@davey08 What are you trying to do?
First, you don't need quotes inside the <h1> element
German Alvarez
@TheGiver14
Jun 27 2016 00:05
@davey08 your <h1>"hello world"</h1> should be outside of style
Brooks Van Buren
@woofiewilly
Jun 27 2016 00:05
And your <h1> element needs to be outside your <style>
And your <h1> styling is empty.

Brooks Van Buren

Brooks Van Buren
@woofiewilly
Jun 27 2016 00:14
@kgesek The purpose of $(document).ready(function() {<here>}) means that your website will wait to run all your code in <here>, until your document is completely loaded.
This prevents any weird bugs from trying to change elements that are not loaded yet

Use the Bootstrap Grid to Put Elements Side By Side

Put the Like, Info and Delete buttons side-by-side by nesting all three of them within one <div class="row"> element, then each of them within a <div class="col-xs-4"> element.

The row class is applied to a div, and the buttons themselves can be nested within it.

Dylan

@michaelkornblum the issue i'm assuming you have is that chrome will only serve html5 location over https://
but the api for openweather is http://
so it codepen will not allow you to send the location to the api
@michaelkornblum it probably will work in firefox/safari
for chrome, you would need to get location by ip using a site like ip-api.com

1) Add a div element below your h3 element.
2) Your div element should have the class row
3) Your row div should be nested inside the container-fluid div
4)Make sure your div element has a closing tag.
It says I don't have number 1, here is what I have:
<div class="container-fluid">

Hi, I'm new to this so I'm on the first challenges, but I dont get how to keep my p elements font as monospace and have the h2 font as lobster

<style>
.red-text {
font-family: Lobster;
color: red;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Good evening, Campers. Tinkering with CSS...

I couldn't add margin to <input> tags until I came across putting the type in brackets. If I wanted to apply CSS to all <input>tags, is there a wildcard or other method to do so to avoid having to writ it this way? Thanks in advance. :)

<style>

        margin: 10px;

@pep11 , you can do this:
  <form>
    <input type="text" name="myForm" checked />
    <input type="text" name="myForm" />
  </form>
Oops, @pep11: Typo there. Leave out "checked" in 2nd line:
 <form>
    <input type="text" name="myForm">
    <input type="text" name="myForm">

@Tward1713, you create an id in your <style> section, such as:

#myID {
    color: red;
}

Then you can apply that `id', let's say to a paragraph, as follows:

<p id="myID">My paragraph text</p>
@Tward1713, when the browser looks to render (display) that paragraph, it "sees" that there's an id named "myID" -- it looks it up and applies what's in between the braces {} to that paragraph. In this case, it'll color the text red.

@Tward1713, in general, there are two parts to applying a style to an element: (1) creating the style (that's the CSS part); and (2) applying that style to an HTML element.

One last idea: Notice that in your CSS / <style>, the ID is preceded by a hash symbol (#). When you apply that ID to an HTML element, you leave the hash symbol off.

German Alvarez
@TheGiver14
Jun 27 2016 04:50
@johnny1701d if your interested its wrong also since anything in the style element is css and it asked you just to nest html so your <div class="container-fluid"> should go under your style element

@andreas2249
Jun 27 2016 04:50
@Tward1713, that's okay. Either order is fine. There's a pecking order or priority for how CSS is applied to elements. The order in the <form> tag doesn't matter.

@Tward1713, to put the grey shadow on words (which is used for code), enclose them in tick marks ``` -- that's usually the key to the left of the numeral 1 key.

To post formatted code:

  1. Copy the code

:point_right: adding snippets to sublime text [wiki]

Adding Snippets To Your Sublime Text Installation

If you are a user of sublime text (I hope you are, it kicks ass. You can get it here), then you may have already noticed some of the tab completion capabilities. For example, when you are opening an html tag such as <p>, it automatically closes the tag as soon as you type /. You can get similar functionality for pieces of code you end up re-writing over and over, and it's surprisingly easy!

Here's an example, which activates after typing div and then tab:

alt text

@Rockchalk8985 , just give a class to your div element like <div class="class-name"></div>
And then in between style tags. .class-name {the styling goes here}
@Spawn12 , use https://repl.it/ . It is easy ,fast and works great with return statements

$('body').css('background-size','cover')
is this the syntax?
Shusil Banjade
@shusil123
Jun 27 2016 07:44
Or just give body the background-size: cover; in your css . It'll make all urls images fit. @Krish2704
Simple
You don't have to use js in this case, I guess
@Krish2704 , or if you want to set it via jquery , just use multiline .css. Like this.
$("body").css({
     "background-image": "url(hello-1.jpg)",
     "background-attachment": "fixed",
     "background-size": "cover"
});

@Spawn12 ,

  var a = 8;
  console.log(a+"\n");
  var b = 5;
  console.log(b);

this works

Just include \n with quotes around it
and concatenate it with the variables
