does any body know how to do this ( Your div element should have the class container-fluid.
Make sure your div element has a closing tag.
Make sure you have nested all HTML elements in .container-fluid) i just don't understand how to do the class amd also nest.

Josh
@72undead
Sep 08 2016 00:46
I am on lesson 92 "Give Each Element a Unique ID" and I am currently stuck, it's asking me to make a target for each jquery element. so I named them as it asks "Give each of your buttons a unique id, starting with target1 and ending with target6."
Rits1225
@Rits1225
Sep 08 2016 00:46
@arelyadri so first you decide which type of design you want to go, container-fluid or container then you make new div with class row then you create new div with column class
@arelyadri what do you wanna achieve?
Derek

.image-header {

You're trying to change the font on h1 when you do not have an h1 defined. Should be p. I believe that's your problem there @gwebster1019

I can't spend an hour on this. I'm going mad. Trying to get stupid cat img. I have it under style as img {width: 100px;} but it won't un-redX the IMG element, I've tried a million permutations, nothing is working. I have to put .smaller-image in somewhere, but nothing works.

Hey, so I am currently working on "Target the same element with multiple jQuery Selectors" and I am confused on what it means by "Only add one class with each of your three selectors."
LPR-309
@LPR-309
Sep 08 2016 01:56
@MissMyDad Okay, the problem is that you're applying the width on the image element - which is correct technically, but not right for this lesson. You have to change that img in the <style> tags to a class of "smaller-image". And since classes start with a ., it would be .smaller-image.
Then, after that, you need to add a class= attribute to your <img>, and just write the class in there within quotes. You don't need the dot here, just the class name
MissMyDad
@MissMyDad
Sep 08 2016 01:58
I tried that and then it unchecks the 100 pixel thing and I'm back to two red X's.

Any help on turning my code to blue?

At the top of your code, create a style element like this:

<style>
</style>

Inside that style element, you can create a CSS selector for all h2 elements. For example, if you wanted all h2 elements to be red, your style element would look like this:

<style>
h2 {color: red;}
</style>

Note that it's important to have both opening and closing curly braces ({ and }) around each element's style. You also need to make sure your element's style is between the opening and closing style tags. Finally, be sure to add the semicolon to the end of each of your element's styles.

Delete your h2 element's style attribute and instead create a CSS style element. Add the necessary CSS to turn all h2 elements blue.

<style>
<h2 {color: blue;}CatPhotoApp</h2>
</style>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

did I do my code wrong?

@oliveblend "hinge" is a purpose not a parameter.I remember addClass only need a parameter.You can try.
@ispooni you can create a class which contains font-size,and set font-size 16px; then you can put the class iin p tags.like this:<p class="something">balabla</p>

@babycannotsay Because it is a purpose, that means it needs to be an addClass of it's own? I was able to pass with

$("body").addClass("animated");
$("body").addClass("hinge");

I'm assuming, $("body").addClass("animated").addClass("hinge"); would work too?

what does the name attribute in radio button signify??
MoleManMike
@MoleManMike
Sep 08 2016 06:03
@hmokingbird I'd love to know a little more about what you've heard about jQuery reliance
if you can find out anything more about it
I'm currently going through the jQuery section, and would like to be aware of any future-proofing that I need to do in my learning
@sohamchitalia I'm pretty sure the name attribute is used to identify the buttons that are "alike", i.e. part of the same question
So for a choice between Indoor and Outdoor, one has the text of "Outdoor" and one is "Indoor", but the result of the user's choice is obviously going back to one question named Indoor-Outdoor

@MoleManMike They remove the need to understand the underlying aspects of DOM manipulation
Stuff like choosing elements by class is automated in jQuery
MoleManMike
@MoleManMike
Sep 08 2016 06:11
I feel like getting an understanding of jQuery is still valuable
It might be automated, but even so, it's probably the main method you would used to manipulate elements

seems to work when I put it into codepen
@hmokingbird the only thing that comes to mind when I try to think of a comparison, is that in physics you might use an equation to solve for a variable, without knowing the proof for that equation and where it came from
but the equation is still useful
Eventually if you went into higher physics you would look at the proof to give you a better understanding of the underlying principals, but as a beginner, the equation is all you need
i.e. what jQuery does for us automatically, is still useful now, and if you want to get more in depth, you can look into it yourself later

@YeOldCripple To create bootstrap elements you just need to use some classes. For example for buttons <button class="btn">Like</button>
James C Hurst
@YeOldCripple
Sep 08 2016 07:15

its says create a bootstrap button number 67 on the map. Bootstrap has its own styles for button elements, which look much better than the plain HTML ones.

Create a new button element below your large kitten photo. Give it the class btn and the text of "Like".

no
how do i get it

.red-text{
color: red;
}
Aishna

<h2.red-text{color: red;} class="red- text">CatPhotoApp</h2.red-text>

@Aishnaohri the declaration goes in the <style> section

....styling goes here including the .red-text{ ... }
</style>

....rest goes here

@Aishnaohri all css declaration should be in <style> section
Keith

The idea is there but no. Css is above your html head in a style tag ,
<head>
<style>
.red-text {
color:red
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
//your html goes here
<div class="red-text">Text I want  red </div>
</body>

I'm in the Basic Algorithm Scripting section, question is Seek And Destroy

return val!=arguments[1];

this is not work although arguments[1] has a value. can anyone help?

greg
@wearenotgroot
Sep 08 2016 09:40
@theCoderMonkey which arguments is that ? is it from the main function or inside a callback function?
theCoderMonkey
@theCoderMonkey
Sep 08 2016 09:40
@wearenotgroot It's in the filter function.

  // Remove all the values
   arr = arr.filter(function(val){
    return val!=arguments[1];
  });
  return arr;
}

<style>.red.text
h2 {
color: red;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

this is how i did now
greg
@wearenotgroot
Sep 08 2016 09:41

@theCoderMonkey remember arguments[1] will be the second argument pass on to that callback function
so this

return val!=arguments[1];

will compare arguments[0](which is val) vs arguments[1] (arguments of the filter callback function)

Nelya
@NankaBananka
Sep 08 2016 09:42
@theCoderMonkey you can use indexOf, you can have more than one argument
theCoderMonkey
@theCoderMonkey
Sep 08 2016 09:42
@wearenotgroot i think the problem is filter can't see arguments so should i put it outside the filter?
Keith
@Penderis
Sep 08 2016 09:42
no need for H2, and should be red-text as you use it inside the html the "." only istructs css it is a class
greg
@wearenotgroot
Sep 08 2016 09:43
@theCoderMonkey well every function gets its own arguments object

@Aishnaohri you make class like this:

.red-text{
color: red;
}

no need in h2

Aishna
@Aishnaohri
Sep 08 2016 09:46

<style>.red.text{

}

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

Sep 08 2016 09:46

@Aishnaohri the . in front is the selector for class

.red-text

vs

 .red.text
Keith
@Penderis
Sep 08 2016 09:47
.red-text , you type the name as you declared it in html. "." for class="" and # for id=""
