@GetBig33 in green box class, do what they tell you one goal by one. so the first one is Your green-box class should give the top of the elements 40px of padding. So you add padding-top: 40 px; to that class. and so on
@Datoufa did you give container class to them?
Datoufa
@Datoufa
Sep 30 2016 00:02
Yea, so here's how it all ended up:

      <div class="container">

Garrus Napp
@GarrusNapp
Sep 30 2016 00:03
@GetBig33 you just edit a class .green-box, so it's similar to red-box, but with values they tell you in goals
GetBig33
@GetBig33
Sep 30 2016 00:03
next would be padding-left: 40px but it remains white and is wrong
yes am doing that but they remain white
and am basically writing code similar to red box

@GarrusNapp Essentially it looks fine until you go to full screen. You can see that the right two images are slightly farther from the right side of the screen. I've looked at my other elements and I'm not sure why this middle area is acting this way.

@awb715

Definition and Usage
The <span> tag is used to group inline-elements in a document.
The <span> tag provides no visual change by itself.
The <span> tag provides a way to add a hook to a part of a text or a part of a document.

CSS has a property called width that controls an element's width. Just like with fonts, we'll use px (pixels) to specify the image's width.

For example, if we wanted to create a CSS class called larger-image that gave HTML elements a width of 500 pixels, we'd use:

<style>
.larger-image {
width: 500px;
}
</style>
Create a class called smaller-image and use it to resize the image so that it's only 100 pixels wide.

Note
Due to browser implementation differences, you may need to be at 100% zoom to pass the tests on this challenge.

I think I did it right but can't run test

CSS borders have properties like style, color and width

For example, if we wanted to create a red, 5 pixel border around an HTML element, we could use this class:

<style>
.thin-red-border {
border-color: red;
border-width: 5px;
border-style: solid;
}
</style>
Create a class called thick-green-border that puts a 10-pixel-wide green border with a style of solid around an HTML element, and apply that class to your cat photo.

Remember that you can apply multiple classes to an element by separating each class with a space within its class attribute. For example:

<img class="class1 class2">

Run tests (ctrl + enter)

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

border-style: solid;

.red-text {
color: red;

Mounika Poonati
@poonati
Sep 30 2016 02:44

Create a second p element after the existing p element with the following kitty ipsum text: Purr jump eat the grass rip the couch scratched sunbathe, shed everywhere rip the couch sleep in the sink fluffy fur catnip scratched.

Inside the same <style> tag that contains your red-text class, create an entry for p elements and set the font-size to 16 pixels (16px).

@awb715 Javascript is the scripting language of the internet
Its basically responsible for all interactive websites today

@awb715 HTML and CSS arent programming languages. HTML is just a markup language and CSS is just for styling

Yea I mean you might be able to get the job and then learn, but it will be a lot harder, but the job almost certainly entails using javascript at some point, whether you have to learn it with them or you already know it

Hello everyone, I have a few questions I need to ask. I can't get them off my mind. So I am a new web developer, I have been learning for a long time now. I learned, HTML, CSS, bootstrap, wordpress, Javascript, jQuery, php, mysql. But, when looking for jobs, I mainly see the requirements listed: Must be proficient in, javascript, jquery, html, css, php, mysql. I rarely see bootstrap, wordpress. When looking for a webdeveloper position, should I just assume I will never be able to use bootstrap or wordpress? Are these considered bad in the web development profession?
Like If I had an interview over skype, and they were going to ask me to create a website from scratch, as fast and as I could to see how good I was. I didn't accept the interview because I didn't know if I could use bootstrap, and if I asked, I didn't know if they would think something like, "Are you serious?"

@JMB25 IMO, many companies have their own implementations and styles. Realize that bootstrap for example is a CSS library and there are many. No point really in listing a CSS library in a job listing because if you know CSS you can use pretty much any library. JQuery however doesn't follow that same logic and so is required. Just because you know Javascript, doesn't mean you'll be able to use JQuery.

@khaduch having trouble printing the second string as well
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Sep 30 2016 04:01
@robgould339 - I think that there is just a little confusing there. Those names that you have myNoun, myAdjective, etc. are the function arguments, which are variables that you are supposed to use within the function. If you surround the names with quotes as you have, they just become string values. Variables should be referenced without quotes, so that the value that they contain is used by the function. You are on the right track with what you have in that you want to concatenate things together with the + operator. Just make sure to take off those quotes, and then add a space between each word (contained in the variable) like myNoun + ' ' + myAdjective, etc. That gets the value of myNoun, which would be "dog", appends a space after it, then the value of myAdjective, which is "big" (and those probably should be reversed, if they specify adjective, noun, etc. I'll have to go and look at the challenge to see.

@Smit554 - great. You probably just want to define a CSS class for an element. .red-text is a class, to define a CSS style for an element, for example, for the h1 element, you would just do this:

<style>
h1 {
    color: purple;
}

There is probably an example in the description

@robgould339 - you should not have the words "big", "dog", etc. in there. Those will be inserted into the string from the variables. All you should have, as I showed in a post a little while ago, is a quoted space between each variable, so it you just replace your quoted strings with a single space, that would make it a lot closer...

Sep 30 2016 04:13
@Smit554 - I just went to look at your "Style Multiple Elements with a CSS Class"... I was incorrect in what they wanted you to do. Please remove that p selector. You need to add the same class attribute and value to the existing <p> element as they did with the <h2 class="red-text"> - just do the same thing for the <p>
"Apply the red-text class to your h2 and p elements."

@robgould339 - oh - wait again - are you doing a return myStr; at the end after you set up the variable? And actually, it looks like you should be using the variable result, instead of myStr??? Because that is what they set up in the editor, and you are only supposed to change what's in the middle, and you should see a return result; at the end, so you should set the result variable with your concatenated words...
Rob Gould
@robgould339
Sep 30 2016 04:20

@khaduch I currently only have myStr I can try the result instead, or should it be be return? and here is the entirety of the code:

function wordBlanks(myNoun, myAdjective, myVerb, myAdverb) {
var result = "";

// Your code below this line

myStr = myNoun + " " + myAdjective + " " + myVerb + " " + myAdverb + ".";

// Your code above this line
return result;
}

// Change the words here to test your function
wordBlanks("dog", "big", "ran", "quickly");
wordBlanks("cat" , "little", "hit", "slowly");

@khaduch so I know that result has already been declared, and that we are printing the result with the return function? or am i corfnused....lol
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Sep 30 2016 04:22
@robgould339 - you see the return result; ?? That means that your result should be set up in that variable. It is not necessary to use a different variable myStr - just use result in place of myStr in your code - it should work then... you have to write result = myNoun + " " + etc... to set result to your resulting string...

I'm doing the tribute thing and I'm wondering how can I put an image in the center of the screen? Do I have to do it with the bootstrap column row thing ?
I want my image to be centered :D
is there something like image-center xD?
Ken Haduch
@khaduch
Sep 30 2016 04:24
@robgould339 - great! Just to recap - var result = ""; declares and initializes that variable to an empty string. The return result; will return whatever is in that variable, so unless you assign a value to it, it will just return the empty string as the result. Therefore result = myNoun, etc. sets the variable to your sentence, which is then returned...
@Gizzly - if you are using bootstrap, sometimes putting class="text-center" on a div that is the parent of the image will center it. There is also a center-block class that you might be able to assign to the image that would center it. It just gives the image a style of margin: auto 0; if I remember correctly.
@Gizzly - do you have a URL or some code for the thing you're trying to do?
Rob Gould
@robgould339
Sep 30 2016 04:27
@khaduch okay...question then? so when I attempted to type return result, I noticed a warning icon on that line asking me if I meant return as a function...or something to that effect, why then, did it not recognize return result as a valid output?
Ken Haduch

Sep 30 2016 04:28
@robgould339 - I would need a little more context - where did you type "return result"?

@Gizzly - if you just put this <img class = "Awesomeness center-block" style = "height: 200px" src = "http://wallpaper.zone/img/670703.jpg" alt ="Awesomeness"> - add the center-block class there on the img, it will center it.

@robgould339 - it says "did you mean to return a conditional instead of an assignment" - I think that is the warning you would get. Because typically you would not return an assignment to a variable, you might return something like return result === "sentence"; - doing a test of a value and returning that. I think that it's just trying to be helpful in pointing out something that would not commonly be done?
@Gizzly - you're welcome. Yes, that is a bootstrap class.

Put the Like, Info and Delete buttons side-by-side by nesting all three of them within one <div class="row"> element, then each of them within a <div class="col-xs-4"> element.

Having issue with the exercise about inheritance of styles from the Body Element. Please see my code below. I followed the instructions to the tee in the correct order. The funny thing is that the code examiner didn't even recognize when I change the body style background-color: green
Here's my code for that exercise

<style>
body {
background-color: green;
font-family: Monospace;
}

</style>

<h1>Hello World</h1>

Can anyone remove my frustration?

Nest the existing img element within an a element.
Your a element should be a dead link with a href attribute set to #.
