Dario Idrovo
@djidrovo1
Aug 01 2016 00:17
@Alimulionbro yeah you cant look at the page's code, also you won't understand it most likely, if I am not mistaken, they used HTML5 and CSS3
@losmarco first things firts, remove the attribute from your h2 element
Alimulionbro
@Alimulionbro
Aug 01 2016 00:18
So any way to prepare for this so I can make a near perfect attempt on finishing the tribute page?
Dario Idrovo
@djidrovo1
Aug 01 2016 00:18
so you will need to delete this
style="color: red"
it should now look like this <h2>
Marco
@losmarco
Aug 01 2016 00:19
ya
Dario Idrovo
@djidrovo1
Aug 01 2016 00:19
next, you need to create a style element
so add <style></style> at the top of the page
next
Your h2 element should be blue.
in between your style tages
add
h2 {
color: blue;
}
and you're set
@Alimulionbro you already prepared, throughout the course

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong in the Diff Two Arrays challenge. Trying to use nested for loops to cycle through both array inputs and then splice out the values that are the same.
function diffArray(arr1, arr2) {
  for (i = 0; i < arr1.length; i++) {
    for (j = 0; j < arr2.length; j++) {
      if (arr1[i] == arr2[j]) {
        arr1.splice(i, 1);
        arr2.splice(j, 1);
      }
    }
  }

  return arr1.concat(arr2);
}

diffArray([1, 2, 3, 5], [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]);
Marco
@losmarco
Aug 01 2016 00:22
@djidrovo1 where do I put</style>
Justin Steele
@JustinSteele02
Aug 01 2016 00:22
With these inputs, the output is [2, 2, 4]. So I guess the 2s aren't getting matched for some reason?
Dario Idrovo
@djidrovo1
Aug 01 2016 00:22
@Alimulionbro start by adding a title h1, then a paragraph <p> then create a list, <ul> <il> etc...
on top of the page
you should have added <style></style>
then in between these tags you need to add the h2 i sent you
@JustinSteele02 whats the name of the challenge?

@Isaiah-S the style element that you have right at the bottom should be combined with the style element that you already have at the top.... no need for a second one... and then you need to add "silver-background" as a class to the div element...... Hope that makes sense.....
@sushinai you just need to put in a class="smaller-image" into the <img> element

Using .addClass(), add only one class at a time to the same element, three different ways:

Add the animated class to all elements with type button.

Add the shake class to all the buttons with class .btn.

Add the btn-primary class to the button with id #target1.

Note
You should only be targeting one element and adding only one class at a time. Altogether, your three individual selectors will end up adding the three classes shake, animated, and btn-primary to #target1.

Your #target1 element should have the classes animated‚ shake and btn-primary.
Only use jQuery to add these classes to the element

@jemagee :smile: You are specifying the wells when you put in the number, so in this case, (2).... if you were to change it to (3), it would give the class to the 3rd well down.....
@sushinai try typing the img element again.... save the url in the src... Would you be able to put your code up again.....
John Magee
@jemagee
Aug 01 2016 00:52
@Boris1011 That doesn't make sense - because the change is in the button - not the well - the nth-child(2) is the second button of each well, if you change it to 3 - it gives it to the third button in each well - i think it has something to do with the fact that each button has the class target - but it's weird to me - is it saying find the '2nd child with the class target'?

@jemagee all the buttons have the class .target, and i think the reason why it selects one from each well is because the wells are different parent elements. here's what you get when you console.log $(".target:nth-child(2)"); :point_up: July 31, 2016 5:56 PM

Brownie Points

The number beside your picture on Free Code Camp tells you how many Brownie Points you have.

A user profile picture next to a with Brownie Points score

There are two ways you can get Brownie Points:

  1. Complete challenges - you get one point per challenge you complete
  2. Help other campers in chat - each time you help another camper and they thank you (by typing "thanks @yourname"), you will get a point

Brownie Points help you look like the kind of person who codes a lot, shares relevant links, and helps people.

They also add to your Streak.

we can find the format/syntax in the Use a CSS Class to Style an Element lesson, here:

<style>
  .blue-text {

so, we need to this (per instructions): Create a CSS class called pink-text that gives an element the color pink.

@estebanmarquez can you post?
we need to do this (reference sample code):

.green-background {
  background-color: green;
}

then, we need to do this (per the test case): Give your div element the class silver-background.

Natsuko
@CrissyL32
Aug 01 2016 04:34
yeah it looks like that I don't know where the change should occur I'm a little slow to catch on sorry
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Aug 01 2016 04:36
@CrissyL32 so CSS can affect elements.. in that case you refer to teh element like they did here originally:
h2 {
    color: blue;
  }
Natsuko
@CrissyL32
Aug 01 2016 04:37
Your h2 element should be red.
Your h2 element should have the class red-text.
Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.
this is what's confusing
Darren
@DarrenfJ
Aug 01 2016 04:37
this will affect all h2's in your code. say you want to only affect specifically ones.. or several different html tags. you use a class.. you insert class="someName" between the <tag and it's ending >
CSS for a class is the name of teh class with a dot infront of it
like so:
.someClass {
    color: blue;
  }
something like that @CrissyL32

Darren

Aug 01 2016 04:40
@CrissyL32 I would actually put this is the opposite order of how you do it:
Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.
Your h2 element should have the class red-text.
doing those 2 things will make this happen:
Your h2 element should be red.
@Manish-Giri hey buddy!

Hey All having trouble with - Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors
my tests aren't clearing for 'Only add one class with each of your three selectors.'
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass("animate");
$(".btn").addClass("animated shake");
$("#target1").addClass("animate shake btn-primary");

not sure what is meant by add one class to each selector
doesn't each class have it's own specific class already?

app.listen(config.port, function(err) {

@manucpp API calls that result in errors (like 422) won’t follow code in your success block. You need an error handler for handling those. It’s probably called err or fail. Try the jQuery docs.

@UsamaHameed I do not understand what Object.keys is. I also don't understand how the program works when it has a parameter in the functions but we never tell the computer what the parameters are
r2d2
@UsamaHameed
Aug 01 2016 10:21
The Object is the generic object that would receive the JavaScript Object (JSON). This is the best explanation I can offer for Object.
And the foreach function iterates through the object it is applied on i.e json here and sends the sub-object, say, to the callback function that receives it in val
@JavarriL
Think of Object as a variable that inherits data from the parent object. Here the parent is json so Object gets the json and you can then find the keys from that json using Object.keys(val) and then use those keys to add them to the html. @JavarriL

HI peeps, I am following the map to learn the html/css/bootstrap... and i am also testing these codes using Aptana Studio 3 to make adjustments to the code to fit a desktop screen... but no matter what I do the Lobster font is not being recognised by any of the browsers-- i have the googleapis linked to the top of my html page. Can someone tell me why this is happening? It is also not working in codepen.

@deepanjana1107 you’re missing the head tags
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Aug 01 2016 11:10
@deepanjana1107 also, Lobster is a cursive font
@deepanjana1107 and, since you’ve placed the h2 element in a bootstrap grid, you need to override the default bootstrap font for Lobster to take effect
  h2 {
    font-family: 'Lobster', cursive !important;
  }

@deepanjana1107 personally, when importing google fonts, I always do it with an import statement, rather than a link
Try this

@import 'https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster';

  h2 {
    font-family: 'Lobster', cursive !important;
  }

Note - this is all in the CSS window

@Manish-Giri marking it important worked , thanks. Yeah I had also added the import statement in the CSS file it wasn't working even then, the ! important tag made the difference.

What does it mean by "between the style tags" when it says "Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px.". I've written {font-size: 16px;} in the style tag but it still is not working
