@killjoy82 the point is pink-text and blue-text have the same specificity, but blue-text was written second, so it takes precedence

storbeck
@storbeck
Jun 16 2016 00:40
@Noremak set the background color on .unit_row not on .individual_unit
setting it on .individual_unit gives it a higher specificity so it won't change

Quick question. In jQuery when I do addClass how do I know where it's being added from? For example, if I do .addClass("animated shake") it should use the animate.css. In the next example I have to do .addClass("btn-primary") and that uses Bootstrap I'm assuming. But how can I know?

how do you determine whether to use 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 12 in your col?
Ghost
@ghost~56a80c91e610378809be5d28
Jun 16 2016 01:49
@mrburks Each row shouldn't add up to more than 12
@mrburks The number determines what % of the page that col gets for example two cols with 6 take up 50/50 and they add up to 12 so it all works out :+1:
Mercifex
@Mercifex
Jun 16 2016 01:50
@evan153 adding that bit of code seems to push it to the right a bit but not center it. Tried it in 2 diff div tags. Should I create a sep div tag for it or am I just putting it in the wrong one?
Ghost
@ghost~56a80c91e610378809be5d28
Jun 16 2016 01:50
a col with 12 takes up the entire page and you can't add anymore because its 12
Mercifex
@Mercifex

do I need to add a div that specifies it to be only like 8 or something?
so shortens plus centers the box?

@ohsojoyful remove that first h2 tag
you should only have one opening h2 tag, and one closing, also to set a style you need to use an equals operator
look at the examples a little more carefully

MrBurks
@mrburks
Jun 16 2016 02:13
@justincoder01 the way to do it is go to fonts.google.com. you should be able to search for it. then when you select it. google will give you the link for it. paste it in the <head></head> section of your page. and it's done
there will be a link called "use" that will give you the linking code for it

Good evening, Campers. The following anchor tag + its CSS works like I want it to -- except when you click the link. The clicked link is a muddy color... I would like it to just stay white until another link is clicked. Is there some sort of on-click or after-clicktype of CSS to control that color? Thanks in advance. :)

Hey @jasperkolp, a css class is what you use to define a set of style rules that you can apply to multiple elements
MrBurks
@mrburks
Jun 16 2016 03:11
there are 3 ways to code CSS. there is inline, (inside html tags) in file (inside the style tag), and on a separate CSS stylesheet to be called by the html file using the Linkage code for that stylesheet.
i would recommend for those just learning html and CSS to do either inline or in file CSS to start....especially if it's not a lot of CSS to do

Hi all. I have a Boostrap question. Why do the boostrap lessons apply col styles only to divs? As far as I can tell they work when applied directly to screen element tags also. E.g. <div class=“row”><h2 class=“col-xs-8…. instead of <div class=“row”><div class=“col-xs-8”><h2….. Thoughts?

Challenge Give a Background Color to a Div Element

You can set an element's background color with the background-color attribute.

For example, if you wanted an element's background color to be green, you'd use .green-background { background-color: green; } within your style element.

just pass a callback function to setLocation.,

help symmetric difference
CamperBot
@camperbot
Jun 16 2016 05:06

:point_right: algorithm symmetric difference [wiki]

Algorithm Symmetric Difference

Problem Explanation:

Symmetric Difference is the difference between two sets.

So in the Symmetric Difference Algorithm you would work through the arrays of numbers something like this -

sym(A, B, C) Translates to sym(sym(A,B),C)

Or in plain English - First find the Symmetric Difference of Set A and Set B. Then find the Symmetric Difference of this new set and Set C.

So -

sym([1, 2, 5], [2, 3, 5], [3, 4, 5])

would equal

[1,4,5]

@jigargosar I have read and used and commented on the correct answer of asymmetric difference
And I still dont understand a few things
function sym(args) {

  var argz = Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments);
//make array ofargs

  var getDiff = function(arr1, arr2) {

//Creates function that Returns items in arr1 != arr2
    function filterFunction(arr1, arr2) {
      return arr1.filter(function(item) {
        return arr2.indexOf(item) === -1;
      });
    }
//Now it uses that filterFunction on both arrays and joins them
return filterFunction(arr1,arr2).concat(filterFunction(arr2,arr1));
    };

//Here we actually START the function on argz. we reduce argz with getDiff function and an empty array.
 var symArray= argz.reduce(getDiff,[]);

  //So far it only works for 2 args so
  //here we filter the array returning the index of a num in array
 //if its the first instance of this. index=== num in arr means first instance of num in arr return that index
  var answer=symArray.filter(function(num,index,arr){
    return index===arr.indexOf(num);
  });

  return answer;

}

sym([1, 2, 3], [5, 2, 1, 4]);

@thinsoldier the error is that after client validation the server side validation method in the script which is setValue here is not firing
this is not using api
api is in the documentation of semantic-ui.. it has been documented extensively
and appears to be very powerful and exactly what I want
but I could not make it work
so I scavenged the net and then in the semantic forum I found this way of doing it suggested by Jack Lukic the creator of Semantic-ui

not sure if there is a best practice or not but you could use either dot or bracket since you know the properties ahead of time
you wouldn't be able to use dot notation if you were using variables but for this zipline you don't have those, you know exactly what you need
I used dot notation in my solution but I don't think it matters as long as it works

@123xylem hey, I have reduced code and added lots of comments. If you get time, please check it and let me know. Also start reading from the function symmetricDifference. That is the core logic, rest are just helper methods.
@123xylem
// takes a number and and array
// returns true if array contains the number
function hasNumber(num, arr){
  return arr.indexOf(num) !== -1;
}

// takes two arrays with possible duplicate elements
// returns an array with duplicates removed,
// i.e remove numbers that are present in both array.
function removeDuplicates(arr1, arr2){
  // create a new array with elements from both array,
  // note: this new array might have duplicates
  var allNumbers = arr1.concat(arr2);

  var uniqueNumbers = [];

  allNumbers.forEach(function(num){
    // do nothing if uniqueNumbers contains num, else add it.
    if(hasNumber(num, uniqueNumbers))
      return;
    else
      uniqueNumbers.push(num);
  });
  return uniqueNumbers;
}

// takes two array
// returns an array with only those elements which are present in both arrays
function findDuplicates(arr1, arr2){
  return arr1.filter(function(num){
    return containsNumber(num, arr2);
  });
}

// takes two array
// returns the first array without the elements from second array.
function arrayDiff(arr1, arr2){
  return arr1.filter(function(num){
    return !containsNumber(num, arr2);
  });
}

// takes two array
// return an array with numbers that are in either of arrays,
// but not in both
function symmetricDifference(arr1, arr2){
  var uniqueArr = removeDuplicates(arr1, arr2);
  var duplicateArr = findDuplicates(arr1, arr2);
  return arrayDiff(uniqueArr, duplicateArr);
}

function sym() {
   var arr = Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments);
  return arr.reduce(symmetricDifference);
}

"Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px)." this is the question

add classes to each so u can work on them individually in your css
like
<div class="facebook">
then in the css, .facebook{}
