This is not making any changes to the font size for that particular paragraph

hello
I uploaded an .htacess file to hide the file types of my web pages - All was dandy until I used one of my subdomains... get.mywebsite.com - I got a 404 page.
It works when I put get.mywebsite.com/index.php
This is what I have in my .htaccess file
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]

I'm working on the Inventory Update and I'm having some trouble with the result. For example, in the third case of the problem I need to get the following array:

[[88, "Bowling Ball"], [2, "Dirty Sock"], [3, "Hair Pin"], [3, "Half-Eaten Apple"], [5, "Microphone"], [7, "Toothpaste"]]

and I get it exactly:

[[88, "Bowling Ball"], [2, "Dirty Sock"], [3, "Hair Pin"], [3, "Half-Eaten Apple"], [5, "Microphone"], [7, "Toothpaste"]]

However, I still get an "X", saying that the result is wrong. Furthermore, by running my example on chrome javascript console and comparing the two arrays above I get false as an answer. What's going on? Help! :D

except, i stored my sentence in example... you want to store yours in the var you will return (DONT change it up top, reset it in between the do not change lines)
and use all four params, not just 2. "The " was an extra word i added. you can add a ton or none at all, up to you, just important to concatenate the params, and concatenate in the non-word characters...

:point_right: code formatting [wiki]

Multi line Code

```js ⇦ Type 3 backticks and then press [shift + enter ⏎] (type js or html or css)
<paste your code here>,
then press [shift + enter ⏎]
``` ⇦ Type 3 backticks, then press [enter ⏎]

Single line Code

This an inline `<paste code here>` code formatting with a single backtick(`) at start and end around the code.

See also: ☛ How to type Backticks | ☯ Compose Mode | ❄ Gitter Formatting Basics

:pencil: read more about code formatting on the FCC Wiki

rphares
@rphares
May 12 2016 04:41
@awalaja :point_up:
it takes most people a few tries-- three ` (the backtick is neat the escape key, usually)
then shift + enter at the same time
paste code in between the two rows of three `
and some people need to press command + enter to send
(if it doesn't work for you, you can just paste that one line, the sentence line, in entirely. You shouldn't have changed anything but that one line-- if you have, copying the sentence line and resetting the challenge would be best, i think :blush: though, formatting code is very useful as some people will ignore code that isn't formatted, especially if it is long)

wait
sorry, didn't see search box
lol
random worked in both
give me a second to look at it
it is receiving a result
you can verify that by going to network tab in inspector, clicking clear, and then searching
in the response to the call you'll see that results are being returned
in full version it's getting response in html
instead of json
so parsing it as json would fail

so now, you have two solutions, you switch codepen to http, or you switch your api call to https
Smai Rã

was that the way you would have done it, with the switch at the top and the if/else at the bottom?
Manuel Tancoigne
@mtancoigne
May 12 2016 06:41
which should be the better solution, if the the api server accepts it
@rphares by the way, why do we call them brownies, when they look like cookies ?
rphares
@rphares
May 12 2016 06:42
the if/else at the bottom, yes, absolutely-- the top can be switch or if/else, either is fine, and people generally argue passionately one way or the other, but... shrug @smairus
heh, the cookie is new, @mtancoigne

wait
@OMahonyD Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors
i got those right: Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
and those too: should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.
Only use jQuery to add these classes to the element.
Daniel O'Mahony
@OMahonyD
May 12 2016 09:00
@MalangeLevi So you need to add one class to button, one class to .btn and one class to #target within document ready.

I don't think giving the answers straight away is helpful @Esslamb. It's better to read through the steps and understand them. @MalangeLevi

Add the animated class to all elements with type button.
Add the shake class to all the buttons with class .btn.
Add the btn-primary class to the button with id #target1.

You can see that we've created a CSS class called blue-text within the <style> tag.

You can apply a class to an HTML element like this:

<h2 class="blue-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Note that in your CSS style element, classes should start with a period. In your HTML elements' class declarations, classes shouldn't start with a period.

Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.

Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'.

<style>
.red--text {color: red;}
}
</style>

<h2 class="red--text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

when you call the api you get a response value
that response is a json file, if you specified that to the call as a parameter(read wikipedia api docs for that)
if you look at an expample json wikipedia call you can select the values with the a .
i.e: response.article.name
that if article was a key in the json and the name was nested inside of the article

hope that helps

nice, so now select the pages key and iterate over it's contents and modifying your dom dynamically using the keys of each entry
@rudolfpablico notice how I store thw whole searcg object in the searchResult variable
@rudolfpablico and then I go to get my data iterating over its values : <search-result ng-repeat="page in searchResult.query.pages"></search-result>
for X in the pages key inside my result query
and then i use the rest of the keys for every object

And, do you guys know of any general chatrooms where one could hang out and keep an eye on what's buzzing in the web dev world? :)

@danintexas it's because the class img-responsive use width 100% you must add a width for your img , use this in your css
th .img-responsive{
  max-width:120px !important;
}
@jacobbogers put the script in script section not in html

there in an internal _init class in IScroll that is throwing an exception

why is there no room for help with plain CSS? I'm trying to figure out a CSS/JS way to add like 14 similar HTML elements to 6 identical <div>s
hmmm... but the CSS has to work on it even if it's in JS, because it's setting the size of them.
I tried to do the codecamp thing and it's just super dull but in a less convenient way than a plain reference guide.
I'm guessing if I want CSS to set the size of all 84 of these near-identical elements I'm going to have to manually have them all in my HTML?

god damn me. I wish I knew how to learn. I feel like there's 2 ways to learn: slog through every minute detail, trying to remember it all to use later; or search for specific things you want but know nothing about and then dissect and reverse-engineer them.
forestfriend

@NEETWizardJanus The latter is clearly the better way. :P Learn the generics then search up the specifics.

May 12 2016 13:29
tutorials try to trick you into doing the slog with pretend mini-objectives to utilize the immediate knowledge...

@NEETWizardJanus Anyway on your question I can imagine that you could append these elements(with classes to modify them) to your html using jQuery, but I doubt it would be more elegant than just Copy-Pasting it in.

damnit. why is everything so difficult. variables aren't working in CSS. I can't even put fill: @hexcolor; in. Tried it with and without the @, tried calc(@hexcolor); with and without @.

@guanyinmiao I asked the same question earlier. I am just going to do a circle. Just do something basic and you can expand on it later when you have things to put in your portfolio.

that is native css you can use scss files instead which I highly recommend as it gives you a lot more flexibility.

why is there such a huge gap in between the basics and some simple graphics I want to put out. I just want to draw some polygons in a scale relative to the browser window, laid out relative to each other, relative to their pairs, relative to a string of pairs, in different configurations. If this was C++ I'd have no problems. Throw in variables, draw using the variables. Here every little thing is like a huge issue.
