How Make the second child in each of your well elements bounce. You must target the children of element with the target class.

I made that but now response
$(".well:nth-child(2)").addClass("target");

iccomq

Jun 19 2016 01:03 UTC
but, well everything would be really organized, thats my last resort

$(".well:nth-child(2)") already selects targets, to be exact second target in each well

Amilyn
@amilynamanilla
Jun 19 2016 03:07 UTC
@SidneyCMoore you can target by element, by class, and by ID.. so I am guessing that the instruction is telling you to create a class within an element, and target it using jQuery?
latifawudu
@latifawudu

My challenge is target the parent of an element using jQuery
I am kind of stuck
Anthony Northrup
@NorthrupAnthony
Jun 19 2016 03:08 UTC
Oh....
First of all, the parent method doesn't take an argument.
child.parent() => parent of child
So just say something like $("#my-target").parent().doSomething()
@latifawudu Just take that and fill in the blanks...
Sid.

Jun 19 2016 03:12 UTC
@latifawudu Okay, first, you want to select the parent. Start by selecting the child: $("#target5")
latifawudu
@latifawudu
Jun 19 2016 03:12 UTC
OK, OK, ok
Anthony Northrup
@NorthrupAnthony
Jun 19 2016 03:12 UTC
@latifawudu Next, you want to get the parent of that element. This is easy by using the .parent() method.

Why is a negative margin flush with the edge of the screen instead of 0?
Amilyn
@amilynamanilla
Jun 19 2016 03:13 UTC

@SidneyCMoore ok if i got this right, you put your class into the element, example

<div class="thisIsWhatYouCreate">
then up in your jQuery, you target it using $(".thisIsWhatYouCreate").yourAction()

Anthony Northrup
@NorthrupAnthony
Jun 19 2016 03:13 UTC

Quick QUESTION: Why is my push chgArr causing a infi loop at the bottom under the else???
function checkCashRegister(price, cash, cid) {
var val;
  var cost=arguments[0];
  var money=arguments[1];
var till= arguments[2];
  var count=0;
  var arr=[];
  var change= money-cost;

  if(change<0){
  change=Math.abs(change);}//this makes change positive if its negative value
else change=change;

  for(i=0; i<till.length;i++){
   count+=till[i][1];}
    if(change>count){
    return "Insufficient Funds";
// Make a count that totals till values. If change is more than till then say so

  }  else{
  var chgCount=0;
    var chgArr=[];
  for(j=till.length-1;j>0;j--){ //go through till from highest to lowest
    while(change>chgCount){//while change is more than 0

      chgCount+=till[j][1]; //add number to change from till
      chgArr.push(till[j][0]);//put that in an array THIS IS CAUSING A INFI LOOP FOR SOME REASON HOW DO I CHANGE THAT!?
      change-=till[j][1];//Take that number off change.
    }
  }return chgArr;

}
}

checkCashRegister(2.50, 20.00, [["PENNY", 1.01], ["NICKEL", 2.05], ["DIME", 3.10], ["QUARTER", 4.25], ["ONE", 90.00], ["FIVE", 55.00], ["TEN", 20.00], ["TWENTY", 60.00], ["ONE HUNDRED", 100.00]]);
Anthony Northrup
@NorthrupAnthony
Jun 19 2016 04:01 UTC
@123xylem I think it's actually the change -= that's causing the loop. Your while loop condition is based on the change being above something
Chris Cullen
@123xylem
Jun 19 2016 04:01 UTC
right
But change is defined as a number that goes down on each iteration
@NorthrupAnthony And chgCount should go up on each iteration
Anthony Northrup
@NorthrupAnthony
Jun 19 2016 04:02 UTC
Is the till value actually positive though?
If the till value is negative you have a problem...
Or if it's zero, it won't ever change...
Chris Cullen
@123xylem
Jun 19 2016 04:02 UTC
Till is that array at the bottom
@NorthrupAnthony its the 1 value in each array
so in this example its always positive

@123xylem True, but when they go to test out your code to see if it works don't they have multiple test cases?
@123xylem Yup, one of there test cases has a zero in there.
@123xylem You need to handle the zero's

gotya
Anthony Northrup
@NorthrupAnthony
Jun 19 2016 04:12 UTC
@123xylem More like, since the value isn't positive the two values will never meet... You'll always be doing += 0 which doesn't do anything...
@Adonis19 Ohhhhh. That I'm not sure if it's a thing or not... I wish it was a feature to keep track of how long a section took.
@Adonis19 Could be something to recommend to them ? :D

@NorthrupAnthony well it say it there in html5 and css, that it should take about 5 hrs. if you check it you see it, i think. but anyways i just concernd that i was doing bad by wasting my listening to music and doing othere thing while doing this
Anthony Northrup
@NorthrupAnthony
Jun 19 2016 04:18 UTC
@Adonis19 I meant how long a section took you. Like keeping track of how long you did the section in.

Good evening, Campers. Struggling to add padding ahead of a Bootstrap .well class. I have padding on my 'Portfolio' and 'About' links that works fine. This padding adds space between menu structure at top of page and the content.

When I use a .well class for the 'Contact' link, I can't get it to add the spacing. Here's my CodePen: http://codepen.io/andreas2249/pen/PzGNZm/

I'm trying to get it to look like this when the 'Contact' menu item is clicked: https://s32.postimg.org/4ei4h1k9x/space.png
Any thoughts, please?
(I'm thinking the issue is related to not correctly overriding Bootstrap's.wellclass. Thanks in advance. :)
it should give an empty array, but it still includes null

Im trying to convert the array into usable chuhnks that a count can accumulate with. EXAMPLE: in ["TEN", 20.00] there are 2 10s = 20.00... I need the array to say 10,10 so that count can use the values .

@dcgoings its easy to just create an array full of quotes and use a for-in loop to get the quotes.

Apply the blue-text class to your h1 element in addition to your pink-text class, and let's see which one wins.

Applying multiple class attributes to a HTML element is done with a space between them like this:

class="class1 class2"

Note: It doesn't matter which order the classes are listed in the HTML element.

However, the order of the class declarations in the <style> section are what is important. The second declaration will always take precedence over the first. Because .blue-text is declared second, it overrides the attributes of .pink-text

code:--

<style>
body {
background-color: black;
font-family: Monospace;
color: green;
}
.pink-text {
color: pink;
}
.blue-text{
color: blue;
}
</style>

<h1 class="blue-text pink-text">Hello World!</h1>

https://codepen.io/TheCodyKnight/pen/rLerZp?editors=1010 can anyone tell me why I'm not recieving the (raw) json data from the twitter api into the message element? if i use .html("123test") the data is correctly inserted into the message element...
@TheCodyKnight you recieve an error...
@TheCodyKnight so the mistake is when calling the API. are you sure you don't have to send data along?

i actually don't know. but i already tried a different API, from openweather.org. complete with correct key. and it didn't work. i just want to get ANY api to work, because so far I couldn't :'(
can you provide me with an API you know is working for you, so I can test it with my function? that would help me a ton
i'm so frustrated right now

Carlos Ortega
@zorudeam
Jun 19 2016 08:24 UTC
You need 2 p elements with Kitty Ipsum text.
Make sure each of your p elements has a closing tag.
Your p element should contain the first few words of the provided additional kitty ipsum text.
Do not add a class attribute to the second p element.
Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.
