
Doesn't the single line look better and is easier to ready for single-definition elements?
:point_right: brownie points [wiki]
The number beside your picture on Free Code Camp tells you how many Brownie Points you have.
A user profile picture next to a with Brownie Points score
There are three ways you can get Brownie Points:
  1. Complete challenges - you get one point per challenge you complete
  2. Post relevant links on Camper News - you get 1 point for posting a link, and another point for each upvote your link gets
  3. Help other campers in chat - each time you help another camper and they thank you (by typing "thanks @yourname"), you will get a point
Brownie Points help you look like the kind of person who codes a lot, shares relevant links, and helps people.
They also add to your Streak.
Checkpoint: Profile Lookup
Instructions
We have an array of objects representing different people in our contacts lists.
A lookUp function that takes firstName and a property (prop) as arguments has been pre-written for you.
The function should check if firstName is an actual contact's firstName and the given property (prop) is a property of that contact.
If both are true, then return the "value" of that property.
If firstName does not correspond to any contacts then return "No such contact"
If prop does not correspond to any valid properties then return "No such property"
Remember to use Read-Search-Ask if you get stuck. Try to pair program. Write your own code.
Hello, I've problem with task from jQuery "Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors" I've tried to do this alone but still I dont know how to "Only add one class with each of your three selectors. " My code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass("animated bounce");
$(".btn").addClass("animated shake");
$("#target1").addClass("btn-primary");
});
Darla Sudheer
@sudheerdarla
Feb 02 2016 12:10
@Rambosiek dont use two animated classes just use one time
those three classes will apply sequentially to that element consisting those ids and classes and element names.
so use animated, shake and btn-primary classes only
dhruv
@devthedeveloper
Feb 02 2016 12:13
why dont you use $('button').addClass('class1 class2 class3...classn')
why using three lines of code
??
Robert Pietrzykowski
@Rambosiek
Feb 02 2016 12:14
Because in a task I need to use them:
Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
@JoeDlomu depends on what you want
if you later want to change the properties, you want a setter method
if you just create one-off objects, no setter is required
Your a element should be nested within your new p element.
Your p element should have the text "View more " (with a space after it).<p> view more <a href='http://freecatphotoapp.com'></a>
