hi, need some help with the hex code fro specific colors
<style>
body {
background-color: 000000;
}

</style>

Give your body element the background-color of black.
Use the hex code for the color black instead of the word black. For example body { color: #000000; }
is what they are asking for

Aug 04 2016 01:36
@Dilm0n in what way?
Dilm0n
@Dilm0n
Aug 04 2016 01:38
@jemagee It says "Give your form element the id of cat-photo-form"
John Magee
@jemagee
Aug 04 2016 01:39
you apply id's to form elements as you would any other html element, they're a subset - be it an h1, p, div, or input - id's are added the same way -

@JoshSwades the way to learn anything here is just self study(remember you can use whatever resources you need outside FCC) and engaging the community(asking question, a lot of it). Also the best way to remember stuff is when you grasped a concept teach it to someone else.

hey guys, stuck on a exercise, the wording is kind of ambiguous.

It says to insert a Font Awesome element into my Like button..but im unsure of how to do it. What I have so far is

 <i class="fa fa-thumbs-up" button class="btn btn-block btn-primary">Like</i>
what am I missing?

Hello FIrends Im back!.. In this problem Ive seperated the date format and am gonna try using switch statements to convert the numbers to words.. It says "Octal literals are not allowed in strict mode." When i do this though... Is this workable or have I made a mistake somewhere??

@ShawnWyatt You have a bit of the wrong concept for the <i> element. The i element is only supposed to encompass the icon, not the button.
Shawn Wyatt
@ShawnWyatt
Aug 04 2016 03:39
Use Font Awesome to add a thumbs-up icon to your like button by giving it an i element with the classes fa and fa-thumbs-up.
is what its asking me to do

which is why I said the wording was a bit ambiguous and has thrown me off

  componentDidMount: function() {
    var _this = this;

          _this.setState({
            jobs: result.data.jobs

  render: function() {
    return (
      <div>

  }
});

Quick Question: Why is my switch going straight to default???

function makeFriendlyDates(arr) {
  var arr0 =arr.shift();//create first date
 arr0= arr0.split(/-/);

  var arr1=arr.pop();//second date
  arr1=arr1.split(/-/);

   case "11":
     arr0[1] ="November";
     break;

   case "12":
     arr0[1] ="December";
     break;

}switch (arr0[2]) { //Then for each day date convert to days
      case "01":
      case "21":
      case "31":
         arr0[2] =parseInt(arr0[2])+ 'st';
    break;
      case "02":
      case "22":
         arr0[2] =parseInt(arr0[2])+'nd';
    break;
      case "03":
      case "23":
         arr0[2] =parseInt(arr0[2])+ 'rd';
    break;
      default: //With this default that adds "th"
         arr0[2] =parseInt(arr0[2])+ 'th';
    break;
    }

    //Here starts THE SECOND DATEs Conversion------------------------------------------------------
    //I took them out as they same as first and long to look at

  }

  return arr0 +" "+ arr1;
}
  makeFriendlyDates(['2016-07-01', '2016-07-02']);

As you can see 2016 07 01 becomes 01th when theres a case that says it should be 01st? What gives !!!

@IshtmeetSingh so you're using axios which you're not familiar with, and i'm not either. i don't even know if you've loaded in axios.js. just use .getJSON or whatever you're familiar with

@IshtmeetSingh this is so true

When I search for a new topic, there's atelast 3-4 new things to learn as well

Yesterday, I was doing React. For some reason, I had to learn a few things in Node first. While doing node, I had to revise a few things on “callbacks”. Then “events”. Then “streams”. And on and on we go.

@pbprathab would be helpful to perhaps post the problem, and your code

QUICK QUESTION: How can I make a concise codefor removing duplicates here without popping or shifting an element?

answer.push(arr0[0]+" " +arr0[1]+ " " +arr0[2]+ "," + " " +arr1[0]+" "+ arr1[1]+" " +arr1[2]);
  if(arr0[0]==arr1[0]){
  return answer-arr0[0]+arr1[0];

  }
   return answer;

Do i have to just write it out explicitly without the duplicates

@henrikpultzmelbye : Just a suggestion. Avoid using custom css to align your elements elements if you're using bootstrap. Bootstrap has it's very own ethos and opinions on how the page and elements should be structured. If you follow these stanndards, you shall be able to build your pages extremely fast with less confusion.

Please read official docs on Grid System that defines the skeleton of the page.
