I'm working on the "Label Bootstrap Buttons" and I've got everything done, but it won't give me that check mark.

<div class="container-fluid">
<h3 class="text-primary text-center">jQuery Playground</h3>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#left-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="left-well">
<h4>#target1</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1"></button>
<h4>#target2</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target2"></button>
<h4>#target3</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target3"></button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-6">
<h4>#right-well</h4>
<div class="well" id="right-well">
<h4>#target4</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4"></button>
<h4>#target5</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target5"></button>
<h4>#target6</h4>
<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target6"></button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

Am I missing something?

@ChaosHacks :sparkles:
here: <div class="well" id="left-well">
inside this div, we need:

  • a button tag (with 3 classes, and an ID) wrapping the appropriate #target

this will replace the incorrect existing code, here:

<h4>#target4</h4>
  <button class="btn btn-default target" id="target4"></button>
<h4>#target5</h4>

make sense? :sparkles:

Between the Style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and text zoom should be at 100%, did the set up between the style quotes and does not work.

just have a question about why the jQuery functions (specifically addClass() and removeClass() ) are case sensitive with that capital C? Do both the Capitalized C version and the lower case c version have separate functions or what?
John Magee
@jemagee
Aug 05 2016 01:06
@DavesterT42 javascript is case sensitive - period
and the standard is camelCase
hasOwnProperty for instance
David Tecker
@DavesterT42
Aug 05 2016 01:07
Do you know the reasoning for Class being capitalized?
John Magee
@jemagee
Aug 05 2016 01:08
@DavesterT42 because 'camelCase' is the established standard for javascript - and javascript is case sensitive - as you learn more methods and functions you'll find them all like that
Parker Kemp
@ChaosHacks
Aug 05 2016 01:08

I figured it out...and it was so obvious.
My code:

<h4>#target1></h4>

<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1"></button>
What I needed:

<button class="btn btn-default target" id="target1">#target1</button>
The instructions said "Just like we labeled our wells, we want to label our buttons."
Wells label code:

<h4>#left-well</h4>

<div class="well" id="left-well">
I thought they needed to be similar, I got confused.

John Magee
@jemagee
Aug 05 2016 01:08
If you're asking WHY camelCase is the standard - i couldn't tell you
Norvin Burrus
@ndburrus
Aug 05 2016 01:08

@DavesterT42 this may be helpful: :sparkles:

JavaScript
The built-in JavaScript libraries use the same naming conventions as Java. Data types and constructor functions use upper camel case (RegExp, TypeError, XMLHttpRequest, DOMObject) and methods use lower camel case (getElementById, getElementsByTagNameNS, createCDATASection). In order to be consistent most JavaScript developers follow these conventions.[citation needed] See also: Douglas Crockford's conventions

@DavesterT42 except you're missing the bigger picture - go to jquery.com and look at the built in functions - any that are MORE than two words will have the same camelCase set up - don't focus on the fact that it annoys you to have to do it in the one exercise - you will have to use camelCase in ALL built in methods (and you should use it in your own JS methods and variables as well) going forward - it's not a one time thing - it's contintuous through javascript

Brownie Points

The number beside your picture on Free Code Camp tells you how many Brownie Points you have.

A user profile picture next to a with Brownie Points score

There are two ways you can get Brownie Points:

  1. Complete challenges - you get one point per challenge you complete
  2. Help other campers in chat - each time you help another camper and they thank you (by typing "thanks @yourname"), you will get a point

Brownie Points help you look like the kind of person who codes a lot, shares relevant links, and helps people.

They also add to your Streak.

make circular images with a border radius
Santiago Gómez
@Sperkajugglite
Aug 05 2016 02:45
can you submit you projects from github instead of codeine?
Sabrina Ferguson
@itsacoyote
Aug 05 2016 02:45
in terms of specificity, the img has a thick-green-border classname which overrides the generic img styling that you put the border-radius: 50% in
Santiago Gómez
@Sperkajugglite
Aug 05 2016 02:46
codepen*
Sabrina Ferguson
@itsacoyote
Aug 05 2016 02:46
@Tlyman13 so your img will just have that border-radius: 10px instead of the border-radius: 50%;
Tanner Lyman
@Tlyman13
Aug 05 2016 02:47
but only the border is rounded off the actual image stays squared off
Sabrina Ferguson
@itsacoyote
Aug 05 2016 02:47
@Tlyman13 it simulates rounding the image, you can't directly round an image with css
Boris
@Boris1011
Aug 05 2016 02:47
@Tlyman13 in the thick-green-border style bit, instead of border-radius:10px; it should be 50%, then take out the img {50%} bit

@Tlyman13 if you don't want the ugly green border, you can simply do the border-radius: 50%; without specifying a color

Sabrina Ferguson
@itsacoyote
Aug 05 2016 02:52
@RohanParikh00 in a row in Bootstrap, you have 12 columns to fill. You used four columns, one for each social icon. 8 empty columns are left. So to center, you'll want four empty columns on the left, and four on the right. Offset by 4 to do so
Otherwise divs you put in there that don't fill up to 12 columns just plop in and start all the way from the left, just like they social icons are now.

@lolaamichele you may not see any color if you left the div empty. There's no size to a div that doesn't have anything inside it. Add some text inside the div to see it on the page and the background color you set to it.

In addition to classes, each HTML element can also have an id attribute.

There are several benefits to using id attributes, and you'll learn more about them once you start using jQuery.

id attributes should be unique. Browsers won't enforce this, but it is a widely agreed upon best practice. So please don't give more than one element the same id attribute.

Here's an example of how you give your h2 element the id of cat-photo-app:

<h2 id="cat-photo-app">

Give your form element the id cat-photo-form

DJ
@qualitymanifest
Aug 05 2016 05:38
@xSpideyx it's just a codepen thing, i can't remember exactly why. i think it has to do with how your output is run inside an iframe, or something. basically, target="_blank" makes the link open in a new tab, as opposed to inside the current window. outside of codepen you don't need to worry about it, unless you want something to open outside the current window

here is the assignment

Prioritize One Style Over Another
Sometimes your HTML elements will receive multiple styles that conflict with one another.

For example, your h1 element can't be both green and pink at the same time.

Let's see what happens when we create a class that makes text pink, then apply it to an element. Will our class override the body element's color: green; CSS property?

Create a CSS class called pink-text that gives an element the color pink.

Give your h1 element the class of pink-text.

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Your h1 element should have the class pink-text.
Your <style> should have a pink-text CSS class with its color set to pink.
Your h1 element should be pink.

and here is my code

<style>
h1 {
.pink-text: pink;
}
body {
background-color: black;
font-family: Monospace;
color: green;
}
</style>

<h1 pink-text: pink>Hello World!</h1>

The arguments object is an Array-like object corresponding to the arguments passed to a function. as stated on the link @DarrenfJ shared.
What you can do is get all the arguments from this Array-like object by actually converting it into an array by the code I shared above. Then use the args var.

You don't need a for loop. @Picshulo Just use the code

Although I don't know if the loop will work.

@mjamil016 you need to escape special characters so that you can insert them in a string correctly.
You can do that by adding backlashes: \ before those special characters. The special characters list is given in the left side panel of the challenge.

Add the animated class to all elements with type button.

Add the btn-primary class to the button with id #target1.

So, @Picshulo there is a general hidden variable called arguments that receives all the arguments no matter how many arguments are specified in the function call. We can use that arguments var and convert it into an array. To convert an object to an array we use Array.prototype function. It is applied on the slice.call(arguments); which "slices" the arguments object.
Hope that helps.

I am totally lost with this one and don't know what to do

You can add Bootstrap to any app by adding the following code to the top of your HTML:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css"/>

In this case, we've already added it for you to this page behind the scenes.

To get started, we should nest all of our HTML in a div element with the class container-fluid.

r2d2
@UsamaHameed

@lestebat what challenge? And can you paste your code?

Your div element should have the class container-fluid.
Make sure your div element has a closing tag.
Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid.

Your div element should have the class container-fluid.
Make sure your div element has a closing tag.
Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid.
Darren

Aug 05 2016 06:47
one of them is the class="container-fluid"
r2d2
@UsamaHameed

That container-fluid should wrap all your content. So that, bootstrap is applied to all your content. @lestebat
@lestebat your HTML content only.

@lestebat "Containers
Bootstrap requires a containing element to wrap site contents and house our grid system. You may choose one of two containers to use in your projects. Note that, due to padding and more, neither container is nestable.

Use .container for a responsive fixed width container.

Copy

<div class="container">
...
</div>
Use .container-fluid for a full width container, spanning the entire width of your viewport.

Copy

<div class="container-fluid">
...
</div>"
