So I have a problem running this code: <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

.smaller-image {

width: 100px;

Question on "Target a Specific Child of an Element Using jQuery". I have

$(document).ready(function() {

But the well elements themselves are bouncing, not their children. Any ideas?

The comment tags (<!--) and (-->) don't render in the code....
In other words, they are there so that you can make notes in your code (like sticky notes) that you or other programmers can read but don't affect the code...
Your problem is asking you to delete the comment tags

@Red-Hotter Hi, what is your task that you need to do for this challenge?
Red-Hotter

Jun 10 2016 01:47

@dylan-snyder
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

@123xylem first you want to sort the array that is parsed from the argument arr and use the JS function sort args = arr.sort(); lose the for loop and assign args[0] to var i and args[1] to var j which will allow you to write a better while.

Can someone please help me figure out why my links aren't working with this twitch JSON codepen? If you copy the link address and paste it into the browser it works fine but clicking on the link from codepen takes the user to a twitch page that never fully loads, only the online users are linked so you need to scroll down a bit, thanks for any help. http://codepen.io/Ryanwfile/pen/jrWaEr

then, you apply the class to the element(or elements) you want to change,

@DougSoung take a look at the example on the left
it shows you how to create a similar class, you will need to mimic that but change it a bit

Is there a way to get say a .col-md-4 css block to display it's content differently than .col-sm-12 if an element has both classes applied to it? Like I want the same content to be positioned differently when it's on a wide screen and on a phone

no worries, @maniacalkitten ~your code really looks fine, though, so
next- the glitch trick,
you pasted your code above, copy it,
refresh the page,
and PASTE your own code into the editor,
(make sure you completely cover over everything)
the run tests again, @maniacalkitten ~
(it sometimes gets glitchy, but pasting into it usually (only once did it not) fixes that~)

you can use margin: auto; to center a block element

don't think you need to give an image a width to do the same, but I nested my image inside a div and centered the div

anyone help me understand why this function will filter an array for unique values:
arr.filter ( function ( element, index, self){
     return self.indexOf(element) == index;
});
I think it's because the indexOf() function will only ever return the first index of a value, even if there is multiple
so if there is an array [1,1,1]
on the second and third tests, it will be self.IndexOf(1) == 1 and self.IndexOf(1) == 2 which would resolve to 0 == 1 and 0 == 2 , both false, which is obviously false , false

Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors
Shusil Banjade
@shusil123
Jun 10 2016 09:11
@satish2485 , you have to target the same element in the html with multiple selectors like .btn, .btn-primary, .#target1, I guess
Post the code in format, whole code with html included
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 10 2016 09:12
@satish2485 you must add one class per selector, so you need to fix #target1

it needs to consider wherever the user is at to determine their local weather
file:// references local files on your computer
you need to have it available online
Ishtmeet Singh
@IshtmeetSingh
Jun 10 2016 09:23
@coymeetsworld yes, it needs to be either http;// or https://
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 10 2016 09:23
if you use openweatherapp you'll only have http available with free account
not sure about other apis
Ishtmeet Singh
@IshtmeetSingh
Jun 10 2016 09:24
so, if someone decides to work on his personal code editor, and he want's to get geolocation data, how will he able to get that? I've even tried localhost, but that didn't work either.
so you have to work on codepen/jsfiddle for stuff like that?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 10 2016 09:25
or have it hosted in some way
you need to submit a url to the project right? not just the code
also to get geolocation data you can use another api, like the one I posted above
use that to get your locations and put that into your weather api call
so you would be making 2 api calls instead of 1

  1. Your a element should be nested within your new p element.
  2. Your p element should have the text "View more " (with a space after it).

Find it in Activity Monitor and kill it or killall app_name from the Terminal, where "app_name" is whatever you saved the executable as.

killall chrome

I need help with the "Counting Cards" challenge. I'm trying to do it like this:
function cc(card) {
// Only change code below this line

var result = "";

switch (card)
{
case 2:
case 3:
case 4:
case 5:
case 6:
count = 5;
result = String(count) + " " + "Bet";
return result;
case 7:
case 8:
case 9:
count = 0;
result = String(count) + " " + "Hold";
return result;
}

return "Change Me";
}
But the console window on the left hand side still keeps saying there's a syntax and none of the list below are getting checked out either. What am I doing wrong? How do I make this work, and what do I when there's more than one of a number in a card sequence?

I used a different one. I used the Weather Underground API. Would it be easier to switch do you think?

Hey guys just starting down the road in the coding world but im working with jQuery selectors and typed the exact thing in myself and then pasted it and its still not working and i was wondering if anyone could just spot the problem that I'm having. thanks in advance. Here is my code: <script>
$(document).ready(function($("button").addClass("animated bounce");) {

});
</script>

@Cameron-Burkholder Nah it's okay you should stick to it. Wait, let me see, but I found open weather api was much easier to get things done quickly.
@xzombx Your code is messed up. Wrong parentheses and curly brackets.
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("button").addClass("animated bounce");
});
</script>
@xzombx Do it like this, you have to leave function's parentheses empty

oh ok thank you. i was confused because it said to add it in the document ready function. thank you!

@IshtmeetSingh Well I havent' done much with it. This is my first time working with API's so I am right now just trying to call it and print it out so that I can see what is inside the call. But I don't know if I'm calling it right. If it is easier to switch to OpenWeatherMap, that might be better for an API noobie like myself.

ok here is wht i hv came up with :
// Setup
function abTest(a, b) {
// Only change code below this line
if (a < 0 || b < 0){
return a || b;
}

// Only change code above this line

return Math.round(Math.pow(Math.sqrt(a) + Math.sqrt(b), 2));
}

// Change values below to test your code
abTest(2,2);

@Cameron-Burkholder Hey, if you want to understand all concepts about API's, I would suggest to watch these youtube series, he has done almost all front end projects with tutorials. He has very nice tutorials. Check his videos, they are great.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLK28VPJvCE

@Iadetunji You shouldn't return

return a||b;

return undefined;instead.

@Iadetunji They've asked you to return undefined
Cameron Burkholder
@Cameron-Burkholder
Jun 10 2016 14:30

@Iadetunji Your if statement is set up correctly, however your return value is not quite what the exercise is asking for. You should reread the instructions closer because it tells you exactly what you need to return in the if statement.

@IshtmeetSingh Thanks, I will check those out.

@Alecg956 No problems It's like You have a div with class parent.

<div class="parent">
    <div class="child-1"></div>
   <div class="child-2"></div>
</div>

and the 1st div inside it is it's first child, and second is 2nd child. Hope you get it now.

Just spent over an hour figuring out a weird issue with Codepen. If you go to a pen with a link that uses http://, then navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition() won’t work, but with https:// it works. Can someone help me explain what’s the reason behind that? Or where can I post this info so other people don’t get stuck in the same way?
