@VaseJS also, reason why tweet button doesn’t appear is - you don’t have any content in the button in HTML, and the tweet icon appears only at the last stage of the XHR request, and that doesn’t happen until you click the “next fact” button - when the request begins to go through
@VaseJS that’s the way you’ve built it

@Manish-Giri

inline styling overrides all other styling. (some one correct me if i’m off as i’m not sure on next statement). style tag will over ride CSS or just confuse it.
thus overriding it
Tom
@Torayx
Oct 01 2016 02:47 UTC
@VaseJS style tag is CSS
VaseJS
@VaseJS
Oct 01 2016 02:48 UTC
yes, but if you have CSS file and a style tag, which one “wins"
Tom
@Torayx
Oct 01 2016 02:48 UTC
they are equivalent
VaseJS
@VaseJS
Oct 01 2016 02:48 UTC
so I guess i need to put that situation out there. Not that you should have both a style tag and css file
but if you did, the tag would win…i believe
Tom
@Torayx
Oct 01 2016 02:49 UTC
its redundant
Manish Giri
@Manish-Giri
Oct 01 2016 02:49 UTC
style tag has precedence over stylesheets (afaik)
VaseJS
@VaseJS

@Torayx yes it is redundant but I’m only showing that one form takes priority over another

Oct 01 2016 03:01 UTC
@Gizzly You’re getting into more advanced stuff. This is not an issue, but what is the goal of the challenge? You have a great image, but then you have to handle the text over the image. And you’re spending time focused on something else. Yes, you’re learning but (i’ll make an assumption here), CSS is not the main goal.
@Gizzly I fall into that trap and have to pull myself back. So I’m not suggesting not learning but more, accomplish the task and move one. CSS and bootstrap is a whole area of study by itself. My last challenge was could have been better visually but I’m not here to learn CSS and bootstrap at the moment, but i digress. As you were :D

this is the code Im using. Im using a flexbox

<div class="resume">
            <img class="resume-picture" src="avi.png"/>
            <div class="resume-content">
                <h2 id="hello">My Resume</h2>
                <p>My experience mainly consists of costumer service.
                    <br>However, I aim to change that by developing
                    <br>my programming skills to work as a developer.</p>
            </div>
        </div>

and this is my css

.resume {
  display: flex;
  align-items: center;
  justify-content: center;
}
.resume-picture {
  border: 10px crimson;
  border-radius: 50%;
  background: #96B3D3;
  box-shadow: 0 3px 6px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.16), 0 3px 6px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.23);
  height: 150px;
  width: 150px;
}
.resume-content {
  padding: 0 15px;
}
.resume-content h2 {
  color: #1976D2;
  margin-top: 0;
}
.resume-content p {
  color: #333;
  margin: 0;
}
and this is the result: https://postimg.org/image/hs367mvjd/>

my problem is : jQuery uses CSS Selectors to target elements. target:nth-child(n) css selector allows you to select all the nth elements with the target class or element type.

Here's how you would give the third element in each well the bounce class: $(".target:nth-child(3)").addClass("animated bounce");

@leightcoder - I don't know if you found a solution, but I seem to recall that there is a problem using nth-child based on a class selector? THis might be an old note, things might have changed, but this stackoverflow entry discusses this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5428676/nth-child-doesnt-respond-to-class

@Gizzly - it is best to follow it because they plug all of the various panels and externals into a template - it might work if you don't follow their technique, but it is better to keep it clean for CodePen's purposes.

@niallgcm you need to remove spaces and special characters for both sides.. So you could chain a replace on the str.toLowerCase().replace( regex, ''); <-- you'd have to insert a regex that removes non-alphanumeric characters if I recall correctly

@VaseJS sorry i forgot to mention it also said "Now nest your existing a element within a new p element (just after the existing h2 element) so that the surrounding paragraph says "View more cat photos", but where only "cat photos" is a link, and the rest of the text is plain text.
i've placed my code after the h2 element as well

@VaseJS I just reached the JSON APIs in FCC Course (after dealing with some basic algorithm in the previous one). It's difficult to understand the chapter JSON APIs (in FCC) and you mentioned Framework, so I don't know what it's about.
VaseJS
@VaseJS
Oct 01 2016 05:31 UTC
@Sohan2infoSec Much better. I was mentioning that I’m building a [mental] framework to help with the FCC course called struggleBusJS and I was going to drop the article I wrote about the API challenge.
but as I look at it (i started today), Its more points that I need to flesh out. but I’ll paste the first paragraph (remember, it’s in draft form so you will have questions)
JSON
JSON Must be parsed.
JSON is a string. Parsing it turns it into an object of the given language. All numbers must be converted to numbers as the will be strings.
No functions can be sent via JSON, they will be ignored.

think of the <a> tag as a link (because it is). So the word that needs to be the link should have the <a> tag around it.

VaseJS
@VaseJS
Oct 01 2016 05:38 UTC
Once you get the api working, its nothing new. All you’re doing is grabing the data from a website and putting it into a variable vs from a file on your computer
don’t think of it as anything more than that. THe source is the only difference.
and parsing as I mentioned in my breif JSON article that needs to be completed.
