and yeah you cut off your Coin class code prematurely, that code looks all good and yeah you have a public accessor method (getSide()) to get the side so thats good
some logic i don't understand in your code though
 if (balance == PLAY_TO)
        {
            System.out.println("You win!");
        } else
        {
            System.out.println("You did not win.");

Tyler Moeller
@TylerMoeller
May 20 2016 00:56
@Danultimate If you're trying to show a radio button with the text "Indoor" next to it that is checked by default:
<input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor" checked /><label>Indoor</label>
Daniel Blanco
@Danultimate
May 20 2016 01:00
Why the checked is outside the label? @TylerMoeller
Tyler Moeller
@TylerMoeller
May 20 2016 01:01
@Danultimate The radio is the input, the label is the text for that input
This might be a bit technical, but it's a thorough explanation: https://www.w3.org/TR/html-markup/input.radio.html
So, we check the radio button (the input), not the text for that input (the label)

Got s general question, what is the best software to use to build a site using the skills we learn here?
Sammich
@YOURsammich
May 20 2016 02:09
For making sites its really just personal preference for what text editor to use
notepad++ is nice
Brendon
@Balvamar
May 20 2016 02:10
With text editor, I have to link to bootstrap, JavaScript, etc?
Is there a template to have them all available?
edwinfrancisd
@edwinfrancisd
May 20 2016 02:11
@josiahsprague It's enough to complete the challenges with mandatory mark for certification. U can check it in map... ;-)
Sammich
@YOURsammich
May 20 2016 02:11
Well for the code to work on your site you would need to link to it in your HTML
But you don't need to link to javascirpt
Its belt into the browser
So bootstrap yes, javascript no
Brendon
@Balvamar
May 20 2016 02:12
Jquery as well?
Sammich
@YOURsammich
May 20 2016 02:12
Yes
JavaScript HTML and CSS is belt into the browser
So you don't need to link to them in any sort of way
Brendon
@Balvamar
May 20 2016 02:14
So just need to create a html, Css, and js file, and I'm good to go?
Sammich
@YOURsammich
May 20 2016 02:14
Yeah but you can fix all of those in the html file if you wanted
JavaScript can be put between <script></script> tags
and css Can be between <style></style> tags

@joffenhauser your google font not working you're saying?
the code looks fine, I think
although hmm actually
try nesting the those links between head tags
or alternatively, on codepen import them under settings/CSS

May 20 2016 02:42
Ive been making the portfolio in sublime and for some reason now my <body> elements won’t connect any more...I just put my code into codeine so I could share it easier
any idea why the body tags might not connect? @coymeetsworld

how can i use dead links using hash symbol?
Joe O.
@joffenhauser
May 20 2016 02:43
like usually when you write on sublime it will show a little lock symbol for elements that are connected...for some reason the body elements don’t show as connected when my body code is between it
@coymeetsworld
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
May 20 2016 02:44
not sure what that means
but everything is nested between body tags it seems
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/main.css"> this you may need to remove
for codepen i would try importing those CSS files through settings
see if that helps
same with the javascript code
rphares
@rphares
May 20 2016 02:45
or use something like @import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Libre+Baskerville:400,700); in your CSS (yes, i have seen arguments both for and against... shrug ) @joffenhauser

have to get going ill be on later tonight but hope that works
if not maybe try a different font from google and see if it that's the issue

@joffenhauser
May 20 2016 02:46
have you ever used a text editor that auto completes tags? so when you start writing a <body> tag it will automatically pop out the </body> for you. Im saying for some reason my body elements don’t register as connected once I put my code between them and as a result I lose the ability to style the body over css @coymeetsworld
appreciate the help though thank you!

May 20 2016 05:11
Use a CSS Class to Style an Element
rphares
@rphares
May 20 2016 05:11
ok--
you need to make a class in the style section
<style>
.your-style {
color: someColor;
}
</style>
that style should be called red-text, and the color should be red
it follows the format i did above
then, you can use the original code you had below it,
<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>
<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
that goes UNDER the </style>
basically, you put h2 { where you needed .red-text { the first time

the radio buttons say type="radio"

good morning :) I think I have a CORS issue with connecting my Ionic app running local with my online API. I get this error:

XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://apimovingcircles-mols.rhcloud.com/api/auth/local/. No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. Origin 'http://localhost:3000' is therefore not allowed access. The response had HTTP status code 403.

I have tried to use npm cors and used this http://enable-cors.org/server_expressjs.html solution. But none is working.

Am I on the right track with it being a CORS issue or is it some other complex stuff going on in regarding to angular-fullstack?

So if you have your index.html at

D:\emeraldtea\test\FCC\challenge1\index.html

And your list.js is at

D:\emeraldtea\test\FCC\challenge1\js\list.js

Since index.html and js folder are siblings.

in your scr attribute of script

if you say ./ it means current directory - challenge1
if you say ../ it means parent directory of current directory - FCC
if you say ../../ it means parent directory of parent directory of current directory - test and so on.

is when you said ../js/list.js, it was looking for js folder immediately inside FCC folder. But js folder exists at FCC\challenge1 so that failed.

@96street : Yes you do.. however, the placement is wrong.

Every bootstrap page needs to follow certain structure.

Your container is inside your jumbotron. Which is not wrong in and of itself. However, the way you're using it is wrong.

The fist element (div) on the page must be of class container or container fluid.
Because, bootstrap will calculate rest of the things based on the width of initial container. :)

May 20 2016 08:36

@NixonRichard : Mr President, bootstrap supports only 12 columns.

Add up the numbers after col-xs-. There are total 3 divs with class col-xs-6 so that makes it total 18 columns.

One row should contain 12 columns. If the number of columns exceeds 12, then bootrap will wrap them around and the 3rd div will be on next row (visually, with added margin)

You can try using col-xs-4 instead of col-xs-6

@NatashaVanNiekerk While the nesting has its logic, I still don't understand why certain elements (like input, but also br, hr, and earlier even p, but that should have changed) don't have end tags. Historic reasons, I suppose. More to learn :P

Classes are reusable styles that can be added to HTML elements.

Here's an example CSS class declaration:

<style>
.blue-text {
color: blue;
}
</style>
You can see that we've created a CSS class called blue-text within the <style> tag.

You can apply a class to an HTML element like this:

<h2 class="blue-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Note that in your CSS style element, classes should start with a period. In your HTML elements' class declarations, classes shouldn't start with a period.

Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.

Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'

Darren Bellew
@DarrenBellew
May 20 2016 09:46
ad whats the problem?
the h2 element has blue text atm
change it to red

Sayeedul Islam Talukder
@SayeedulIslamTalukder
May 20 2016 09:46
Your h2 element should be red.
Your h2 element should have the class red-text.
Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.
Darren Bellew
@DarrenBellew
May 20 2016 09:46
the ".blue-text" is just a name

Hey guys, I'm having some problems in thumbnails. The arrangement and alignment is an issue in the 'Projects' section of my portfolio webpage. Also, I can't get the webpage to be properly scaled. http://codepen.io/AnInternetUser/full/zqVZBL/ Thanks

Darren Bellew
@DarrenBellew
May 20 2016 10:14
shouldn't use a pixel size, should use percentages.
since android phone screen sizes don't have a standard
its the exact same in app development. don't use absolutes
