@rostyslavsagadyn 2 things... in the style tag, the pink-text should have a . in front of it.... so like .pink-text {} then inside that .pink-text, you won't need the .pink-text inside the { } then when you have the Class="", the c should be a lower case!!! Maybe 3 things then!!!

@rostyslavsagadyn Okay. In your <style> tags, when you're declaring a class, you start it with a ., then use curly braces to add properties. Like this:
<style>
.pink-text {
color: pink;
}
</style>

@JusticeViene :sparkles:

  • we can follow the example code format/syntax, here (to place a class in the style element):

    <style>
       .larger-image {
           width: 500px;
        }
    </style>
  • we need to then use that class within the img tag.

@slbcarey08 :sparkles:

  • we need to identify/use a size class in 2 places.
    we need to identify the class within the style per the example code, here:

    <style>
    .larger-image {
      width: 500px;
    }
    </style>
  • next, we need to use the class in the img tag - with no dot/period.

Boolean
Description
The value passed as the first parameter is converted to a boolean value, if necessary.
If value is omitted or is 0, -0, null, false, NaN, undefined, or the empty string (""), the object has an initial value of false.

so, we can use boolean within the function to be filtered.

Al
@gobees
Aug 26 2016 02:30
@ndburrus so what I'm not getting is if I create a boolean value for NaN isn't that simply just filtering on the boolean value of false? Because I already have a filter set for boolean values of false.
Norvin Burrus
@ndburrus
Aug 26 2016 02:31
@gobees well, boolean can handle all the criteria. you say you have a true/false filter. why not use one filter to determine All (see above) false returns?
per the instructions, (here)
Falsy values in JavaScript are false, null, 0, "", undefined, and NaN.
Al
@gobees
Aug 26 2016 02:33
well... Im here because the filter for false is not filtering "NaN".... :worried:
but it does filter the element who's value is 'false'
Norvin Burrus
@ndburrus
Aug 26 2016 02:33
@gobees ok, so let's play this out. how do you want to filter NaN? or undefined? ...how about null?
Al
@gobees
Aug 26 2016 02:35
to be clear, I started with arr.filter only to learn it wouldn't work for me. caused an error. so I created a switch to filter on all the elements I needed to remove. I can remove all except "NaN"

Norvin Burrus
@ndburrus
Aug 26 2016 02:37
@gobees ok, i see your point. it may be worth onsidering what the test criteria that allow passing involve. since the lesson suggests using filter & boolean, i imagine they test for that in the result (i'm not certain)
so, if you make a case to test for NaN, then i think we'll learn the answer :)
Al
@gobees

@jhadams82 it just makes it super local, it's not necessary but it works. Anyway, I made it stop logging 1 like this:

function largestOfFour(arr) {
  var largestArr = []
  for(x=0;x<4;x++) {
      var largestNum = (Math.max.apply(Math, arr[x]));
      if (largestNum != 1) {
console.log(largestNum);
      }
    }
  }

largestOfFour([[4, 5, 1, 3], [13, 27, 18, 26], [32, 35, 37, 39], [1000, 1001, 857, 1]]);

@andrewjkay If your doubt is why the loop iterate 5 times...
well remember that computer "start counting" from 0.
So saying for x=0, x<4 ... is like saying
0, 1, 2, 3, 4 -> 5 times total.

Just switch to 'arr.length' instaed of manually counting :)

@jhadams82 The loop run 5 times tho, so it will push 5 different values in it.

var step;
for (step = 0; step < 5; step++) {
  // Runs 5 times, with values of step 0 through 4.
  console.log('Walking east one step');

Claudio Restifo
@Marmiz
Aug 26 2016 06:06

@cbmarm777 Ok, I found your challenge.
Let me take a step back:
to style an html often coders use a "language" called CSS. Such CSS require to be placed in the <style> tag in the <head> section.

You'll see how it works later.

for the time being, and the challenge you're doing now,
just add the 'style' syntac to the html element.

<h2 style"color: blue">MY H2</h2>

@jhadams82 I tried to reproduce @andrewjkay original code in another environment:
(repl.it)

function largestOfFour(arr) {
  var largestArr = []
  for(x=0;x<4;x++) {
        var largestNum = (Math.max.apply(Math, arr[x]));
        console.log(largestNum);
    }
  }

largestOfFour([[4, 5, 1, 3], [13, 27, 18, 26], [32, 35, 37, 39], [1000, 1001, 857, 1]]);

/*outputs are:
5
27
39
1001
*/

It works as expected. My 2 cents on the 'extra 1 issue' is probably an error in FCC internal console. Sometimes happens.

I have reached the Build Your Portfolio challenge. And I wonder what I really should start with. The were no explanations about the top navigation bars in the lessons and the links to a specific place on the web. I should Read-Search-Ask. Of course, I could just copy the template from getbootstrap.com. I just wonder what should I google for and what should I start with to build this site manually. Your opinion, %username%?

Hi everyone, I'm up to the basic front-end developement projects. I don't really understand the 2nd instruction, what does a user story mean?

Rule #2: Fulfill the below user stories. Use whichever libraries you need. Give it your own personal style.
