Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld

thats what it means when the input tag is "nested" between the form tags, just for future reference @lil0homie1

Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:02
you could use nested for loops @EntopricInformation
first loop would iterate through words, 2nd loop would iterate through characters
theres better ways depending on what you need to do but thats most simple i would ssay
Tommy Izen
@TommyIzen
Jun 25 2016 00:03
Now I'm on replicating something like this: https://codepen.io/FreeCodeCamp/full/YqLyXB/
I could easily write my own css inside of the container and row-fluid
but I'm trying to learn bootstrap and not use custom css
but can't seem to do anything but stack elements right now with bootstrap
Jason Paulino
@EntopricInformation

what do you have and what are you trying to do @EntopricInformation ?
Jason Paulino
@EntopricInformation
Jun 25 2016 00:08
convert a string to the start case
(first letter capped)
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:08
then you only need one for loop for that since you're not searching for anything, you know you're only modifying first character
darqdevil
@darqdevil
Jun 25 2016 00:11
why it doesnt accept :/
Jason Paulino
@EntopricInformation
Jun 25 2016 00:12
no it is a string with multiple words separated by spaces
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:12
you can only specify an attribute once per tag @darqdevil
Tommy Izen
@TommyIzen
Jun 25 2016 00:12
awesome

@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:12

@TommyIzen
Jun 25 2016 00:12
good times good times
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:12
i.e. class="class1 class2"
yes @EntopricInformation, you still only need one for loop for that
darqdevil
@darqdevil
Jun 25 2016 00:13
<h1 class="blue-text" class="pink-text">Hello World!</h1>
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:13
turn that string into an array of words, modify the words (i.e. uppercase the first letter, downcase rest) and join them back together
darqdevil
@darqdevil
Jun 25 2016 00:14
its true
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:14
@darqdevil yeah you can only define class once
darqdevil
@darqdevil
Jun 25 2016 00:14
but
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Jun 25 2016 00:14
im not sure exactly what happens but i think class just gets overwritten so instead of blue-text you just have pink-text, but you want both

need some help
How do you make like a container in the middle of the page that is away from the margin
Jason Paulino
@EntopricInformation
Jun 25 2016 00:33
function titleCase(str) {
  var string = str.split(' ');
  console.log(string);
  for (i = 0;i < string.length; i++) {
      string[i].substring(0, 0).toUpperCase();
      }
      var join = string.join(' ');
      return join;
}

titleCase("I'm a little tea pot");
so that does not return a capitalized output for the first letter of each word in the string
any idea why not?
also when I do string[i][0].toUpperCase(); I get an error

Jun 25 2016 00:47

Yes. Commenting is a way that you can leave comments within your code without affecting the code itself.

Commenting is also a convenient way to make code inactive without having to delete it entirely.

You can start a comment with <!-- and end a comment with -->

Uncomment your h1, h2 and p elements.

That is the lesson..?

<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>

<div class="container-fluid"><div class="row"></div></div>

with the directions:Now we'll create a Bootstrap row for our inline elements.

Create a div element below the h3 tag, with a class of row.

how is that wrong?
Add a div element below your h3 element.
Your div element should have the class row
Your row div should be nested inside the container-fluid div
Make sure your div element has a closing tag.
has an x next to add a div element below the h3 element

Hi,
Hi, I need help with Return Early Pattern for Functions

// Setup

// Only change code below this line

if (a < 0 || b < 0); {
return undefined;
}

// Only change code above this line

return Math.round(Math.pow(Math.sqrt(a) + Math.sqrt(b), 2));
}

// Change values below to test your code

Carlos Zavaleta
@nerdyamigo
Jun 25 2016 04:13
@Catherinesjkim there shoule be a else statement after your if
else

}
Manish Giri

@cyberamigo lol, it’s okay! If you look at the challenge, the objective is to return early if a or b is less than 0, if it is valid input, then the code will skip the if block completely and continue execution as normal, so you don’t need an else per se

@eacuna94 what is the challenge asking you to do
Edgar Acuna
@eacuna94
Jun 25 2016 05:29

Font size is controlled by the font-size CSS property, like this:

h1 {
font-size: 30px;
}
Create a second p element after the existing p element with the following kitty ipsum text: Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.

Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

Also, please do not add a class attribute to your new p element.

I'm almost done, I just have to assign red text to the first p element

Joel Choi

Jun 25 2016 06:04
Declare a local variable myVar inside myLocalScope. Run the tests and then follow the instructions commented out in the editor.
which i did
and i followed the comments and deleted the console log line outside the function
Ishtmeet Singh
@IshtmeetSingh
Jun 25 2016 06:04
@joewhale don't assign myVar to anything, do it just like
function myLocalScope() {
var myVar;
console.log(myVar);
}
myLocalScope();
Joel Choi
@joewhale
Jun 25 2016 06:05
i tried that. it still tells me 'no global myVar variable
Ishtmeet Singh
@IshtmeetSingh
Jun 25 2016 06:06
@joewhale you have to declare a global variable, you're declaring a local variable, try declaring it before the function myLocalSope()
var myVar;
function myLocalScope() {
console.log(myVar);
}
myLocalScope();
@joewhale if you declare/define anything inside a function, it's local. FOr global, it has to be outside of the functions
Joel Choi
@joewhale

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>
<style>= color: red;

Ishtmeet Singh
@IshtmeetSingh
Jun 25 2016 07:23

@HackIvan you have to style p in side the style tags
`<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
p{
color: red;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

```
Krishna Sai Gullapalli
@Krish2704
Jun 25 2016 07:23
@HackIvan inside your p tags you've added a style tag
remove that
HackIvan
@HackIvan
and what??
i should change the color of the <p> elements also to red
Krishna Sai Gullapalli
@Krish2704
Jun 25 2016 07:24
@HackIvan if you want to add style for your p element, do it in the same way like you did for h2 element of class red-text. and every style should go inside the style tags
Keith
@Penderis
Jun 25 2016 07:25
@HackIvan the <style></style> tag remove it in your html <style>= does not mean anything
Krishna Sai Gullapalli
@jrweaver912 it mean that, normally tags have an opening and a closing tag like <p> and </p>, whereas for the input tag you don't need a closing tag (so it's not <input> and </input> instead it is <input/> so in the opening tag itself it has a closing tag that is self closing
But gray is more common in American English, while grey is more common in all the other main varieties of English. In the U.K., for instance, grey appears about twenty times for every instance of gray. In the U.S. the ratio is reversed."
Jun 25 2016 11:13
Your h2 element should use the font Lobster.
Your h2 element should degrade to the font Monospace when Lobster is not available.
Comment out your call to Google for the Lobster font by putting <!-- in front of it.
Be sure to close your comment by adding -->.
@Shabnam17 , I will give the answer but you have to understand the code:
  arr.push(item);
  return arr.shift();  // Change this line
}
Shabz17
I found it vague..
function nextInLine(arr, item) {
// Your code here
return item; // Change this line
}
// Test Setup
var testArr = [2];
// Display Code
console.log("Before: " + JSON.stringify(testArr));
console.log(nextInLine(testArr)); // Modify this line to test
console.log("After: " + JSON.stringify(testArr));
Evan Davis
@davisec52
Jun 25 2016 12:06
@bradulz Right now, your code is filtering out the second and third elements. That's why you end up with "tree".
If you want to filter out the second and third elements, your code is correct--and you are left with "tree", which would be correct per your code snippet.
@davisec52 i want to delete those elements so im left with hamburger. How would I go about that?
Evan Davis
@davisec52
Jun 25 2016 12:12
@bradulz Hambuirger is your second element, which means that it's index is 1. That is why it is deleting. Your code is saying to delete Hamburger and 53.
if you want to keep Hamburger then you would need--using your code--return val != arr[0] && val != arr[2];
Note that in your CSS style element, classes should start with a period. In your HTML elements' class declarations, classes shouldn't start with a period.
Inside your style element, change the h2 selector to .red-text and update the color's value from blue to red.
Give your h2 element the class attribute with a value of 'red-text'. i am unable to solve this
