sweet.

I'm trying to go through a loop to check the properties of each object in the array. My question is, how do I refer to the property in each object in a statement? As an example:

for (j = 0; j < contacts[i].length; j++) {
          if (contacts[i][j] == prop) {
            return contacts[i][j];
           }

contacts[1][j] is incorrect because that's how you refer to a nested array right? How do I make my loop check through the properties of an object?

Kaisau

@Robinsond7691 where contacts[i] is the current contact, you can check if that contact has a property by calling contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(propToCheck). Or, if you really want to iterate over the properties of the object, for..in loop is designed for this. for (var prop in obj)

@GarrusNapp
this may be helpful: :sparkles:

A return statement determines the value the function returns. When control comes across such a statement, it immediately jumps out of the current function and gives the returned value to the code that called the function. The return keyword without an expression after it will cause the function to return undefined.

this line needs correcting: <p class="red-text" font-size: 16px>
the paragragh styling (ie font size) is already established within the style tags.
also, here: .p { (in the style tag/s) - remove the period .
reference example code format, here:
h1 {
  font-size: 30px;
}

its nested too far into your jumbotron... throw it right in the div where you put class="jumbotron"
Garrus Napp
@GarrusNapp
Aug 03 2016 01:53
@davto you must do the "Put the Like, Info and Delete buttons side-by-side by nesting all three of them within one <div class="row"> element, then each of them within a <div class="col-xs-4"> element."
Nick Beaudoin
@metasci
Aug 03 2016 01:54
also youre doing something really odd with jumbotron, youre putting a -5 attached to the class name... dont do that. Jumbotron serves a purpose, and by changing the way you type it into your class=" " you also make it so the browser doesnt treat it like it should treat a jumbotron @xiaji1

  height: /* fixed header height */;

@Na-Ya when you have the <h4> element with the class="text-right", you will need to add a .text-right in the style element for that class to work!!

Aug 03 2016 03:07
What do you mean by adding a .text-right to the style element
Boris
@Boris1011
Aug 03 2016 03:10

so like in either html or css, you should have a <style> </style>......... In this you should put in the img { } that you already have in the css and then add in a .text-right { text-align:right; } If that makes sense.....
So in all the style element should look like:

<style>
img {
margin: -30px;
}
.text-right {
text-align:right;
}
</style>

Na-Ya

help format @estebanmarquez
...as in can you post your code? :sparkles:

  • using Shift + enter will give you additional line feeds (space) for pasting your code. also, the backticks (`) key is located to the left of the number one (#1) key.
  • further, you may find the two buttons (chat/compose & markdown - the chat/compose button alternates modes) to the right of the text entry area helpful.
  • you can also edit text after it's been entered by clicking on the three (3) dots to the right of the text entry area (it will appear when you hover to the right of the time stamp).

bascially, there should be a style class added to the style element.
per the instructions, here: Give your h1 element the class of pink-text.

Brownie Points

The number beside your picture on Free Code Camp tells you how many Brownie Points you have.

A user profile picture next to a with Brownie Points score

There are two ways you can get Brownie Points:

  1. Complete challenges - you get one point per challenge you complete
  2. Help other campers in chat - each time you help another camper and they thank you (by typing "thanks @yourname"), you will get a point

Brownie Points help you look like the kind of person who codes a lot, shares relevant links, and helps people.

They also add to your Streak.

div.row > div.col-md-11{

div.row > div.col-md-9{

}

div.row > div.col-md-8{
    width: calc(8.33333333 *8)%;
}

div.row > div.col-md-7{
    width: calc(8.33333333 *7)%;

div.row > div.col-md-6{

I have everything correct except Emphasize the text in your target4 button by adding HTML tags. &
Make sure the text is otherwise unchanged and im not seeing where im going wrong <script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#target1").css("color", "red");
$("#target4").html("<em>jQuery Playground</em>");
});
</script>

@UsamaHameed
Aug 03 2016 08:14
@Miriam1882 You all your content in a div. And give that div a call of container-fluid
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Aug 03 2016 08:15
@Miriam1882 nesting means put your code between the opening and closing div tags
Kaisau
@Kaisau
Aug 03 2016 08:15
<div> <h4></h4></div>
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Aug 03 2016 08:15
yeah on that example the h4 tags are nested between the divs
r2d2
@UsamaHameed
Aug 03 2016 08:16

You wrap stuff like this:

<div> <!--outer div-->

<div>
</div>

</div>

@Miriam1882

like this: <div class=container-fluid>(opening tag)
Miriam

ok, I've already done that, but the lesson still say to me: Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid. :/

dont think you need to define container-fluid, thats a class given to you when you import Bootstrap
Kaisau
@Kaisau
Aug 03 2016 08:22
there's one problem right there yea, why is it style?
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Aug 03 2016 08:22
i would remove that, and add back the closing bracket for .smaller-image
Kaisau
@Kaisau
Aug 03 2016 08:23
take ot out of style
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Aug 03 2016 08:23
also, the div with class container-fluid needs to go after the </style> tag, and closing div tag at the end
that way all the body code is nested between the div (style doesn't get nested)
Kaisau
@Kaisau
Aug 03 2016 08:23
under style put div with container-fluid then close it at the bottom with </div>
what @coymeetsworld said

@rubix108 You should change your button's code:
<button type="submit" class="col-xs-5" class="btn btn-primary"><i class="fa fa-paper-plane"></div></i>Submit</button>
First of all, you can't have 2 seperate class for the button.
What you are asked to do is kinda the below:
<div class="col-xs-5"> <button> Your button </button> </div>

@rubix108 don’t go changing your code just based on how many rights and wrongs you get, understand the logic of what has been asked, and write that code, you’ll get everything green

@JoshuaATS add this code : h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

That code is correct. However, rest of his code is fucked up.
That is the reason his tests fail. And he's attributing that to this new code. :sweat_smile:
