@espython - are you running this in a CodePen environment? Have you loaded the jQuery.js library in the external resources? That seems to be the only thing that could be missing. Or you haven't declared a <p> element with any text in it? Your code works in a jsfiddle.net project, with jquery loaded.

@Fenwil - Hello - I couldn't see that you got any answers to your question? It looks like you have a pretty good start on this, but a couple problems.
  • you have to be able to test all of the contacts for a match with the firstName argument before you can return No such contact.
  • you have to make sure that your contacts[i] matches with the first name before you can do the return of No such property.
  • recap - match the firstName before you can determine if the property exists on the contact. Look at all contacts before you determine that you have no match.

@Jjmaster2010 - I'm just going to look through the rendered version an comment but first -

  • CodePen - you should not have the <html>, <head> or <body> tags in there. CodePen has a template that they fill in for the various sections and you should have CSS stuff in the CSS external resources, no <!DOCTYPE html>, etc. It will generate invalid HTML output, which might eventually cause a problem.
  • some of the text in your top section is hard to read against the "skyscraper" background - not enough contrast (on a narrowed screen.)
  • This could be related to the first item - your ABOUT header on that section is coming through very small - doesn't look like a header at all.
  • in your first "About" item - "self-thought" should (probably) be "self-taught". "strving" is misspelled, and usually front-end and back-end are hyphenated. In the last section, "JavaScripts" should not be plural . "Bootstrap" should probably be capitalized.

I hope those are helpful comments? Nice start on it, and good luck!

ho is it guys ?

@thodges314 - one thing that you can try, it's quick but I did it with one page and it worked: right click in the frame where the HTML is rendered to a page, select "View Frame Source" (in Chrome) or the equivalent in some other browser. Copy the entire window (again, only the frame source for the rendered page. Paste that into a new file on your ISP, see if it works. It should render the same as it does on CodePen.
Let me know if it works - I'm curious!

@khaduch - It seems to be rendering - but the javascript isn't entirely working.
I've noticed additional information. I have reason to believe that the $(function(){}}; code is running on page load - otherwise one of the things on the page woul be a different color. It's not responding to my clicks though.
@khaduch - works well in codepen:

in that code, you put id="cat-photo-form" on half an h2...

however,
then you would just have <h2>.... an <h2> element would ave some text and a closing, </h2> ... i dont see those and think maybe you changed something else?

it might be good to reset the challenge,

@thodges314 - that's possible. There are also a lot of illegal HTML constructs in your code - if you take your frame source and paste it into the "Direct Text Input" on https://validator.w3.org and check it - you'll see a lot of things like <label for "wrkTmeFrm">poromodo time (minutes):</label> - the missing equal sign there. (There could be cascading errors resulting from some of these...)

rphares
@rphares
May 30 2016 02:04
and your <style> section was correct last time,
<style>
p {
color: green;
}
</style>

<p>Some Green Text!</p>
@Mainuli526
in that example, i made my p elements green, in the css
(in between the <style> tags)
then, in the html I wrote what actually goes in my <p> elements,
in this case, the words "Some Green Text!"
(which will be green, because of what i put in the style section)
You need to do the same-- tell the <style> section what color you want your h2 to be,
but include the h2 in your html :blush: @Mainuli526

For Use Responsive Design with Bootstrap Fluid Containers
How do i solve Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid.
rphares
@rphares
May 30 2016 02:11
so, you make a div with that class, @SidneyCMoore
and you open it right after </style>
and close it at the very end of all the html,
so that everything else is inside it :)
example using a div with the class of .big-div:

so im confused on how to Replace the value of your a element's href attribute with a #, also known as a hash symbol, to turn it into a dead link.

May 30 2016 02:13
@thodges314 - I did that clean up, as well, and I didn't realize the there was some other codepen kruft put into the frame source - so I stripped that out and uploaded the file again to my ISP - here is a URL - it seems to work now? Thomas Hodge pomodoro experimental - you can grab that back or see if you see any problems with it? I didn't do anything other than clean up those few errors, strip out codePen extraneous stuff (which actually seemed that it was loading the project from codepen, as well as putting the code there?)

May 30 2016 02:15
@khaduch WOW! What on earth? Can I do this with the javascript and CSS in separate files instead of all mashed into one? All I did with mine is copy the code into three separate files and add headers to my main file to access them.

@Mainuli526 , your <style> section was correct before,
Ken Haduch

May 30 2016 02:15

@thodges314 - yes, and it seemed that you were somehow declaring the config gear icon twice, but I didn't change that? I didn't want to try and figure it out, and after it started to work, then I didn't bother. Check out the version I posted above, and see if it's working, then you can compare it to yours? Oh, yeah, I happen to be running it on Chrome, if that makes any difference?

Yes, you should be able to do that, just make sure that you set up references properly and everything is getting loaded?

rphares
@rphares
May 30 2016 02:15
please dont change it-- you had
<style>
h2 {
color: blue;
}
</style>
that was correct,
the h2 element has to go after </style>
please look carefully--
</style> is at the END of the style section,
not the beginning,
please put your h2 element, <h2>CatPhotoApp</h2>
after </style>

but, it doesn't want you to make a class, @isaacrho
and, your <h2>and first <p> should have the class you gave them last lesson, "red-text"
i woud reset the lesson,
and then use an element to change the font size of both p elements,
you can write css for an element like this:
example:
<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
h3 {
font-size: ##px;
}
</style>
now, if i HAD any h3 elelemts, they would all be ##px,
but in your lesson, you should target p elements, and make them 16px

a = [1,2,3,4,5]
>>> b = [2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9]
>>> for i in b:
    if i not in a:
        a.append(i)

>>> print(a)
[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]

Note - this uses append, not extend

@rphares im on the "Use the css cclass to style an element" im so sorry but what do you mean by eplained format?
im new to this
you type three `
(the backtick is near the esc key on most keyboards, on the same key as the ~)
then press shift + enter at the same time
paste your code-- all of it-- from the lesson
then type three more `
(those ALSO must be on their own row. no ` on the same row as code :blush:)
finally, you may need to press command + enter or control + enter to send~

i personally dont usually care-- but as lessons have ore and more code, sometimes people will be frustrated if it isn't formatted-- some won't even help- so i like trying to help people get it right away,
if you hover to the right of a message, near the timestamp
there should be three dots-- click them and a dropdown will give you the option to 'quote'
when you do so, my message -- the one with the black box-- will pop up in your message window--
just replace my words with yours

Any help with this exercise?
Import the Lobster font.
Your h2 element should use the font Lobster.
Your p element should still use the font Monospace.
Here's my script:

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
Lobster {
font-family: <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
}
p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}
</style>

<h2 class="Lobster">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>
<p class="red-text">Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.</p>

close, but this link:
<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
goes at the very top, above the <style> section, @cajunsalmonbowl
for how to set the font-family, you did it correctly here:

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}
so, whatever element should have Lobster--(i think it is h2?)
write it like this, but with Lobster, not monospace ;)
font-family: Monospace;

Nest an Anchor Element within a Paragraph ?
Your p element should have the text "View more " (with a space after it).

link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}

.thick-green-border {
border-color: green;
border-width: 10px;
border-style: solid;
border-radius: 50%;
}

.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Click here for <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com" >cat photos</a></p>

<img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat">

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

@sannek
May 30 2016 07:33
@boyboi86 Your API call seems to work, but you're not doing anything with the data on 'success'. You'd have to do something like this:
// Previous bit of api call
success: function(data) {
    //Do stuff with the api data here
},
// Rest of api stuff
Leow Wei Xiang
@boyboi86
May 30 2016 07:35
I called player function
@sannek i called player function, but if i'm wrong kindly advise pls.
Sanne
@sannek
May 30 2016 07:35
But you're not passing any data into it, so it's not doing anything
Also, you need to do everything that depends on the data from the api call inside the success callback function. If you do it outside (like in your for each loop) that code will run before the api call finishes, and all your variables will be empty

Algorithm No Repeats Please

Problem Explanation:

This task requires us to look at each possible permutation of a string. This can be done using a recursion function, but it is not the only way. A common interview question is building a function which collects all permutations of a string. So there is no shortage of tutorials out there on how to do this, in many different code languages.

:pencil: read more about algorithm no repeats please on the FCC Wiki

In the HTML5 and CSS section of FreeCodeCamp we built a Cat Photo App. Now let's go back to it. This time, we'll style it using the popular Bootstrap responsive CSS framework.

Bootstrap will figure out how wide your screen is and respond by resizing your HTML elements - hence the name Responsive Design.

With responsive design, there is no need to design a mobile version of your website. It will look good on devices with screens of any width.

You can add Bootstrap to any app just by including it by adding the following code to the top of your HTML:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>

In this case, we've already added it for you to this page behind the scenes.

To get started, we should nest all of our HTML in a div element with the class container-fluid.

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

can anyone help me with this

Algorithm No Repeats Please

Problem Explanation:

This task requires us to look at each possible permutation of a string. This can be done using a recursion function, but it is not the only way. A common interview question is building a function which collects all permutations of a string. So there is no shortage of tutorials out there on how to do this, in many different code languages.

@Ozelitotiktak like for your github account

<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-2">
              <a href="https://github.com/Ozelitotiktak" target="_blank">
                <div id="social-git gap"></div>
</a>

I think maybe give some padding between the elements,If you will provide the codepen link everyone will be able tohelp you better
