@CamieleonGitHub you want to make gitrepo?
CamieleonGitHub
@CamieleonGitHub
Feb 17 2016 02:44
yes... i'm actually using gitlab but my issue is about git itself i think
i tried to push some content to the remote server, but some files got corrupted and now i can't acces the project anymore
CamieleonGitHub
@CamieleonGitHub
Feb 17 2016 02:45
so my question is, how do i send some kind of git message to the remote server that wipes the project entirely
i know how the interface works, but deleting the project and starting from scratch doesn't help, because the files are still in there even after deleting the project
i use source tree
isn't there some kind of git command i can put in terminal that resets the (remote) project on the remote server?
(source tree's built-in terminal)
CamieleonGitHub
@CamieleonGitHub
Feb 17 2016 02:52

if i go to the project page after deleting it and creating a new project with the same name, it says:
404

The page you're looking for could not be found.

Make sure the address is correct and that the page hasn't moved.

Please contact your GitLab administrator if you think this is a mistake.

i have no idea how to contact a gitlab administrator, but i doubt it would help to be honest
so i thought, why not try to reach some experts on the interwebz that use git all the time :)

https://help.github.com/articles/removing-a-remote/
in this atricle there's a note:
"Note: git remote rm does not delete the remote repository from the server. It simply removes the remote and its references from your local repository."
What i want is to empty the remote repository and actually delete the remote repository from the server.
what command would i use for this purpose?

function wordBlanks(myNoun, myAdjective, myVerb, myAdverb) {
  var result = "";
  // Your code below this line
  Console.log("I " + "hate " + "pretty " + "forever. ")
var wordBlanks="myAdjective " + "myNoun " + "myAdverb " + "myVerb " + "forever. ";
  // Your code above this line
  return result;
}

// Change the words here to test your function
wordBlanks("dog", "big", "ran", "quickly");
@Dsands78 ok, so FCC will call your function wordBlanks, with the arguments, "dog" "big" "ran" and "quickly".

You need to create a string with these 4 words and then return it:

return string

Craig Banach

Feb 17 2016 07:04
@ShihYu619 when you say color:blue, why do you expect it to be red?
Huang Shih-Yu
@ShihYu619
Feb 17 2016 07:05

Now let's change the color of some of our text.

We can do this by changing the style of your h2 element.

The style that is responsible for the color of an element's text is the "color" style.

Here's how you would set your h2 element's text color to blue:

<h2 style="color: blue">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Change your h2 element's style so that its text color is red.

I followed by the instruction.
Craig Banach
@CraigBanach
Feb 17 2016 07:07
@ShihYu619 clearly you didn't, it tells you to change the style element so that it is red, you have changed it so that it is blue. Why do you expect it to be red?
what you've done is copy-paste, which is not what it told you to do.

@mallowigi when you click on a dead link with # it redirects to the same page, by using Javascript:Void(0) you're cancelling that redirect back to the page which works better with JQuery and other Javascript

Alessandro Giordo

Elior Boukhobza
@mallowigi
Feb 17 2016 11:50
it's just saying that if you create an anchor without href or with empty href, it will prevent the default behavior
this is useful for links that do not "link" but instead execute a javascript action (onclick)
ajax may be an example of that, yes
SJV83
@SJV83
Feb 17 2016 11:51
won't an empty href just link back to the current document?

@mallowigi I was thinking because it doesnt cause page reloads
Elior Boukhobza
@mallowigi
Feb 17 2016 11:52
no, an empty href will do nothing (and also render as a regular text)
its' not related @anthonygallina1 , usually you need to prevent default manually when assigning an ajax action

Feb 17 2016 13:32
@avneetmalhotra Those are variables used by the CSS preprocessor. While the CSS seems to be quite compact, the preprocessor will generate 300 keyframe sequences (one for each pixel, shown on "view compiled"). This can be nice (easy to write/modify), but the generated CSS tend to be quite heavy. Very impressive use of that technology :D

You need 2 p elements with Kitty Ipsum text.
Make sure each of your p elements has a closing tag.
Your p element should contain the first few words of the provided additional kitty ipsum text.
Do not add a class attribute to your new p element.
Give elements with the p tag a font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

Not sure what causes this. Reports are that the visible effects differ because of different caching (anti-virus software often prevents caching or creates its own cache, that's why it created/made visible the issue for some people), which would not change on reinstall.

var Car = function() {

  this.decelerate = function() {

Hey guys, is anyone else having trouble on the "Return Early Pattern Functions" challenge in JavaScript?

My answer is as follows:
'''
// Setup
function abTest(a, b) {
// Only change code below this line
if (a, b <= 0){
return undefined;
}

// Only change code above this line
return Math.round(Math.pow(Math.sqrt(a) + Math.sqrt(b), 2));
'''

This works for most problems apart from:

'''abTest(-2,2)'''

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?
Thanks

@codenamecoder U're right, u're overcomplicating it ;) Remember, you can use this to check if all elements of an array pass your test ;) much cleaner https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Array/every Using a function callback to check your objects might lead you on the right path, as a side-effect ;)

@davidesamp --you are making the challenge far too complex ... you don't need to muck around with doing the .forEach, etc ...
IIRC -- this is JUST an html/css challenge ...
no need to muck about with js at all ...
ah ... my bad ... JSON & APIs ...
...but, I still think you are overthinking the problem ... you just need to take the sample code in the instructions and change the corresponding line ...
these are the instructions ...

When we're looping through these objects, let's use this imageLink property to display this image in an img element.

Here's the code that does this:

html += "<img src = '" + val.imageLink + "'>";

@zaheer442 Not using var will create a global variable in that case. It is intended here, for demonstration purposes.

@zaheer442 This lesson is there to show people what happens if they forget to put var in front of their variables. This can be intended, but most times it is not. Assigning to a non-declared variable creates a global one.

var declares a function-scope variable. Named parameters are somewhat function-scope, too. Whatever is not one of those is probably global.

Here's how you would rewrite and italicize the text of our heading:

$("h3").html("<i>jQuery Playground</i>");

jQuery also has a similar function called .text() that only alters text without adding tags.

Change the button with id target4 by italicizing its text.

@uchihaabhijit Use a jQuery selector to select #target4, and set it to a text similar to the example (just not "jQuery Playground", but "#target4", as this is the text on element with id "target4")
