Hi guys, I have a question about form in HTML. What does action="/submit-cat-photo" mean in form element?
Paul Brown
@paulbwd
Feb 27 2016 00:25
its where the page will go when its submitted @Nikki111
so in theory, there is a page called submit-cat-photo that would handle the forms data

Feb 27 2016 00:28
Sorry, I don't understand it. I should add "action=" when I create a form element? @paulbwd
Paul Brown
@paulbwd
Feb 27 2016 00:29
@JiayanLuo it makes an element the active class
usually to highlight something
like the title of a selected tab
yes @Nikki111
JiayanLuo
@JiayanLuo
Feb 27 2016 00:30
@paulbwd So would it be more noticeable than elements without it in some way?
Paul Brown
@paulbwd
Feb 27 2016 00:31
@JiayanLuo it would depend what active class had in its rules, but generally that is the idea

Paul Brown
@paulbwd
Feb 27 2016 00:32
then anything given the active class would stand out in bold type
@Nikki111 not really, it has to have the page name that you wish to send the data too, so what ever the instructions tell you it shoudl be is what you need to put in there

it's still like, 900x700
Paul Brown
@paulbwd
Feb 27 2016 00:49
to make it smaller, you need to put it in a smaller column width
Jacob Schumer
@jacobschumer
Feb 27 2016 00:50
It lets me reduce its size when using inline styling, and I deleted the img-responsive
I'm just wondering why using an ID to reduce its size doesn't work while inline styling does
Paul Brown
@paulbwd
Feb 27 2016 00:50
class="col-sm-6" for example would make a column half the size of the screen
Franco Zapata
@Francozt01
Feb 27 2016 00:51
at small screens like ipads
Paul Brown
@paulbwd
Feb 27 2016 00:51
col-sm-6 will work on any screen size bigger than sm too
unless you add a second column size such as md or lg
Franco Zapata

Feb 27 2016 00:52
but he has to add col-xs-12 to make it 1 column in mobile phones
Paul Brown

Tyler Moeller

Feb 27 2016 01:21
@JiniHendrix I don't think you need the callback param. My ajax call looks like:
  $.ajax({
    url: 'https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=opensearch&search=' + searchTerm,
    cache: true, // caching to be a good netizen - may get old results, but okay for this project

    }).done(function(result) { /* code here */ }

ok will try
oh wow that works great

@Legend28469 it's a scope issue - move $("#content").html(html); directly beneath where you set your html variable

hey guys i need help

With CSS, there are hundreds of CSS properties that you can use to change the way an element looks on your page.

When you entered <h2 style="color: red">CatPhotoApp</h2>, you were giving that individual h2 element an inline style.

That's one way to add style to an element, but a better way is by using CSS, which stands for Cascading Style Sheets.

At the top of your code, create a style element like this:

<style>
</style>
Inside that style element, you can create a CSS selector for all h2 elements. For example, if you wanted all h2 elements to be red, your style element would look like this:

<style>
h2 {color: red;}
</style>
Note that it's important to have both opening and closing curly braces ({ and }) around each element's style. You also need to make sure your element's style is between the opening and closing style tags. Finally, be sure to add the semicolon to the end of each of your element's styles.

Delete your h2 element's style attribute and instead create a CSS style element. Add the necessary CSS to turn all h2 elements blue.

you need to add a css selector for your paragraph. add one for p { font-size: 16px; }. What you did was add the font change to whatever has red-text
the "font-size" in .red-text {} should be in its own for p { font-size: 16px; }

hi guys. I am having a question regarding jquerys getJson. I guess this isnt working because it is asynchronous right? Can someone explain? ```function do_sth(i) {
$.getJSON("http://quotesondesign.com/wp-json/posts?filter[orderby]=rand&filter[posts_per_page]=42&callback=",
function(obj) {

  var snippet = "";

  var title = obj[i].title;
  var quote = obj[i].content;

  snippet += title + quote;

  $("#quoteBox").html(snippet);
});

};
```
$("#press").on("click", do_sth(Math.floor(Math.random()*10)));
@printingprinting You tell it nothing because, pop removes the LAST element and returns it to you, and shift removes the FIRST element and returns it to you
The array is "permanently" affected every time you use it.
If you want to access a specific element in the array then you use the name of the array followed by square brackets with the index number of it, for arrays it starts with 0 not 1
Eduardo Garcia
Feb 27 2016 04:53
@printingprinting No, you want to put your code after the comment, inside { and }
If this is the first time using functions, there is a little bit to learn about them before using them
You make a function and then you can "call" it like if it was a pet for example.
Jerry Batorski
@jarekb84
Feb 27 2016 05:22
@Rogers187 inside your if condition, you should pass in the checkProp parameter to hasOwnProperty
right now you're passing in the string "checkProp"
with your current setup, it's checking if myObj has a property named "checkProp", when you want it to check for "gift"
when you execute checkObj("gift"), the checkProp parameter in your function becomes the value "gift"
but that will only work if you pass the checkProp parameter to hasOwnProperty
The number beside your picture on Free Code Camp tells you how many Brownie Points you have.
A user profile picture next to a with Brownie Points score
There are three ways you can get Brownie Points:
  1. Complete challenges - you get one point per challenge you complete
  2. Post relevant links on Camper News - you get 1 point for posting a link, and another point for each upvote your link gets
  3. Help other campers in chat - each time you help another camper and they thank you (by typing "thanks @yourname"), you will get a point
thats the input field on the client side
the ssave and countinue function bundles everything up into a js object which is later stringified and sent as json
this is the code that should capture it on the server end:
var img = (data.body.photo).toString().replace(/(^data:image\/jpg;base64,)/,"");
console.log(img)
fs.writeFile(__dirname+'/customerImage.jpg',img,'base64', (err) => {
Feb 27 2016 06:09
@Rogers187 You can think of JSON objects as a really flexible array. The first quotes is the "key" followed by : and then by the "data" in another pair of quotes, and then a comma
myMusic is the array, you don't want to add any properties to it, you want to add another object to that array
Eduardo Garcia
Feb 27 2016 06:18
@Rogers187 If you look closely, myMusic is an actual array (find the [] ), just copy one of the objects (which are the ones that have {} ) and put it in the last slot of the array with your own custom data.
@JustinSteele02 that method fullpage() takes an object, correct syntax when writing an object means don't add semicolons
if you were using something like sublimetext, atom, vscode, or other text editor, it would probably have let you know of the error right away
In the challenge: Where art thou: What is to be compared from source to collection, is it the keys or values, as in the first collection, it seems the code is matching values, while in all other examples its matching keys.
code I have written so far is this:
` function where(collection, source) {
var arr = [];
var prop = Object.keys(source);
console.log(prop);
for(var i in collection) {
var cnt=0;
while (cnt < prop.length) {
  if(collection[i].hasOwnProperty(prop[cnt])) {
    //console.log(collection[i]);
    cnt++;
  } else { break; }
   }
//console.log(Object.keys(source));
}`
@JamesDimi @cannelflow I've been trying a few diffferent variations, but my code is:
<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
</style>
<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp
<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
</h2>
and I am getting 3/4 targets:
1.Your h2 element should be red.
2.Your h2 element should have the class red-text.
3.Your p element should be red.
4.Your p element should have the class red-text.
Remove the style attribute from your h2 element.
Create a style element.
Your h2 element should be blue.
Ensure that your stylesheet h2 declaration is valid with a semicolon and closing brace.
Make sure all your style elements are valid and have a closing tag.
the only one that is missing is make the element blue and it is
Can somebody help me, I'm stuck on this challenge and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. This is what it tells me to do: First, add a script element at the top of your page. Be sure to close it on the following line. Inside your script element, add this code: $(document).ready(function() { to your script. Then close it on the following line (still inside your script element) with: });
Randy
Your img element should have the class smaller-image.
Your image should be 100 pixels wide. Browser zoom should be at 100%.
David Suilea
@Foryah
Feb 27 2016 12:48
then you do <img class="smaller-image" src="src-here">
not sure if that class is already implemented to make the image small... if it's not, you need to add in the style, instead of the img the .smaller-image with the width:100px
I dont see the smaller-image class in your code above, so just create on by doing:
in the style block.
then, add that class to the image as mentioned by Foryah above.
Make Dead Links using the Hash Symbol
Sometimes you want to add a elements to your website before you know where they will link.
This is also handy when you're changing the behavior of a link using jQuery, which we'll learn about later.
Replace the value of your a element's href attribute with a #, also known as a hash symbol, to turn it into a dead link.
I don't understand this level...
