Alright. I'm in the basic Javascript "Record Collection" and I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I am to a point where I'm completely guessing I'm right so far lol. This is what I have so far.
function update(id, prop, value) {
  for (id in collection) {
    if (value !== "" && prop !== "tracks") {

    }
    if (prop === "tracks" && value !== "") {
      tracks.push(value);
    }
    if (value === "") {
      delete id[prop];
    }
  }

  return collection;
}
It's not done, I understand, just seeing if I'm on the right track, even.

function lookUp(firstName, prop){
// Only change code below this line
for(var i = 0 ;i < contacts.length; i++){
  if(contacts[i].firstName === firstName){
    if(contacts[i][prop]){
      return contacts[i][prop];

  }
}

Anyone know of a timer that does not require that I pass in a function or other code?

setTimeout() and setInterval() both require that I pass in a function to run after the delay. I just want my app to delay when it gets to that line and then move along to the next line of code after it.

wiki Smallest Common Multiple
CamperBot
@camperbot
Mar 31 2016 03:23

:point_right: algorithm smallest common multiple [wiki]

Explanation:

The smallest common multiple between two numbers is the smallest number that
both numbers can divide into. This concept can be extended to more than two
numbers as well.

We can first start with just finding the smallest common multiple between two
numbers. Naively, you can start writing out multiple of each number until you
write a multiple that exists from both numbers.

An example would be the numbers 3 and 4. The multiples of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, ... and the multiples of 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, .... The
first smallest number we run into in both lists is 12 so this is the smallest
common multiple between 3 and 4.

This problem can be confusing because most people look for the smallest common
multiple of just the two numbers but forget the keyword range. However, this
means that if you are given [1,5], then you have to check for the smallest
common multiple for all the numbers [1,2,3,4,5] that is evenly divisible by
all of them.

:pencil: read more about algorithm smallest common multiple on the FCC Wiki

Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.
Only use jQuery to add these classes to the element.
@sroy8091 everything but the 4th one (Only add one class with each of your three selectors.) is Completed

:point_right: writing a markdown file using atom [wiki]

Writing a Markdown File for GitHub using Atom

Markdown is a way to style text on the web, and GitHub users make use of markdown to provide documentation for their repositories.

From GitHub guides:

You control the display of the document; formatting words as bold or italic, adding images, and creating lists are just a few of the things we can do with Markdown. Mostly, Markdown is just regular text with a few non-alphabetic characters thrown in, like # or *.

You can use Markdown most places around GitHub:

  • Gist
  • Comments in Issues and Pull Requests
  • Files with the .md or .markdown extension

Markdown files have the extension .md and you'll see that a vast number of GitHub repositories have README.md files.

A great example is that if you want to write a Wiki file for this repository, it'll need to be a .md file. What you're reading right now is a markdown file called writing-a-markdown-file-using-atom.md.

Markdown files are easy to write, and you can find a markdown cheat sheet here.

Nest each of your radio buttons inside its own div with the class col-xs-6.
but I can't get this to work

Mar 31 2016 06:07
@azeem259 make sure you are “wrapping” or “nesting”, meaning you are ending your div (the </div> part) AFTER the item you want wrapped or nested
It helps when you use formatting to see what it is doing
<div class="row">
   <div class="col-xs-6”>

  </div>
  <label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Indoor</label>

@coymeetsworld "sym([1, 2, 5], [2, 3, 5], [3, 4, 5]) should return [1, 4, 5]” I thought the symmetric difference was items that are in 1 but not both. So my understanding is that this test should return [1,4]
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Mar 31 2016 06:23
no the issue is that you have to do one symmetic difference at a time
so first you have [1,2,5] and [2,3,5], from there you get [1,3]
then you compare [1,3] to [1,4,5]
[1,2,5] and [2,3,5] are no longer used here
so the answer would be [3, 4, 5]
it works in a chain, look at the example

Hi, I've just started with code camp, now at the "build personal portfolio" assignment. In the previous work, we'd never learned how to force a banner near the top that is "usually" there, but sometimes fades away, as you can see here: http://codepen.io/hallaathrad/full/vNEPpL
Niko Salonen
@nikosalonen
Mar 31 2016 06:37
@kryvosheya that's because you set it to #intro id and the #intro has set height
Mike Williamson
@lazarillo
Mar 31 2016 06:37
However, the assignment seems to suggest that we should create such a banner. How can I do this? Is it possible with just bootstrap?

@jbemis your button don't have the id the jquery is binded to

also

  var apiUrl = 'https://api.forecast.io/forecast/' + apiKey + '/' + lat + ',' + lon,
    apiKey = '7528bb280880c0cf4d1e04401f0fa31d',
    lat,
    lon;

this is setting the variables to apiUrlbefore they have values.

update the apiUrlwhen lat and lon have values

This is my challenge... Commenting is a way that you can leave comments within your code without affecting the code itself.

Commenting is also a convenient way to make code inactive without having to delete it entirely.

You can start a comment with <!-- and end a comment with -->

Uncomment your h1, h2 and p elements.

Can someone help me out with the following jquery. I am stuck over here:

  1. Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
  2. Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.

$("button").addclass("animated");
$(".btn").addclass("shake");
$("#target1").addclass("btn-primary shake animated");

but no luck

Mar 31 2016 11:04

@Jaska94 also your array has two dimensions so you should access subarray with index i and element of that subarray with index j

product *= arr[i][j];

put it in internal loop instead of two assignments: product *= arr[j]; } product *= arr[i];

@kennymas var args = Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments); <-- this will create the args array
@kennymas then the array will look like this: [[2, 3, 2, 3], 2, 3]
@kennymas but since you already have access to [2,3,2,3] through arr you might want to remove the [2,3,2,3] array inside the args so you're left with [2,3]
Kenny Mas
@kennymas
Mar 31 2016 11:22
@alexanderkopke let me see if I can make that work
Alexander Køpke
@alexanderkopke
Mar 31 2016 11:24
@kennymas a good idea is to do console.log(args); to check the code or other kinds of code, press f12 to see what it looks like in console. It is a method to see what things contain which I think is very helpful. Has been so for me because it let's you see what is going on.
of course to see what is printed to console you need to run the code. Anyway I have to go to work. Good luck

:point_right: algorithm caesars cipher [wiki]

:triangular_flag_on_post: Remember to use Read-Search-Ask if you get stuck. Try to pair program. :busts_in_silhouette: Write your own code. :memo:

:checkered_flag: Problem Explanation:

  • You need to write a function, which will take string encoded with
    Caesar cipher as a parameter and decode it.
  • The one used here is ROT13 where the value of the letter is
    shifted by 13 places.
    e.g. 'A' ↔ 'N', 'T' ↔ 'G'.
  • You have to shift it back 13 positions, such that 'N' ↔ 'A'.

Hey! I'm testing c9.io because I'm in uni's Computer lab at the moment but when I've created a new Project and attempting to open it, I get "This page can't be displayed". Any idea if "blank" projects dont work? I'm creating it to do javascript testing.

I'm doing 2 Bachleror's degrees at the same time and the other one has a lots of marketing aspect so I need to attend classes other side of the town in "business department". This Place feels so tech impaired compared to our tech department...

@mejokuriachan you can’t have more than one element with the same id
@Jaska94 yeah it’s pretty common and annoying
@mejokuriachan also class, id, etc can only be one word
@mejokuriachan people normally use - between words
@mejokuriachan you should use class for elements you’d like to be grouped together
as in class=‘contact-us’
