<form><INPUT STUFF HERE></form> @Pavitter
@therealjohntan a # in front of a name in the <style> section denotes an ID
just like a . in front of a name in the <style> section meanest is a class

what does this mean Only add one class with each of your three selectors.
Use the $("button") selector.
Use the $(".btn") selector.
Use the $("#target1") selector.
those are my selectors

@XxShiftingRagexX , so for each of those,
you need to add the class it told you to--
for example, for the "button" one,
the directions say "Add the animated class to all elements with type button."
Devin Chase

May 26 2016 00:31
i did but it say i can only add one class to an selector but the #target1 class tells me to add 3 to it
rphares
@rphares
May 26 2016 00:31
the instruction for target1 was "Add the btn-primary class to the button with id #target1."
so only add the "btn-primary" class

Hello ,
I am stuck at this challenge ( Use Hex Code to Mix Colors )
  1. Give your h1 element with the text I am red! the color red.
  2. Use the hex code for the color red instead of the word red.
  3. Give your h1 element with the text I am green! the color green.
  4. Use the hex code for the color green instead of the word green.
  5. Give your h1 element with the text I am dodger blue! the color dodger blue.
  6. Use the hex code for the color dodger blue instead of the word dodgerblue.

@Jaggr , you are supposed to change all the colors to hex code,

in the <style> section, where it says

 .red-text {

  }

for example, look at the chart in the instructions-- what is the hex code for red? @Jaggr

hey, i have a question.
if i wanted to edit some stuff in an element, does it all go under the initial <style> ...</style>?
say if i had some stuff going already, like font size, font color, etc
if i wanted to give a pixel limit to a picture, would it go under the same style?
Matt Gillis
@mgillis912

@iamhenrylam it all goes under style, jsut make sure you specify where the style goes before the {}
Gizmo

Multi line Code

<paste your code here>,
then press [shift + enter ⏎]

``` ⇦ Type 3 backticks, then press [enter ⏎]
Single line Code
This an inline `<paste code here>` code formatting with a single backtick() at _start_ and _end_ around thecode`.
@LucidNightmare okay, I guess addClass() is made to work only on a selection, refer API documentation here: https://api.jquery.com/addclass/
"Description: Adds the specified class(es) to each element in the set of matched elements."
its a jquery function not a dom function
you can simply do storeVar[n].className +=" className" instead
try out if it works
Hi, I just started freecodecamp today and I'm stuck on using responsive design with bootstrap fluid containers.
Dylan
@dhcodes
May 26 2016 03:46
@pnicole96 what does the challenge say
or what is your code
you can paste it here between three backticks before and after `
three `
like this
nicolepepperoni
@pnicole96
May 26 2016 03:47
My div element should have class container-fluid.
Make sure div has closing tag
and make sure I have nested all html elements in .container-fluid
Dylan
@dhcodes
May 26 2016 03:48
@pnicole96 copy/paste what you have in your codebox so far
nested just means all the html elements will be between your opening and closing <div> tags
gitgenie
@gitgenie
May 26 2016 03:50
enclose your code block that you want to make responsive within and add the class like <div class="container-fluid">...your html block here..</div> @pnicole96
nicolepepperoni
@pnicole96
May 26 2016 03:50
Do I put in the links as well with in the div tags?
gitgenie
@gitgenie
May 26 2016 03:51
@pnicole96 example : <div class="container-fluid">
<h2 class="red-text text-center">CatPhotoApp</h2>
<p>Click here for <a href="#">cat photos</a>.</p>
<a href="#"><img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat"></a>
thanks @shusil123 that has worked but am I right in thinking that specifying the max-width would limit the scaling when viewing the webpage on different screens?? @ollyhub , here is the perfect css, you can give border-top-radius to the image and border-bottom-radius to the caption width of the caption container equal to 600 px:
cover-image {
border-width: 8px;
border-color: white;
border-style: solid;
border-top-radius: 5px;
height: 400px;
}
caption-text {
background-color: white;
max-width: 600px;
margin: 0 auto;
border-bottom-radius: 5px;
}
Hi all! I'm having some trouble with JQuery "Target the parent of an Element".
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#target1").css("color", "red");
$("#target1").parent().prop("disabled", true);
$("#target4").remove();
$("#target2").appendTo("#right-well");
$("#target5").clone().appendTo("#left-well");
$("#left-well").parent().css("background-color", "red");
});
</script>
I've got the bottom 3 instructions right, but not the top one "Your left-well element should have a red background. "
( I see a red background) but it's not correct. Does anyone see my mistake?
May 26 2016 10:06
Ok, so:
  1. inside your style elements you can choose what do you want to style, it could be for example a tags (p,h1,h2,h3, ul, li... and so on), classes (for example .class, theyre just a words with dots) or id (example: #my-id).
  2. Secodnly, you need to take the p parameeter and change it font to 16 px. You can do that by simply choosingthe desired element (in this case: p ) and set it property as font-size: 16px;
So, your code should look like this ;
p {font-size: 16px;}
Read the instructions provided by the authors
Do not add a class attribute to the second p element.
Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100
Hi, re: using Bootstrap with Fluid Containers - should the class .container-fluid be specified in the <style> section? Also - can all the HTML elements be nested in a single <div> </div>?
@pnicole96 it looks nice, but I think you can organize your css a bit more.
Instead of using the style attribute in the HTML, do all your CSS in the CSS file
@abdullhayesh you need to put a . before small-image class declaration in style
I have no idea what to do with this. I think I need to add something in the brackets in the style section, but idk what. Instructions were: To get started, we should nest all of our HTML in a div element with the class container-fluid. Your div element should have the class container-fluid.
Make sure each of your div elements has a closing tag.
Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid. This is what I have <div class="containter-fluid">
<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
Julian Montague
@roastchicken
May 26 2016 12:22
@pnicole96 you don't need IDs for each picture, instead you can give them all a class
then you can target them all by using just one CSS identifier
but yes, you should move the width to CSS as well
nicolepepperoni
@pnicole96
May 26 2016 12:24
But in order for me to make each icon look similar in size, they have to be different. How would I do that in css if they are all in one category?
@abdullhayesh Rather than adding <div class="containter-fluid"> in the start add them after </style>
@abdullhayesh and you don't need to add container-fluid class in <style></style> as it's taken care of by bootsrap.
@oppositive , what's the point of
stream = stream.replace('"','');
?
@kBashar glad I inspired you :smile:
I'm a bit new here as well, so I'm not sure about the guidelines
I know you can post code for others
Remove the quotes to use stream variable in the URL string later?
Julian Montague
@roastchicken
May 26 2016 12:33
@oppositive why do you think there are quotes? In your array you simply have "<stream name>"
Those quotes are not actually in the string, they simply let Javascript know that it is a string
:point_right: code formatting [wiki]
Multi line Code
```js ⇦ Type 3 backticks and then press [shift + enter ⏎] (type js or html or css)

<paste your code here>,
then press [shift + enter ⏎]

``` ⇦ Type 3 backticks, then press [enter ⏎]
Single line Code
This an inline `<paste code here>` code formatting with a single backtick() at _start_ and _end_ around thecode`.
Is the loop faster than the api reply?
I wanna loop through the channels in the array
Julian Montague
@roastchicken
May 26 2016 12:40
I think the API call is synchronous, meaning that the loop will wait for the API call to finish before continuing
Dennis Mul
@oppositive
May 26 2016 12:41
And then get the json back per channel
Julian Montague
@roastchicken
May 26 2016 12:41
So @oppositive , what output are you expecting on the HTML?
All of the channels and their JSON?
To make a list of channels and their status and so on
Just the ones in the array (10 or so)
Julian Montague
@roastchicken
May 26 2016 12:42
Okay, so you're confused as to why you only have the last channel in the HTML?
Dennis Mul
@oppositive
May 26 2016 12:42
Yes!
Julian Montague
@roastchicken
May 26 2016 12:42
That is because each time your loop code runs, you're setting the HTML to something else. That is, you're replacing the last channel's information with the next ones.
So in the end, you'll only have the most recent channel.
actually, nvm
