this was my first time converting my codepen to an editor (used visual code studio). i thought i did my due diligence by reading about everything that needs to be in <head> but i didnt bother to think about the order of stylesheets.

@jdog779 You nested it correctly, but your <a> tag is incorrect. The href="linkhere" needs to be inside the <a>

to clarify, i put the bootstrap script above jquery and it broke my dropdown (on small widths). swapped it back and it's good now. just wanted to make sure.
Justin Scoggin
@jscogg

the bootstrap js depends on jquery in order to work, so you have to load jquery before bootstrap.js

thanks! i have a multidimensional list(a list of lists). i want to iterate through the primary list, element by element, to see if the first sub-element of each element == the first sub-element of the following element. basically what i have now is:
for i in list_of_lists:
if i[0] == list_of_lists[i + 1][0]
(then do stuff). but [i + 1][0] doesn't appear to be valid syntax.

this is odd. as of Challenge #69 the pre-supplied text is coming up such that you can't place the cursor where you want within the text. Lots of fiddling around fixed this but time could be better spent. This happens on Safari and Chrome. No way of demo'ing such a thing. Is anyone aware of this?

Hi everyone I was wonderingif anyone would be able to help me out with a bootstrap question. I have a navbar and a jumbotron and the navbar doesn't extend teh full width of the screen however teh jumbotron does even though both are set to a 100% width. So the question is where should I be looking to figure out what is going wrong? And/Or is there a particular google query that would help here? Here is my pen https://codepen.io/battletoads/pen/JKKxNY/

Hello all. I'm working on my tribute page. I have an ordered list with the text centered, but for some reason the unordered list bullet points are left oriented. Not sure what I'm doing wrong (and I'm not supposed to be using CSS for alignment as far as I understand it).

is there any other method to use strict mode in chrome

Jun 30 2016 04:24
@abhishekdevinfo why do you want to use strict mode, and that too in chrome?
Abhishek Baliyan
@abhishekdevinfo
Jun 30 2016 04:25
actually i am reading a book "you dont know js"
in this if i will use strict mode then i have to define "var a = 1;" instead of "a = 1;"

One key difference (improvement!) with strict mode is disallowing the implicit auto-global variable declaration from omitting
the var:

function foo() {
"use strict"; // turn on strict mode
a = 1;
// var missing, ReferenceError
}foo();

this is written in book
Ishtmeet Singh

you're calling function foo(), but that function doesn't returns anything, what do you expect that function to do?

@abhishekdevinfo
x = 3.14; // This will not cause an error.
myFunction();

function myFunction() {
   "use strict";

Hey guys I need help with this question: Your form element should have the background-color of green.
Arun Kumar Mohan
@arku
Jun 30 2016 05:24
@monajalal I guess the issue is because when the user stops hovering, you're just pausing the animation which means that the object you're animating stays scaled and doesn't go back to its original state. To achieve what you're expecting, you might want to use transitions and enable the animation when the object's being hovered. This way the object will get back to its original state when it loses hover
though i don't know why you need to animate like that
if it's just text, you can use css transitions
btw that's your exact animation you have, i just simplified everything so you can see it better

@Weedwiremane From first line, remove button and make it only animated, in second line, remove .btn , just only shake and in the last line, remove shake #target1 , it should be only btn-primary there.
@Weedwiremane you have to add one class only, you don't have to write selectors inside addClass(...)

Hey guys. Question about fromCharCode(). All the examples I'm finding show passing of pure numbers ie String.fromCharCode(65, 66, 78, 80) etc.
When I try passing an array of numbers, I'm getting a red dot as output
Is there something about the syntax that I'm missing?

does javascript read downwards? So let's say I console.log(url); and then AFTER I declare: var url = 'www';
Does the console.log work?
woja111
@woja111
Jun 30 2016 06:19
You need to define the variable before you use it.
There are asyncronous aspects like jquery, but regular code is synchronous.
hnry
@hnry
Jun 30 2016 06:24
well the variable would be defined
all var's and named functions get hoisted to the top
but assignment happens in order
so it would look like and run like:
var url
console.log(url)
url = "www"

@woja111 jQuery is as synchronous as JS (because it is written in JS). Both can make things happen outside JS engine that are async, like events and ajax calls.
woja111
@woja111
Jun 30 2016 06:26
Yeah, I was referring to document.ready() functions and event handlers which make it asyncronous.

hi there. i almost finished my twitch app. here are the instructions on using it: when you power it on the main display active its the full tv screen. when you click on a stream it will go to the main screen. if you click on the right to it will activate the pip channel and you can choose a stream you want to show on pip. the other one button just switch streams between tv and pip. can you please try it and let me know how can i update the ux to be more intuitive? thanks in advance. here is my link prior to upload it to codepen: http://realistik-it.com/fcc/twitch/

@YoungPlutus there's a <nav> element, that you use to make navigations. Or you can just make a header tag on top, and inside it make a <ul> consisting of <li> and each of them refer to the navigation link. In css give that li a display: inline; property.
@YoungPlutus this might be helpful http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_navbar.asp

@Yui8681 if you use a framework like bootstrap it is dictated by the framework, otherwise i think the base font size is based on the browser you are using. but usualy its 14 or 15 px or something like that

Hi all, I'm stuck on something... I'm pretty new so maybe this is something obvious I am missing.

I have a tribute page looking ok on desktop but when it goes down to mobile size the page scrolls from side to side rather than fitting snugly to the width of the mobile screen. Does anyone know what the issue is? I'm thinking it is margin or something on the container or image but can't fix it to work on both sizes.

Create a Set of Checkboxes

Forms commonly use checkboxes for questions that may have more than one answer.

Checkboxes are a type of input

Each of your checkboxes should be nested within its own label element.

All related checkbox inputs should have the same name attribute.

Here's an example of a checkbox:

<label><input type="checkbox" name="personality"> Loving</label>

Add to your form a set of three checkboxes. Each checkbox should be nested within its own label element. All three should share the name attribute of personality.

Your page should have three checkbox elements.
Each of your three checkbox elements should be nested in its own label element.
Make sure each of your label elements has a closing tag.
Give your checkboxes the name attribute of personality.

@Viggu27 I usually break down the problem and work from there. The first thing they want is something in the style attribute(<style></style>). After that I look for what they want inside it, in this example it's an class with the name pink-text. Later I ask myself, what is this thing(class in this case) supposed to do?
