Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

I think I understand
In practice it works just fine, but going over the abstract concept in my head is difficult.

@Manish-Giri so in this example <div class="container-fluid">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-1">
</div>
<div class="col-xs-10">
<img class="img-responsive fat" src="http://www.panacomp.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/GORE335962_1.jpg" </div>

the first </div> is not closing the row?

but does it end the container-fluid class?

Sep 23 2016 02:48

@Sultan2790 It's just asking you to assign some CSS code to the paragraph elements in your HTML. You do that inside the <style> tags near the top of the document.

<style>
h1 {
font-size: 18px;
}
</style>

That gives Heading 1's a font size of 18px.

hello guys, i have a problem here with nesting a element to a p element, may be i misunderstood the guide, i tried some ways but it didn't work, please help, here's my code:

Robert Stone
@rjstone
Sep 23 2016 03:29
@ald1413 Use either myObj.checkProp or myObj['checkProp']
@minhtuan2359 The <a> really needs to be inside of a <p>. Text isn't supposed to be directly inside a <body> tag, but I'm not sure what's containing all that. Some HTML elements are always supposed to be inside others, according to the spec, and others are never supposed to be inside certain others. What's the link to the exercise you're on?
Aldair
@ald1413
Sep 23 2016 03:32
@rjstone i tried both dot and bracket but nothing my code only reads the return "Not Found"
Robert Stone
@rjstone
Sep 23 2016 03:35
I don't think it should matter, but you don't actually need myObj.hasOwnProperty("checkProp")===true you can just do if(myObj.hasOwnProperty(checkProp)) and actually the problem is you have checkProp in quotes. so Instead of checking for a property using the contents of the variable, it is always checking for a property literally named "checkProp"
You never need something like if(x == true) because if(x) will always execute the block if x is true. You'd only need the === if you were checking for false. But people also use if(!x) more commonly than if (x == false)

</style>
that's my example
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Sep 23 2016 04:36
yeah so your style is fine, you got smaller-image ok
you don't need to mess with the css anymore
but, you didn't give the smaller-image class to the img tag
you need to do that and then it will make it 100px wide
defining the style itself doesn't do anything it also needs to be applied
LaToya Keller
@ToyToyscode
Sep 23 2016 04:37
ok

Sep 23 2016 04:47
@coymeetsworld i was able to make the image smaller now trying to figure out how to give it the class smaller-image
<style>
img {
width: 100px;}
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}
</style>
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Sep 23 2016 04:47
that accompishes the same thing @knightofk , but its not what they ask for
you want to create a class smaller-image with the style of 100px
and give the img tag the class smaller-image
knightofk
@knightofk
Sep 23 2016 04:48
so im guessing <style>
<img class= smaller-image
Coy Sanders
@coymeetsworld
Sep 23 2016 04:49
yes the class definition goes inside the style tags
knightofk
@knightofk
Sep 23 2016 04:53
so im guessing its about the placement of the class smaller image?
<style>
.smaller-image{
width: 100px;}
.red-text {
color: red;
}

h2 {
font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
}

p {
font-size: 16px;
font-family: Monospace;
}

<style>
.red-text {
color: red;
}
font-size: 16px;
}
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

One is the back div set to a width of 100% with the position of absolute. The other "front" div is set to 980 width and a margin of auto so it centers the div. Therefore, when you change the browser the 980 will simply start to overflow but the picture moves.

@syed1214 that's not a fair question for me to answer.. had an apple II c as a kid and coded anything i could get mh hands off.. you used to buy PC mags with coding in the back to put together fool around games.. back when subroutines were a thang
then on and off for sciencey engineering things over the years... but not much in the early 2000's until about 2010.. and even then mostly for fun

yah
@willstanleyus you get it right? that when you do this you create a class in the CSS (the stuff between the <style></style> tags) with a name (and the addition of a dot at the beginning to tell it it is a class) then another class inside the html thing you want to change class="className" here the name is that same thing you used for the CSS without the dot?

@Manish-Giri I'm working on color guessing game now I'm trying to make this instruction: Displays a message such as ‘I don’t recognize that color!’ If the text entered by the player is not in the array of colors, OR: my array is var color=['blue','cyan','gold','gray','green','magenta','orange','red','white','yellow'];

@dennistay12 okay, what next

@dennistay12
Sep 23 2016 06:55
@Manish-Giri I tried this code, function check_guess(){
if(guess_input != color){
alert("I do not recognize your color!");
return false; but it doesnt work

@Manish-Giri do you know what's wrong?
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Sep 23 2016 06:56
@dennistay12 guess_input is the user's input (from what it looks like), and color is an array. You can't compare a string with an array
Dennis Tay
@dennistay12
Sep 23 2016 06:57
@Manish-Giri yes guess_input is user's input, what should I change for my comparation?
@Manish-Giri I tried to make the condition if user guess colors that not in my array it will say doesnt recognize it
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Sep 23 2016 06:58
@dennistay12 create a function to loop through the array and check...
function isColorAvailable(choice) {
       for(var i = 0; i < color.length; i++) {
             if(color[i] === choice) {
                   return true;
              }
      }
return false;
}

if(isColorAvailable(guess_input)) {
    console.log("Color available");
}
else {
   console.log("Color not available!");
}

Manish Giri

Sep 23 2016 07:00
@dennistay12 the function isColorAvailable loops through the array of your colors, and checks if the user's entered choice matches any color from the array. If at any point in the array, there is a match, the function exits and returns true. If after iterating through the array, there's no match, it will return false.
Based on this true/false, you then decide if the color entered was found in the array.
That's all you need.
@kartikeya100 the usual format is xxx-xxx-xxxx

@Twigarm you put . before a name when you're trying to create a class with the name of name, like .red-text (that you have in your code)
font-size is just a css property, not a class
