and you can see it in the css its settings
I need that div to be centered, and as you can see, it is only to the left

hey can anyone help me out I'm having a problem on this one In the same way you can add classes to an element with jQuery's addClass() function, you can remove them with jQuery's removeClass() function.

Here's how you would do this for a specific button:

$("#target2").removeClass("btn-default");

Let's remove the btn-default class from all of our button elements.

<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("button").addClass("animated bounce");
$(".well").addClass("animated shake");
$("#target3").addClass("animated fadeOut");
$("button").removeClass("btn-defult");

});
</script>

Hi! I'm a bit stuck on a jQuery section. it's the "Change Text Inside an Element Using jQuery" section

Hi friends, I could use some help.
3<script> $(document).ready(function() { $("#target1").css("color", "red"); $("#target1").prop("disabled", true); $("#target4").remove(); $("#target2").appendTo("#right-well"); $("#target5").clone().appendTo("#left-well"); $("#left-well").parent().css("background-color", "red") }); </script>3
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#target1").css("color", "red");
$("#target1").prop("disabled", true);
$("#target4").remove();
$("#target2").appendTo("#right-well");
$("#target5").clone().appendTo("#left-well");
$("#left-well").parent().css("background-color", "red")
});
</script>
Your left-well element should have a red background.
You should use the .parent() function to modify this element.
The .parent() method should be called on the #target1 element.
Only use jQuery to add these classes to the element.
number 1 and 3 are not complete, while number 2 and 4 are
Can someone help me rectify this?

:point_right: challenge size your images [wiki]

Challenge Size your Images

CSS has an attribute called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use: <style> .larger-image { width: 500px; } </style>.

@fbradj yes, FCC is more geared towards web development. And even then, the javascript barely touches into what you'd learn in a computer science degree at college. For the most part, in a computer science degree, you're not going to "learn a specific programming language". You're learning various things like data structures and algorithms to be able to apply such things in any language you work in. Computer Science should not teach you any specific programming language.

@rmo005 so if you want to change a string, you have to redefine it, right? :)
Sabrina Ferguson
@itsacoyote
Aug 09 2016 03:16
@rmo005 so the challenge name is a hint of what you're doing. Immutability means unable to change. Once you've set a string, you cant' change a "part" of the string.
Ryan

So I tried adding myStr = "Hello World" above the myStrxamarin/xamarin-android@a16673d line

@rmo005 yes
Sabrina Ferguson
@itsacoyote
Aug 09 2016 03:17
@rmo005 what you're doing, myStr [0] is a good way to make a change, but we can't do that on a string. You'll have to convert that string to something else, then convert back to a string before you return it.

Just asking in your opinions, is HTML5, CSS and current JS is enough to build an FPS game right now? There's OpenAL and WebGL and stuff, and bunch of 3d frameworks like three.js, but the question is, is it just capable now in general and in terms of speed of graphics rendering?
Sabrina Ferguson
@itsacoyote
Aug 09 2016 03:23
@skelic2 it's better to work with some javascript framework to handle web gaming. There's a lot more to handling gaming as there's states, timing, pauses, etc you need to handle.
Otherwise, yes, you could technically create a very basic 2d sidescrolling shooty game
Ryan

I have to Nest one div element with the class well within each of your col-xs-6 div elements. but this is not getting done. this is my code:

<div class="well">

@rmo005 if you want to change part of a string, you have to assign the variable to a new rendition of a string. By that I mean you can't just change part, you have to change the whole thing.

Hi, I am instructed to to replace "href" with "#" to create a "dead link"
here is the line of code I am to change:

<p>Click here for <a href="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com">cat photos</a>.</p>

And this is what it looks like after the change:

<p>Click here for <a #="http://www.freecatphotoapp.com">cat photos</a>.</p>

yet it is not registering that the "a" element is dead, orthat the "href" as been replaced with a hash.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Bootstrap has its own styles for button elements, which look much better than the plain HTML ones.

Create a new button element below your large kitten photo. Give it the class btn and the text of "Like".

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Create a new button element with the text "Like".
Your new button should have the class btn.
Make sure all your button elements have a closing tag.

Hi all, I have a stuck in Record Collection. This is my code:

function updateRecords(id, prop, value) {
  if(prop != "tracks" && value !== "") {

    collection[prop].push(value);

  } else if (prop == "tracks" && collection[id].tracks === "") {

    collection[id].tracks = [];
    collection[id].tracks.push(value);

  } else if (prop == "tracks" && collection[id].tracks !== "") {

    collection[id].tracks.push(value);

  } else if (value === "") {

    collection.pop(prop);
  }

  return collection;
}

I think I use barracket and dot correctly.

@skelic2 agreed, learning why and when to use something will definitely get your further. A lot of sites tend to skim over the why and just show you how instead for the sake of being a crash course or quick bootcamp. If you really wanna get good at code you definitely need to look and learn from various resources

@Mushypeas90 the challenge is basically trying to show that you can stack classes onto a single element
PattyCreates
@PattyCreates
Aug 09 2016 04:46
You need to assign the class to the img first and then do the sizing to the class.
skelic2

also..<style>

change the 500px to 100px if that the challenges want that.

Does that make sense now @AndresCota96 ? If you think of a div element as a sweater, a class is a the description of the sweater. alt is like the label of the sweater in case the sweater burns and all that's left is the label to tell you what it once was. src is where the sweater is located (for images).
