@marcschoeni Use a line of only ```html before and one of only ``` after your code for nicely formatted html (or use css, or js, whatever it is). Line breaks with Shift+Return, submit with Ctrl+Return. More information on FCC wiki

and this is my syntax
$(".well: nth-child(2)").addClass("bounce");

@rhysshadow have u first declared it like: var cleanArr = [];?
and you can't use array filter like this, it needs a function
function isBigEnough(value) {
  return value >= 10;
}
var filtered = [12, 5, 8, 130, 44].filter(isBigEnough);
// filtered is [12, 130, 44]

Anyone know how I would make an image larger than its natural height and width when the page loads, but keep it responsive? I have this section:

<div class="row">
    <div class="section col-xl-8 col-lg-8 col-md-8 col-sm-12 col-xs-12 col-xl-offset-2 col-lg-offset-2 col-md-offset-2" id="main">
        <img class="img-responsive" id="main-image" src="http://cdn.abclocal.go.com/content/kgo/images/cms/253483_1280x720.jpg">
    </div>
</div>

The image is 1280x720, but I would like it to display around 16000x900. But when I use transform: scale(1.25,1.25);, it is no longer responsive.

1600x900*

Hey everyone! I'm stuck in a JavaScript challenge called "Seek and Destroy". It should be a really simple algorithm and I have a really messy code that should work following its logic, but it is not and I cant understand why...
This is my code:
`function destroyer(arr) {
// Remove all the values

return arr.filter(function(elem){
var found = false;
for(var i=1; i<arguments.length;i++){
if(arguments[i] == elem){
found = true;
}
}
return !found;
});
}`

sorry for the formatting error haha
function destroyer(arr) {
// Remove all the values

return arr.filter(function(elem){
var found = false;
for(var i=1; i<arguments.length;i++){
if(arguments[i] == elem){
found = true;
}
}
return !found;
});
}
I should remove all the arguments passed that are equal to elements in the arr array

@devonwilson1 To style one-text with droid serif, copy the html link tag here: https://www.google.com/fonts#UsePlace:use/Collection:Droid+Serif
After you copy that, hit the settings button for html in codepen and paste it in where it says "Stuff for <head>"
Then, in your css put font-family: 'Droid Serif'; under .one-text (use the quotes)
@devonwilson1 third-text color seems to be working correctly

Heya, I'm trying to complete the git-it tutorial, and I keep running into a problem with "BRANCHES AREN'T JUST FOR BIRDS".

when I run git push origin add-mca62511 I get

fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/sedmonds/patchwork.git/': The requested URL returned error: 403

I googled the problem and say that someone suggest I update the origin url to https://github.com/sedmonds/patchwork.git

but doing that didn't help at all

The name of my branch is definitely add-mca62511

@swissricola you should change i < 5 to i < 6
the variable i will iterate up to the integer which is smaller than 5, which is 4, that's why 5 is not being included in the array

Can I check I understand Bootstrap's grid system?
If I give a class of col-md-4 to three elements in a row then on a medium sized device they will appear inline but on anything smaller they will be stacked
If I give two classes: col-md-4 and col-s-6 then on medium devices all 3 will be inline taking up a third of the width each, but on small devices two will be inline taking up half of the screen each and the third will be below, on an xs device they will all be stacked?

need help with lesson “using object for lookup” in java
how do you set “” to undefined?
Aleksander Gębicki
@Takumar
Mar 05 2016 08:06
@Francis-p assign undefined to your variable, var a = undefined;
If you really want to set such value to it.
Francis
@Francis-p
Mar 05 2016 08:07
@Takumar
val = {
alpha : "Adams",
bravo : "Boston",
charlie : "Chicago",
delta : "Denver",
echo : "Easy",
foxtrot : "Frank",
'' : undefined
};
Aleksander Gębicki
@Takumar
Mar 05 2016 08:08

@Francis-p your object should be called lookup.

var lookup = {};

don't overwrite your val parameter of function.

@Francis-p you have to use your val parameter to get good value from your lookup object and assign it to result variable.

Use the map function to add 3 to every value in the variable oldArray, and save the results into variable newArray. oldArray should not change.

Can I check I understand Bootstrap's grid system?
If I give a class of col-md-4 to three elements in a row then on a medium sized device they will appear inline but on anything smaller they will be stacked
If I give two classes: col-md-4 and col-sm-6 then on medium devices all 3 will be inline taking up a third of the width each, but on small devices two will be inline taking up half of the screen each and the third will be below, on an xs device they will all be stacked?

Is it a good ideea to modify bootstrap to my linking?
Liking *
Thomas Bartels
@tbartels
Mar 05 2016 16:27
Hmm, that's a somewhat loaded question, hehe. Depends on what you value and how you use it. If you don't care about being able to "upgrade" bootstrap when they release new versions, then modify away.
it would probably be pretty easy to argue that each release of Bootstrap is different enough that you may not bother, but generally speaking using a framework or library is intended to be extended rather than modified, meaning you don't touch the codebase, instead you build on top of it
okeeffeme
@okeeffeme
Mar 05 2016 16:28
@EduardCarmocanu You should be able to make some modifications using custom css files, if the changes you want to implement are only cosmetic. That way the base files won't break upon update
Thomas Bartels
@tbartels
Mar 05 2016 16:29
that way when the original author(s) release a new/updated/fixed version, you can just download it and swap it out for the old

@bbhavesh Seems to me you have to join all the words that are passed to you with a non-word separator, in your case "dog big ran quickly" (i am using * as non-word character)
Basically if your call the function like : wordBlanks("dog", "big", "ran", "quickly");
You should output:
"My big dog ran very quickly."
