Lauren Best
@laurennbestt
Aug 15 2016 00:51
You need 2 p elements with Kitty Ipsum text.
Make sure each of your p elements has a closing tag.
Your p element should contain the first few words of the provided additional kitty ipsum text.
The first p element should have the class red-text.
Do not add a class attribute to the second p element.
Between the style tags, give the p elements font-size of 16px. Browser and Text zoom should be at 100%.

Change the Font Size of an Element
Font size is controlled by the font-size CSS property, like this:

h1 {
font-size: 30px;
}
Create a second p element after the existing p element with the following kitty ipsum text: Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.

Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

Also, please do not add a class attribute to your new p element.

@laurennbestt You have to close it. When you don't it thinks that it's just one paragraph. And when you add the 2nd one it doesn't have a class so it's not red. Everything is good.
@laurennbestt you have to do this: create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

@XavierNR Yo i'm on the challange of finding the longest word in a string, i separated the words of the string into an array. I'm thinking of going through the array, finding the longest length among the words and outputting that length. does that sound correct?

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<img src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. ">

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

i did all of this so what's wrong

Create a class called thick-green-border that puts a 10-pixel-wide green border with a style of solid around an HTML element, and apply that class to your cat photo.

Remember that you can apply multiple classes to an element by separating each class with a space within its class attribute. For example:

<img class="class1 class2">

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Your img element should have the class smaller-image.
Your img element should have the class thick-green-border.
Give your image a border width of 10px.
Give your image a border style of solid.
The border around your img element should be green.

Hey all. I'm learning redux atm and have a question.
I'm trying to learn current best practices now rather than learning old ways first and then move to newer ways. In my actionCreators.js should I be using function declarations or es6 function expressions?

Like this:

function increment(index){
    return {
        type: 'INCREMENT',
        index
  }
}

Or this:

const increment = (index) => ({
    type: 'INCREMENT',
    index
});

They both return the same thing. I know 1 gets hoisted while the other doesn't. In most of the examples I've seen they have it with a function declaration. just wondering if I can do it the expression way because I think it looks a lot nicer. Thanks.

You can build web forms that actually submit data to a server using nothing more than pure HTML. You can do this by specifying an action on your form element.

For example:

<form action="/url-where-you-want-to-submit-form-data"></form>

Nest your text field in a form element. Add the action="/submit-cat-photo" attribute to this form element.

Run tests (ctrl + enter)
Reset Help Bug
Nest your text input element within a form element.
Make sure your form has an action attribute which is set to /submit-cat-photo
Make sure your form element has a closing tag.

how do i do this?

@chaney06 ^^ is right. remember to create classes in between style tags; a . is always used before a class in between the style tags. when you apply the class to something, like the img, drop the . and just put quotes around it

});

<div class="container-fluid">

:point_right: adding snippets to sublime text [wiki]

Adding Snippets To Your Sublime Text Installation

If you are a user of sublime text (I hope you are, it kicks ass. You can get it here), then you may have already noticed some of the tab completion capabilities. For example, when you are opening an html tag such as <p>, it automatically closes the tag as soon as you type /. You can get similar functionality for pieces of code you end up re-writing over and over, and it's surprisingly easy!

Here's an example, which activates after typing div and then tab:

alt text

@caseycrosby It's not dumb, it's a normal question when you aren't used to it.
caseycrosby
@caseycrosby
Aug 15 2016 05:29
also probably another dumb question but what is the different between a <h1> tag and <p> tag
like those are the first two things covered here and they both seem to work similar but p tags make them paragraphs?
Victor
@victicdin
Aug 15 2016 05:30
One is a heading, the other is a paragraph. Literally that simple tbh. Headings come in a numbered range that do different things. paragraphs just surround text.

encount
@encount
Aug 15 2016 06:31
@Claritize they split the page into 12 column - then you assign columns for certain screen sizes - if you want to center a block you can offset it
@Claritize a sm screen is like iPad, where xs is iphone

Anna Zhang

so depending on what screen the page is being viewed on the xs or sm classes get ignored?

here is my code

@Sowmya4cc
Sowmya4cc
@Sowmya4cc
Aug 15 2016 06:52
By nesting, it means that one element can be added inside another element..
so we have to create an element before the closing tag of the main element.
example:
<form>
<h1></h1>
<input type="text"></input>
</form>
in the above example, we have added "h1" element and "input" element within "form" element

function cc(card) {
// Only change code below this line
switch(card){
case 2:
case 3:
case 4:
case 5:

case 7:
case 8:
case 9:
break;

case 10:
case "J":
case "Q":
case "K":
case "A":
count--;
break;

}

@ahmedtarek2134 You will write a card counting function. It will receive a card parameter and increment or decrement the global count variable according to the card's value (see table). The function will then return a string with the current count and the string "Bet" if the count is positive, or "Hold" if the count is zero or negative. The current count and the player's decision ("Bet" or "Hold") should be separated by a single space.
