He performed for 45 minutes, making eight passes along the wire. The following week, he celebrated his 25th birthday. All charges were dismissed in exchange for him doing a performance in Central Park for children.

Since then, Petit has lived in New York, where he has been artist-in-residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, also a location of other aerial performances. He has done wire walking as part of official celebrations in New York, across the United States, and in France and other countries, as well as teaching workshops on the art. In 2008, Man on Wire, a documentary directed by James Marsh about Petit's walk between the towers, won numerous awards. He was also the subject of a children's book and an animated adaptation of it, released in 2005. The Walk, a movie based on Petit's walk, was released in September 2015, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit and directed by Robert Zemeckis.

He also became adept at equestrianism, fencing, carpentry, rock-climbing, and bullfighting. Spurning circuses and their formulaic performances, he created his street persona on the sidewalks of Paris. In the early 1970s, he visited New York City, where he frequently juggled and worked on a slackline in Washington Square Park.</div>

Hi everyone! I'm on lesson 82 and having trouble adding a class to an element. Right now code reads:

<div class="btn btn-primary">
<input class="form control" type="text" placeholder="cat photo URL" required>
<button class="btn btn-primary" type="submit"><i class="fa fa-paper-plane"></i>Submit</button>
but it says that the input in the form still doesn't have the class form-control.

Do i need to add a second div class for the form-control?

@mjamil016 strings can't be changed. You have to assign it to a variable if you want a different string. myStr[0] = 'H'; won't work but var str = myStr[0] would work. but I guess the challenge is about changing the variable to 'hello world' ?

body {
background-color: black;
font-family: Monospace;
color: green;
}

.blue-text {
color: blue;
}

.pink-text {
color: pink;
}

There is no style element for smaller picture
Boris
@Boris1011

Aye you'll need a style element and then a class="smaller-image"
Mr. Schwul
@MrSchwul
Aug 12 2016 02:21
^
"Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide." is this the one?
luiyi
@luiyi01
Aug 12 2016 02:23
yes

and i already created one
but its not doing nothing
.smaller-image {
width: 100px;
}
Boris
@Boris1011

yep so that is in the style element and then you need a class="smaller-image" in the <img>

now declare the "class" in the image you wish to change

Brownie Points

The number beside your picture on Free Code Camp tells you how many Brownie Points you have.

A user profile picture next to a with Brownie Points score

There are two ways you can get Brownie Points:

  1. Complete challenges - you get one point per challenge you complete
  2. Help other campers in chat - each time you help another camper and they thank you (by typing "thanks @yourname"), you will get a point

Brownie Points help you look like the kind of person who codes a lot, shares relevant links, and helps people.

They also add to your Streak.

.red-text {

@Leeiaisabelle Really nice job! Well organized and presented: got a modern touch as well which is always a plus.

If I may, I would suggest considering a bigger letter spacing (like 1,2px) when writing huge paragraphs; it's the strategy Medium uses for its website to give it a more friendly and a less of a 'wall of text' look.

You may also want to consider to add a menu where a user can click and be redirected to the desired section.
These are mainly my ux suggestions.

Great job :) :)

  for(var prop in arr){//go through props in array

var speed= Math.round(2 * Math.PI * Math.sqrt(Math.pow(arr[prop].avgAlt + earthRadius, 3) / GM));  //forumala for orbital period

    arr[prop].avgAlt =arr[prop].orbitalPeriod; //change avg alt key name to orbital period

    arr[prop].orbitalPeriod=speed; //change key value to the orbital period.

  return arr;} //return it all as the answer.
}

orbitalPeriod([{name : "sputnik", avgAlt : 35873.5553}]);

"give a background color to a div element"
im making that cat photos app challenge
Mr. Schwul
@MrSchwul
Aug 12 2016 05:53
first me go to our style section becuase we need to create a style element
@itsdima what does it tell you to name the element?
Dima Pricop
@itsdima
Aug 12 2016 05:55
ooh i think i got it. just caught on. in order to add a class to the div i first have to include that in my style list
Mr. Schwul

Aug 12 2016 05:55
yes
Dima Pricop
@itsdima
Aug 12 2016 05:55

in order for my entire div element to have the silver background
Mr. Schwul
@MrSchwul
Aug 12 2016 05:58
inside of it
the one at the top
that's called the open div
Dima Pricop
@itsdima
Aug 12 2016 05:58
<div>
<p>Things cats love:</p>
<ul>
<li>cat nip</li>
<li>laser pointers</li>
<li>lasagna</li>
</ul>
<p>Top 3 things cats hate:</p>
<ol>
<li>flea treatment</li>
<li>thunder</li>
<li>other cats</li>
</ol>
</div>
Mr. Schwul
@MrSchwul
Aug 12 2016 05:58
<div>
Since <div> pretty much effects all of that section till it hits the closing div </div>
So you add it to the opening <div> at the top
Dima Pricop
@itsdima
Aug 12 2016 06:00
okay. and how do i start it? sorry all the begginer questions. like for my picture i used <img class= blah blah
Mr. Schwul
@MrSchwul
Aug 12 2016 06:00
but you have to create a class to declare the element
Same thing
as the picture
Dima Pricop
@itsdima
Aug 12 2016 06:00
i use <img?
Mr. Schwul
@MrSchwul
Aug 12 2016 06:00
no
The challenge says "Create a class called silver-background with the background-color of silver. Assign this class to your div element."
you created the class
Which is "Silver-background
So you have to assign the class now to your <div class="">
Same concept as the img thing

@freisythk same concept but this time your using the the element <form>
Freisy Santana
@freisythk
Aug 12 2016 06:17
no i haven't
Mr. Schwul
@MrSchwul
Aug 12 2016 06:18
Ok so when you nest your wrapping another element inside of a new one in this case it's <form>
and form like most other elements has to have a closing element as well</form>
so the instructions say "Nest your text field in a form element. Add the action="/submit-cat-photo" attribute to this form element."
So go down to your input="text" and nest it with your new <form> element
the whole thing
@freisythk did you get it?

Your stylesheet should declare a red-text class and have its color set to red.

<style>
.red-text {
color:red;
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

can anyone pls explain to me what does 'Do not add a class attribute to the second p element.?" and this "Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%" mean
Mr-Maple
@Mr-Maple
Aug 12 2016 08:28
In the second p element don't add class="something"
and in the style area
Call p
i.e. p {
font-size:16px;
}
ignore the browser and text zoom part unless you've zoomed into your browser for some reason

Your div element should have the class container-fluid.
Make sure your div element has a closing tag.
Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid.

hi everyone, i'm on an exercice about Jquery and there is something i don't understand.

In this exercise i have to remove this element:
id="target4">#target4</button>

I succeeded but i used #target for to identify it in Jquery but according to what i understand, to identify it i should have used "target4" because "#target4" is just text, where am i wrong?

thank you.
