I'm on 'profile lookup' on basic javascript and can't seem to find what's wrong with my code
function lookUpProfile(firstName, prop){
// Only change code below this line
   for (var i = 0; i < contacts.length; i++) {
    if (firstName === contacts[i].firstName && contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop)) {
      return contacts[i][prop];
    }

      if (firstName !== contacts[i].firstName) {
      return "No such contact";
     }

     if (!contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop)) {
       return "No such property";
     }
  }
// Only change code above this line

}
any help?
all these work it just seems to be in the wrong position?

@akhawaiian808 Your second if is checking the first contact to see if firstName matches their first name, and if not, immediately exits the loop (and function) via return. In other words, it's not even getting to the rest of the contacts to check them. The same problem is present in the third if statement. You need to alter your conditionals just a little bit, you're close though

  • .red-text is a style element class. it defines the color as red.
  • if we take a peek back at the lesson Use a CSS Class to Style and Element we see the format, here:
    <style>
    .blue-text {
      color: blue;
    }
    </style>
    to use the class in an element, we can use the format here:
    <h2 class="blue-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Can't believe I'm stuck so early in the game. But one of the lessons is asking me to declare a css class smaller-image which sets the width of an image to 100 px. In my style section I've written out:
.smaller-image {
width: 100px
}

and then later in my img tag I have:
<img class="smaller-image" src="https://yadda" alt="yadda">

I'm having trouble with CSS specificity. I have a CSS file right now with two font-size: properties. One is in a class that's declared on a parent div, and the other is in an h1 . function move(){ choices[Math.floor(Math.random()*choices.length)];
 var val = choices[index];

    choices.splice(index, 1);
                 return val   };
If i say console.log(move) it returns the function.. how can I get it to log the result??

@snickerz your class declarations have run into each other.

<style>
.smaller-image {
  width: 100px;
}

.silver-background {
  background-color:silver;
}

So you're missing a closing curly bracket on your smaller-image declaration and also missing an opening curly bracket on your silver-background declaration

@MarcT4 multiple classes only need to be separated by a space within the quotations:

Use a screenshot program. I personally use, www.puush.me. Otherwise you got print screen, which is ineffective in most cases.

Hi guys i would be happy to get some help with somthing i dont find logic
Look at this script
<form action="/submit-cat-photo">
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Indoor</label>
<label><input type="radio" name="indoor-outdoor"> Outdoor</label>
<input type="text" placeholder="cat photo URL" required>
<button type="submit">Submit</button>
</form>
In the start there is form element that making the button and than there is some radio button labels and in the end we getting back to the button with the submit and placeholder
Why they split it and putting inside the submit button things the radio button if its not together in the html page?

O.o Um.. Is English not your main language?
ongaku81
@ongaku81
Aug 24 2016 05:52
the <form> tag doesn't create a button, it just creates a form, you can imagine a rectangle around all the elements inside the <form></form> tags that would look like a form you would fill out on paper. Everything inside the tags just create the elements on the form (i.e., the radio buttons, checkboxes, buttons).

Hello, I am looking to program a Script Executor for testing. What language should I learn?

Aug 24 2016 05:59
@Alon2904 It matters the order that you enter the elements, which will become clear when you begin formatting them. It just looks really messy right now since it's using a default formatting, something you'll work on later.
Xavier
@XavierNR

Yeah I know what you mean. I just meant in terms of professional jargon/lingo. I've taken a C++ class and the instructor always wanted us to call the .(dot) instead of (period)
I'm not in the professional world just yet but I just wanted to know what the correct term was so that I can be better prepared.
Xavier
@XavierNR
Aug 24 2016 06:48
O.o Strange, it could of be perhaps in relation to the type of code as to stop confusion when relating to different uses. Though, I'm not sure how that would occur.
Learning the different types of use is good for you, not everyone uses the right syntax at times.

Neither would I. My professor was rather young though so maybe that had to do something with it. He had just turned 30 at the time I took the class. Yeah, I didn't see a pun.. >.<. syntax adaption will be a must. FCC doesn't teach it in the early stages, I don't know about later. The html lessons are such a mess.
I used to think it was clean.. Then I moved to codepen and I can't stand FCC code lines.
AnthoniusFuller
@AnthoniusFuller
Aug 24 2016 06:56
Yeah I understand. I've been using CodeAcademy up until now and their HTML lessons are quite a bit more polished, yet, too general.
At least FCC goes into a bit more detail. Still, each website has its own strengths and weaknesses.
Xavier
@XavierNR
Aug 24 2016 06:58

The inline style seems to be the problem. It's giving me: Your image should be 100 pixels wide. Browser zoom should be at 100%.
Then the image tag is all like:
<img class='smaller-image' src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. ">

I am getting a JSON as a response after an AJAX call in my Chrome Dev tools. so now I want to view that response in the console .

Is their a way for the same or any plugin.

Actually i want to modify that data in the Dev Tools itself and then view the output rather that going to Code Editor changing the code then coming back and refreshing the page again ...to avoid this is their a shortcut way for the same.

Which will enable me to edit the JSON response in dev tools itself.

Darth Skywalker
@adityaparab
Aug 24 2016 08:45

@deepakSpatil : There ain't any straight forward way of doing that.

What you can do is, get that response, hard code it in your code, comment your ajax call and use the hardcoded data to do your stuff

if refreshing browser each time you make changes feels annoying, you might wanna explore tools like live reload or browser sync
